The Southern Equality Research Grant, offered by the Campaign for Southern Equality, aims to empower students and early career researchers to conduct crucial studies on LGBTQ+ issues in the South. With over a third of LGBTQ+ Americans residing in this region, there is a significant need for research to address legal protections and social inequities. This initiative seeks to elevate the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ Southerners, fostering a deeper understanding of the policies affecting their lives.

Kansas Department of Commerce

Broadband Acceleration Grant

Purpose and Goals

The Broadband Acceleration Grant Program is a critical program in Kansas’ plan to address broadband gaps. The Program is designed to offset capital expenses in the deployment of broadband to unserved areas in three distinct funding categories: 1) Last Mile, 2) Line Extension and 3) Middle Mile. The goal of this program is to facilitate broadband access to all Kansans while promoting practices that increase deployment and encourage adoption.

Goals

• Target economically distressed areas unlikely to receive broadband service without state or federal funding
• Focus on enabling last mile and line extension locations, and middle mile segments.
• Deploy reliable broadband solutions with speeds at or greater than 100 Mbps download and 20 Mbps (100/20 Mbps) upload.
• Deploy middle mile segments supporting speeds at or greater than symmetrical 10 Gbps

Funding Priorities

The following items are BAG 6.0 funding priorities:

• Critical broadband needs within a community or rural area
• Lack of access to an affordable, reliable high-speed broadband connection
• Geographic Distribution of Grant Funds: The State of Kansas may geographically distribute awards to ensure that all Kansas regions can participate in connecting Kansans
• Serve Economically Distressed Counties that are unserved

Match Requirement: 50%

The Fred and Alice Wallace Charitable Grant supports local non-profit organizations addressing healthcare and educational needs in the Miami Valley, Ohio. There are no strict submission deadlines for proposals, which are reviewed quarterly. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501(c)(3). Grants should not exceed 10% of the project's budget, allowing for impactful assistance to those served by these charities.

The Land & Water Conservation Fund Recreation Grants, administered by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, support outdoor recreation projects through matching grants to state, tribal, and local entities. Since 1964, over 800 projects have been funded, enhancing public parks, trails, and recreational facilities. Eligible applicants include cities, counties, and state agencies, while a 50% non-federal match is required. The program fosters community engagement in outdoor activities and conservation efforts.

The West Texas Hereford Association – Curly Hays Scholarship Fund, managed by the Community Foundation of Abilene, honors Curly Hays, a dedicated community figure. This scholarship supports Texas high school seniors who have exhibited livestock, with awards ranging from $500 to over $5,000. Payments are made directly to educational institutions in August and January. Preference is given to Junior Hereford Association members, helping to foster agricultural education and community engagement.

The Rich Meiers Health Administration Fund, established in 2009, offers scholarships to college juniors, seniors, or graduate students pursuing degrees in hospital or health care administration. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7, demonstrate financial need, and be residents of Hawaii attending a local college or university. Preference is given to recipients who were awarded in the previous year and continue to meet eligibility criteria. This fund supports future leaders in health care.

The Richard "Longy" and Eleanor "Sluggo" Okamoto Kamalii Manaloa Volleyball Scholarship Fund, established in 2018, supports Hawaii high school seniors who have been active members of their varsity volleyball teams. This scholarship aims to empower students to pursue higher education, emphasizing the importance of academic achievement and financial need. Preference is given to first-generation college students, reinforcing the fund's commitment to fostering educational opportunities within the community.

The Winters Area Foundation Alumni Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Abilene, supports Winters alumni currently enrolled in college. With awards ranging from $500 to over $5,000, this scholarship aims to ease the financial burden of higher education. Payments are made directly to educational institutions for the fall and spring semesters. This initiative highlights the Foundation's commitment to empowering students through financial assistance and fostering educational opportunities.

The Michigan Sugar Company Employee Scholarship, established in 2014, supports employees and their families in pursuing further education. With a commitment to lifelong learning, this scholarship offers two $1,000 awards annually to children or grandchildren of Michigan Sugar Company employees. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be enrolled in a vocational program or an undergraduate degree. This initiative reinforces the company's dedication to educational advancement and community support.

