Does your nonprofit work with low-income members in the Greater Huntsville area? If so, we invite you to participate in our fifth annual video grant competition, now known as Share Your Story Video Challenge (formerly #WeBelieveHSV).

Grant Description

The annual Share Your Story video grant challenge mobilizes generosity to local nonprofits in the Greater Huntsville area, focusing on a new theme each year. Nonprofit organizations create a 60-second video showing their impact and sharing their story, then post their video to Facebook and submit a brief application in the Community Foundation’s online grant portal.

2026 Theme: Small Nonprofits Making an Outsized Impact

Join Maddie's Fund every Monday at 11am PT for the Weekly Community Conversations, a supportive platform for animal well-being professionals. Engage in discussions about innovative programs and share valuable insights with peers. Each month, attendees have the chance to win up to $10,000 in grants by participating in the calls or watching on-demand. This initiative fosters collaboration and addresses crucial topics in the field.

The Community Wellbeing Grant, offered by the Lululemon Centre for Social Impact, aims to enhance wellbeing through movement, mindfulness, and connection. This grant supports community-led non-profits working to address systemic inequities, helping to build access to wellness resources. Applications are encouraged from organizations that prioritize diverse leadership and serve populations facing barriers to wellbeing. The goal is to impact 10 million individuals positively by 2025, fostering equity and resilience in communities worldwide.

The MAC Underserved Initiative Grant Program aims to enhance access to quality arts programming across all 82 counties in Mississippi. By identifying underserved areas that lack recent grants or services, the Mississippi Arts Commission facilitates outreach and support for local arts initiatives. This program not only promotes cultural engagement but also fosters community development and collaboration among various organizations, ensuring that all citizens can participate in diverse artistic experiences.

The Jeffris Heartland Fund Grant, provided by the Jeffris Family Foundation, supports significant historic preservation projects across several Midwestern states, including Iowa and Wisconsin. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, covering 50% of costs for Historic Structure Reports, requiring a dollar-for-dollar match. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and government agencies, focusing on projects with historical significance, architectural merit, and strong community ties. Applications are accepted anytime, with decisions made approximately 30 days after submission.

The Spay/Neuter Grants program, funded by Washington State's SPAY ~ NEUTER ~ ADOPT license plates, aims to combat pet overpopulation. Since 2007, it has awarded over $615,000 to animal welfare organizations, facilitating nearly 20,500 spay and neuter surgeries for pets in need. Eligible nonprofit organizations must meet specific criteria, ensuring humane treatment and adherence to regulations. This initiative contributes significantly to creating a healthier, more sustainable pet population across Washington.

Karen Schlosser Memorial Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to provide an annual scholarship to a Marshall County resident attending Purdue University. 

The Karen Schlosser Memorial Scholarship is not renewable to previous recipients. 

We administer a number of scholarships, which range from the traditional academic and athletic awards to corporate and special circumstances offerings. These scholarships are open to all residents of Marshall County, as long as other requirements are met.

McKinnis Vocational Scholarship Fund

This scholarship will be awarded to one or more Marshall County graduating high school student(s) who will be attending a vocational trade or technical career school.

The CHCF Innovation Fund Grant aims to enhance healthcare access and quality for Californians by investing in early- to growth-stage companies. It focuses on technologies developed by diverse founders who understand community challenges, particularly in California's Medicaid ecosystem. The fund seeks partners committed to improving care quality, reducing costs, and ensuring access for low-income populations. The Transformational Partnerships Fund offers catalytic grants of up to $100,000 to support partnerships among degree-granting institutions, focusing on student-centered solutions. These grants aim to explore innovative collaborations that enhance stability and success for students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. Eligible institutions must demonstrate a commitment to transformational partnerships, with priority given to those serving diverse populations and improving educational outcomes. The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Fund, established by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, aims to support initiatives that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion across five counties and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Grants of up to $2,500 are available for organizations led by marginalized communities, including people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Priority is given to projects promoting awareness, education, and equitable access to resources, fostering a more inclusive future.

The Jim Tompkins Endowment, established by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in 2018, aims to support youth in Traverse City through grants for programs and projects. This initiative is part of a broader mission to enhance community welfare across various sectors, including education and health services. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $69 million in grants, fostering lasting impacts for local youth and the community.

Tony and Mary Wood Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship(s) to attend Ancilla College for a resident of Marshall County or an adjacent county who is recommended by Heart and Hands, Inc.  

Should Heart and Hands, Inc. cease to exist, then the Marshall County Community Foundation may partner with another not-for-profit organization dedicated to the educational development of immigrants to Marshall County or may administer the scholarship themselves.

Marshall County Community Foundation administers a number of scholarships, from traditional awards for graduating seniors to those geared towards current students, professionals, and other special circumstances.

Bowen Family Medical Scholarship Fund 

The purpose of this fund is to provide one or more annual scholarships to a Marshall County resident accepted into an accredited school of medicine to prepare for a career in rural family medicine. The intent of this scholarship is to prepare physicians for family practice in a rural Indiana community. 

