Riggs Family Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to support graduating high school seniors from any San Luis Obispo County High School with a mid GPA (2.8-3.8) attending a four-year college.

This scholarship was established to broaden the number of traditionally underrepresented groups employed in the legal profession with the goal of providing greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.

This scholarship supports students in the Paso Robles region and/or children of local tourism/hospitality workers.

The Vineyard and Farm Worker’s Scholarship was established by Brian and Johnine Talley and supports higher education for the children of vineyard and farm workers.

Timothy F. Wright Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established at the Northern New York Community Foundation in memory of local businessman Timothy F. Wright.

Seniors at Carthage High School, Copenhagen Central School and Lowville Academy and Central School who will be attending Jefferson Community College majoring in business or a technology program are eligible to apply.

Brittany Walroth Memorial Scholarship

The person, for whom the scholarship is named, Brittany Marie Walrath, was a 2004 graduate of General Brown High School. She was a cheerleader for the GB Lions since fifth grade with the Pop Warner. Her squad took the Championship trophy in 2003. She was an energetic, loving, hardworking young lady who was tragically killed in a car accident in July of 2010. Brittany was a wonderful daughter, friend, wife and aunt and cared a great deal about people. These traits lead her into a job of helping with children.

Brittany worked for the YMCA in the SACC program starting in her junior year until she was called to work at Fort Drum's Child Development Center in 2006. Brittany was a positive role model and spoke of helping children with learning disabilities, like herself. Through Brittany's education, supportive services were essential to allowing her to reach her to reach her academic potential. Therefore, we know she would be honored for this scholarship to be given in memory of her. We would like to encourage an energetic individual who cares to follow their dreams.

This scholarship fund has been instituted in her memory. Money raised from donations and events has been deposited in an interest bearing account.

This scholarship will be awarded annually. The annual award for the Brittany Marie Walrath Memorial Scholarship Fund will be $500.

Yeager Science Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to support students majoring in physical science or a related technical field at a college or university. 

The Portland Rotary Charitable Trust Community Grants support 501(c)(3) organizations in the Portland Metro area that empower underserved youth. Grants, ranging from $2,000 to $8,000, focus on capital expenditures, ensuring inclusivity without discrimination. Organizations must refrain from non-capital expenses, operational costs, and religious requirements. This initiative fosters equal opportunities, addressing disparities in access to resources and promoting community development.

The Office of Elementary and Secondary Education (OESE) is offering the Project SAFE Grant Program to enhance student safety and well-being. The program aims to assist local educational agencies (LEAs) in implementing strategies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, in accordance with CDC guidelines. This initiative is particularly focused on supporting LEAs that face financial penalties from state educational agencies for adopting these necessary health measures, ensuring a safer learning environment.

The Met: Fellowship in History of Art and Visual Culture offers a unique opportunity for scholars to engage with the museum's vast collections. Designed for PhD students and established scholars, this fellowship promotes interdisciplinary research that combines art history with other fields. Fellows work on independent projects while potentially assisting curatorial departments. With stipends of up to $57,000 and additional travel funds, this program fosters a vibrant community of scholars dedicated to redefining art history.

The Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Scholarship, established by the Connecticut Community Foundation, supports college-bound students from Roxbury, offering a $2000 award. This scholarship prioritizes current or former members of the Roxbury Fire Department and their descendants, promoting educational opportunities for those committed to serving their community. The David Whitehouse Research Residency for Artists provides artists with the opportunity to engage with the Museum’s resources, including its extensive glass collections and the Rakow Research Library. Named after former executive director David Whitehouse, this residency supports the exploration of glass-related topics, offering transportation, room, and board. Residencies last from one to three weeks, and recipients are invited to present their research in a public lecture, fostering community engagement and artistic dialogue.

The Persbacker Family Fund Scholarship, established by the Connecticut Community Foundation, is dedicated to residents of Bridgewater who have volunteered significantly in their community for over six years. This scholarship aims to support local students in achieving their college education dreams. With awards starting at $2,500, the foundation continues its legacy of fostering educational opportunities for deserving students in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills region.

Hearts for Hanah Scholarship Fund

The Hearts for Hanah Scholarship Fund was originally established to celebrate the life of Hanah Rae Friel, who underwent an intensive cancer treatment program including chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, tumor resections, and stem-cell transplants. After thirty-seven days in the hospital and two years of battling Stage IV neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer, Hanah was declared cancer free.

Today, Hanah continues to pursue an education toward a bachelor’s degree in social work, hoping to work with either foster kids or pediatric oncology patients as a Child Life Specialist. The Hearts for Hanah scholarship fund provide scholarships for students who have the same desire to give back to their community and help young children, just as Hanah dreams.

The Carl J. Niedzial Memorial Scholarship, established by the Connecticut Community Foundation in 1923, supports members of the CT State Police Credit Union and their immediate families, including grandchildren. As one of the largest scholarship providers in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills region, the foundation aims to help students achieve their college education dreams by addressing critical community issues and fostering equitable outcomes.

Howard E. Gillette Scholarship Endowment Fund

The Howard E. Gillette Scholarship Endowment Fund was created by the family and friends of Dr. Gillette at the time of his passing. It received further funding upon receipt of a bequest from his estate.

Dr. Howard Gillette (1915-2008) was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was a graduate of East Aurora High School, North Central College and the University of Illinois College of Dentistry.

After completing his residency in Oral Surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, he spent three years in the United States Air Force.

In 1947, he started his Oral Surgery practice in Aurora. He retired in 1982.