The Regional Site Readiness Program-Capital Ready, initiated by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, aims to enhance infrastructure across the state, preparing sites for industrial and manufacturing development. With a total funding of $40 million, awards will range from $250,000 to $3 million, supporting communities to overcome financial barriers and increasing the number of sites ready for future industrial development in all ten Economic Development Regions of Illinois.

The Nancy Saunders Medical Education Fund, established in 2019, aims to support graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in medicine, including MDs, DOs, PAs, and NPs. Applicants must be Hawaii residents, demonstrate financial need, and maintain full-time enrollment at accredited institutions. Preference is given to those with a minimum GPA of 3.0, residents of Maui, and individuals intending to practice in Maui post-graduation. This fund seeks to enhance medical education accessibility for dedicated students.

District Department of Transportation

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) was established by The District Department of Transportation Establishment Act of 2002 as a cabinet-level agency responsible for the management of transportation infrastructure and operations (D.C. Law 14-137 [2002]).

Every day, over 1,000 members of the DDOT team work tirelessly to ensure that the District’s roads are safe, reliable , and easy to navigate for the millions of residents, commuters, and visitors who use the transportation network each year.

Mission: The District Department of Transportation’s mission is to equitably deliver a safe, sustainable and reliable multimodal transportation network for all residents and visitors of the District of Columbia. 

National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program Funding Round #1

The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) invites organizations, businesses, and District of Columbia property owners to apply for a competitive grant to design, install, operate, and maintain federally compliant Direct Current (DC) fast charging stations. Under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program, DDOT is receiving $16.7 million over five (5) years to invest in electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure throughout the District of Columbia (District) in accordance with the program’s guidance, specifications, and requirements. These first round of stations must be withing one (1) travel-mile of federally designated Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs) for the District to achieve fully built out status. The District currently has six (6) AFCs. 

The Michigan Sugar Queen Scholarship, offered by Michigan Sugar Company, empowers young women aged 18-23 to represent the sugar industry as the Michigan Sugar Queen and Court Attendants. Each year, they receive scholarships of $4,000 and $2,000 respectively. Candidates must reside in sugarbeet-growing counties and demonstrate knowledge of the industry. Recipients commit to a year of service, attending various events, including parades and ceremonies, while applying funds strictly for tuition and books.

The Tony Daniel Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Abilene, supports students from various high schools, including Coleman and Santa Anna. This scholarship honors Anthoney 'Tony' Daniel, a dedicated educator and FCA advocate, who inspired many during his life. Award amounts range from $500 to over $5,000, with payments sent directly to educational institutions for the fall and spring semesters, aiding students in their pursuit of education.

Technical Assistance Navigating Culturally Specific Substance Use and Recovery Programs

Scope of Work

The purpose of the RFP is for technical assistance navigating culturally specific and responsive SUD programs. STATE has identified three categories of activities to meet this goal:

• Licensure, Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) Enrollment, and Rate Enhancement: The purpose of this category is to support culturally specific or culturally responsive SUD programs in developing long-term sustainability through obtaining licensure, enrolling in MHCP, or applying for the Medical Assistance (MA) Rate Enhancement as a Culturally Specific or Culturally Responsive Program.

• Grant Writing and Management: The purpose of this category is to increase the knowledge, skills, and capacity of culturally specific or culturally responsive programs to apply for, receive, and successfully manage grant funding from the STATE.

• Technical Assistance and Training: The purpose of this category is to provide an opportunity for culturally specific or culturally responsive SUD programs to support each other in a consulting or training capacity. 

The James W. Caughy and Florence L. Caughy Verbeek Vacaville High School Memorial Service Award Fund, managed by the Solano Community Foundation, honors students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to community service. This scholarship is specifically for Vacaville High School graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0, planning to attend a four-year college in California, and who have engaged in community volunteer work for at least two years.