For purposes of this scholarship rural Indiana is defined as Indiana Communities excluding the cities of Indianapolis, Evansville, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and the northwest Indiana counties of Lake and Porter. 

The Bowen Family Medical Scholarship Fund is renewable annually to previous recipients based upon the successful medical school advancement of the recipient and at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee. 

Should the scholarship be granted to a newly recruited family practice physician in the form of medical school debt reduction, the funding is also renewable at the discretion of the Scholarship Advisory Committee. 

The Allegheny County Bar Foundation (ACBF) addresses the justice gap in Allegheny County by providing grants to innovative organizations supporting families in need. In 2022, ACBF awarded $60,000 to six legal aid programs focused on critical issues such as refugee services and tenant rights. The grant process includes a Letter of Inquiry followed by in-person pitches to ACBF Fellows, fostering creative proposals aimed at enhancing legal representation for underserved communities.

The Joint DMS/NIGMS Initiative aims to enhance research at the intersection of mathematical and biological sciences, fostering collaborations and innovative activities. Funded by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of General Medical Sciences, this program offers two funding tracks: Track 1 supports projects with budgets up to $600,000 for three years, while Track 2 accommodates budgets up to $1,200,000 for three to four years. This initiative addresses critical questions in the biological and biomedical fields.

Cumberland Community Foundation ("CCF") manages more than 60 scholarship endowment funds created by local individuals, families, civic organizations, and corporations who want to provide a path to higher education for future generations. 

Each year, Cumberland Community Foundation announces more than $1,000,000 in college scholarships to students from southeastern North Carolina.

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity: The George L. Butler Memorial Scholarship

Graduating senior from any high school in Cumberland County or Fort Bragg area.

The Madison County Rural Poverty Fund, managed by the Central New York Community Foundation, aims to address poverty in Madison County, where 10% of residents lived below the federal poverty line in 2018. This fund supports 501(c)(3) nonprofits and organizations serving local communities through capital and program grants, promoting innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life and tackle critical issues related to poverty.

The Tree Campus Higher Education Program, led by the National Arbor Day Foundation, encourages colleges and universities to cultivate community forests. By meeting standards such as forming a Tree Advisory Committee and engaging in service-learning projects, institutions can achieve annual recognition, enhancing campus pride and environmental stewardship. This initiative promotes mental health through green spaces and reduces energy needs, making campuses healthier and more sustainable places for students and staff.

Doug Struthers Memorial Scholarship

Doug Struthers taught at Alexander Graham Bell Elementary in the Lake Washington School District for more than two decades. His hard work, commitment and perseverance made a difference in the school and the community. This scholarship fund was created in his memory to help young people learn skills to serve their communities. Four Lake Washington School District students every year are chosen to receive this $5,000 renewable scholarship.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Fund for Historic Interiors, established by George P. Mitchell in 1997, supports the preservation of historic interiors through grants ranging from $2,500 to $15,000. Eligible applicants include public agencies and nonprofits, while individuals may apply if their project involves a National Historic Landmark. The competitive selection process typically concludes within three months, with grant recipients required to match funds dollar-for-dollar. This initiative promotes education and planning activities crucial for maintaining historic interior integrity.

Blue Cross Blue Shield AZ & Prosano Health Svcs. Employee Dependent Scholarship

The Blue Cross Blue Shield AZ (BCBSAZ) & Prosano Health Svcs. (PHS) Employee Dependent Scholarship supports dependents of BCBSAZ & Prosano Health Services employees. Applicants must be attending any of the Arizona State University campuses and a qualified dependent of a BCBSAZ or PHS employee who has at least 1 year of employment with either organization.

Key Club Scholarship

An opportunity offered by Redding Kiwanis to graduating seniors from Enterprise and Shasta High schools who are dues paying members of their high school Key Club.

The Key Club Scholarship was established by the Redding Kiwanis to fund Key Club Scholarships for graduating seniors from Enterprise and Shasta High schools. Key Club International is the high school organization sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Clubs assist Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world. This scholarship is centered around active service to their school and community. Students must be an active, due paying member of their high school Key Club.

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee will award scholarships to students attending an accredited higher learning institution in financial need. Eligible students must show how they promoted the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through their participation in school, community, and/or faith-based events within the last year.

Andrews and Esser Scholarship

This scholarship was set up in memory of Marvin A. Andrews and Charles A. Esser. In addition to the monetary award, the Andrews and Esser Scholarship recipient will be given the opportunity for a paid internship stipend. The Andrews Scholarship/Internship is open to a part-time Masters of Public Administration student who is currently working in local government. Scholarship is not renewable.

ACF General Scholarship

The ACF Scholarship Fund was established in 2008. Any student attending an Arizona public community college or university who demonstrates a financial need, as determined by their Free Application for Federal Student Aid, is eligible to apply. Applicants who have experienced foster care are given preference.