Dr. Gillette was a member of the board of directors of the Community Foundation for twenty-two years. He also served as a senior or emeritus director for seven years.

Scholarships from Dr. Gillette’s fund are available to graduates of East Aurora and West Aurora High School for attendance at North Central College.

The ETC Equipment Grant supports U.S.-based non-profit organizations, schools, and government entities by providing essential lighting technology. This initiative, part of ETC's Light the Way Program, aims to enhance training in performance arts through equipment grants. Recipients can choose from a variety of packages, including consoles and LED fixtures, tailored to their facility's needs. ETC also offers training for all awarded equipment, ensuring recipients maximize the impact of their grants.

The DDIF: Toothbrush Donations program, supported by the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation, aims to improve oral health by providing essential dental supplies like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss. Nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply year-round, emphasizing the importance of including an oral health education component in their projects. This initiative not only addresses immediate dental care needs but also promotes long-term oral hygiene practices.

The Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation offers System and Capacity Building Grants to enhance the health and well-being of all Iowans. These grants, starting at $25,000, focus on significant infrastructure and system changes aligned with core initiatives such as oral health integration and health equity. The Foundation encourages applicants to consult staff before applying, ensuring that projects align with strategic goals in education, advocacy, access, prevention, and research.

The DDIF: Smile Grants provide funding of $5,000 or less for short-term, educational projects related to oral health. Although all current funding has been allocated, new opportunities will be available starting January 2024. These grants are intended to assist with educational kits and oral health supplies. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until funds are fully allocated.

The Clay Electric Foundation Grants support charitable and educational initiatives that improve lives in the counties served by Clay Electric Cooperative. Established in 1937, this member-owned organization distributes funds collected through Operation Round Up to eligible applicants operating within these counties. Organizations such as churches, schools, and government entities may apply, but direct applications from for-profit entities or political organizations are not accepted. The Foundation is committed to enhancing community welfare through its funding.

The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in Idaho provides crucial funding for nonprofits at high risk of terrorist attacks. With up to $2.1 million available in 2025, individual awards may reach $200,000. The program aims to enhance security through equipment upgrades and training, while fostering collaboration between nonprofits and local government agencies. This initiative is vital for improving community resilience and safeguarding vulnerable populations from evolving threats.

The Our Fund: Arts & Culture Fund provides grants to support LGBTQ arts organizations in South Florida. With a focus on resilience and sustainability, the fund encourages projects that re-engage audiences after challenging times. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) non-profits or fiscally sponsored organizations that either primarily serve LGBTQ communities or offer LGBTQ-specific programs. Special consideration is given to initiatives benefiting underserved populations within the LGBTQ community.

The BPS Arts Expansion Grants offer vital funding opportunities to enhance arts education in schools. These grants include School Arts Index Grants aimed at improving access to quality arts education, Career-Connected Learning Grants to bolster arts career opportunities for high school students, and Individual Arts Educator Grants to support professional development for arts teachers. Through these initiatives, the program seeks to foster systemic change and greater equity in arts education.

Introduction

The mission of the Governor’s Commission on Disability (GCD) is to improve “the quality of life of all New Mexicans with disabilities by addressing social integration, economic self-sufficiency, political resolve, physical and program accessibility, and full participation in the benefits of life and rights of all individuals."

Quality of Life Grant Program

As part of its mission, GCD continues the Quality of Life Grant Program (QOL). QOL provides small grants to New Mexico non-profits and other tax-exempt organizations to improve or enhance programs and services that increase the quality of life of all New Mexicans with disabilities.

Applications may be submitted to address one of five categories: Adaptive Movement; Programmatic Access; Emergency Preparedness Outreach and Education; Social Integration; Technology Training and Accessibility.

The goal of the QOL Grant Program is to allow an organization to provide more (quantity) or enhanced (quality) services in one or more of the listed categories. QOL grants are not awarded for routine operating costs (salaries not related to enhanced or increased services, for instance), or costs associated with starting a new program or delivering a new service.

Jack & Naomi Hastert Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund

This fund was created in 1998 by former Congressman and Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert as a memorial to his parents Jack and Naomi Hastert.

The fund, which provides scholarships to students in Kendall County, Illinois, became an endowment in 2010.

Jack Hastert (1913-1998) was born in Joliet, Illinois of second generation Luxembourg and Norwegian immigrants.

He was a graduate of Joliet Township High School and the Worsham College of Mortuary Science.

He worked for the George Boyle Funeral Home of Aurora and the Fred Dames Funeral Home of Joliet.

From 1940 to 1960, Mr. Hastert was the proprietor of Hastert Farm Supply of Aurora and rural Oswego.

From 1960 through his retirement, he owned and operated the Clock Tower Restaurant in Plainfield and was Food Services Director at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Joliet.

Naomi Hastert (1914-1994) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania of second generation German immigrants.

She had to quit high school (Joliet Township) at the height of the depression to support her family (mother, father and three younger brothers and sisters). She was the sole supporter of her family through most of the depression.

Mrs. Hastert was a straight A student when she left high school and always valued education.

She worked hard throughout her life to make sure her children and grandchildren received the education she had not been able to receive. Her sons were the first in their family to earn college degrees.

Mr. and Mrs. Hastert were married in 1940 and had three sons – Chris, David and J. Dennis Haste

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services is inviting proposals for Round 2 Opioid Settlement Funding (RFP BHTHPTR26113) to support local opioid abatement strategies across seven districts. Eligible applicants may propose new projects distinct from previous funding. The agency aims to enhance health and resiliency in communities through innovative services. Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously received funding, ensuring a diverse range of strategies to combat opioid-related issues.