About DHHL

As part of the Native Hawaiian Development Program Plan, the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) makes available annual grant funding to nonprofit organizations that demonstrate a purpose to benefit native Hawaiians. DHHL has offered grants in several program areas over the years as a means of implementing the community development component of the rehabilitation fund. Grant offerings reflect the department’s priorities and community interests.

Grant for Disaster Preparedness / Mitigation

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) is seeking grant proposals statewide for disaster preparedness, prevention, and mitigation projects, programs and/or services in existing homesteads on Hawaiian Home Lands. Grant proposals may cover a broad range of areas in disaster preparedness and mitigation. Proposed projects may include any project related to the DHHL General Plan or listed in any HHC-approved DHHL Regional Plan, including those listed as “Potential” and/or “Priority” Projects. 

Award Period

The award is for a maximum of up to five years from the contract effective date.

Award Amounts

Subject to the availability of funds, a total of $2,000,000 in competitive funds will be provided for this solicitation using RFPs for “improvements to facilities located in existing homesteads.” The maximum grant proposal amount for this RFP-26-HHL-005 is $1,000,000. 

The Harry and Eleanor D. Nelson Scholarship, established by the Nelsons in 1967, supports Vacaville high school seniors pursuing higher education. Administered by the Solano Community Foundation since 2008, it aims to promote education, public recreation, and environmental preservation. Eligible applicants must be Vacaville residents, demonstrate financial need, maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and show community involvement while planning to attend a four-year college as full-time students.

The CFEC Emergency Grants provide crucial support for nonprofits in Elkhart County facing unexpected challenges. These grants are designed to assist organizations responding to urgent events like natural disasters, theft, or facility issues that threaten their operations. By offering rapid financial assistance, the program ensures that vital community services can continue even in times of crisis, helping nonprofits maintain stability and fulfill their missions effectively.

The William Penn Foundation is dedicated to enhancing public spaces in the Greater Philadelphia region through strategic funding. With a focus on fostering community engagement, improving safety, and ensuring equitable access, the foundation aims to support projects that activate and diversify public spaces. Grants will prioritize organizations with budgets under $1 million and those led by historically marginalized groups. The foundation has $4.5 million available for this initiative, encouraging collaborative proposals that leverage community strengths.

The Sheriff John Middleton Memorial Scholarship, established by friends to honor Sheriff John Middleton, offers financial support to employees or dependents of Taylor County law enforcement agencies. The Community Foundation of Abilene administers this scholarship, which awards between $500 and $5,000. Payments are made directly to educational institutions each semester. This scholarship reflects the values of dedication and integrity embodied by Sheriff Middleton, who served the community with distinction.

Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) 

Provides more than $1.1 billion for states and urban areas to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to and recover from acts of terrorism and other threats. 

State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) - Hawaii

Provides $415 million to support the implementation of risk-driven, capabilities-based State Homeland Security Strategies to address capability targets. States are required to dedicate 35 percent of SHSP funds to law enforcement terrorism prevention activities. In the State of Hawaii, Honolulu is the designated urban area.

The Tongan Cultural Society Scholarship Fund, established by the Tongan Cultural Society in 2003, provides financial support to Hawaii residents of Tongan ancestry pursuing education in Hawaii. Scholarship amounts vary, typically averaging around $6,000, depending on fund size and applicant qualifications. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. Preference is given to previous recipients and those of Tongan descent.

Scholarship Eligibility

• Graduating high school senior from Palm Beach or Martin County.
• Students graduating from Atlantic, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Olympic Heights, Spanish River, and West Boca High School are not eligible to apply for this scholarship through the Community Foundation but may apply through the Sunburst Foundation by contacting their school guidance counselors for application information.
• Must declare a major in engineering, computer science, chemistry, physics, biology, botany, mathematics, oceanography, geology, pre-dental, pre-medical, pre-veterinary, nursing, astronomy, ecological sciences, pharmacy or zoological sciences.
• Must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in college.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Preference to those who self-identify as a member of a minority group.
