The Hugh M. Nelson Engineering Scholarship, funded by the Erie Community Foundation, supports Erie County residents who are sophomores or juniors enrolled in an ABET-accredited BS Engineering Program at Penn State Behrend or Gannon University. Over $800,000 was awarded in 2023 to help deserving students pursue their educational goals. Selection is based on academic standing, faculty recommendations, involvement in college activities, and financial need.

The Ichabod Crane Central School District Arts and Humanities Fund Grant aims to enhance educational experiences in the arts and humanities for students and teachers. This endowed fund supports a variety of projects including independent studies, new programs, and creative extracurricular activities. Eligible applicants include students, teachers, and community organizations, with grants covering up to 75% of pilot project costs. Preference is given to initiatives that significantly impact the school community.

The Love Your Block Mini-Grant, funded by the City of Newark, aims to enhance community engagement and beautification efforts. This program invites individuals, resident groups, and community organizations to apply for funding to tackle blight through various projects, such as litter reduction and revitalization of public spaces. Grants up to $5,000 will support initiatives that foster pride in neighborhoods and involve local volunteers. Applications are subject to review, ensuring alignment with community needs and city objectives.

The Nashville Bar Association

The Nashville Bar Association, established in 1831, is a professional organization serving the legal community of Nashville, Tennessee. The NBA—with over 2,500 members—is the largest metropolitan bar association in Tennessee.

The David Rutherford Award

The Nashville Bar Foundation (NBF) is currently requesting nominations for the David Rutherford Award. This award will be given to a Fellow of the NBF who exemplifies the memory and ideals of David Rutherford, which include professionalism, charitable contributions in the legal field and in the community as a whole, and the spirit of collegiality among the bench and bar.

The Award shall be given at the Annual Fellows Dinner.

First Interstate Greater Belle Fourche Fund

The First Interstate Greater Belle Fourche Fund officially partnered with the South Dakota Community Foundation in 1989 as a way of supporting nonprofit and charitable projects and organizations in and around the community. The fund is a permanent endowment with the South Dakota Community Foundation and managed by a local board of directors. To date, $334,000 has been raised by the board, who have also distributed over $267,940 in grants back to the community. The First Interstate Greater Belle Fourche Fund celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2014.

The Mary J. Mullarkey Scholarship, funded by The Denver Foundation, supports students of color, women, and LGBTQ+ individuals pursuing law degrees at accredited U.S. law schools. Eligible candidates must be graduating with an undergraduate degree from an accredited Colorado college or St. Norbert College, demonstrate financial need, and show academic excellence along with community contributions. One scholarship of up to $10,000 is awarded annually based on these criteria, promoting diversity in legal education.

Kimball Area Foundation Grant

The Kimball Area Foundation accepts charitable gifts and funds local nonprofits and community projects. Our volunteer board ensures every dollar goes where it's needed most right here!

The Kimball Area Foundation operates as a Community Savings Account (CSA) — a perpetual gift to this community. Funds are invested through the South Dakota Community Foundation, and 4.5% of the average value is granted back to local nonprofits each year. As the fund grows, so does our ability to make a lasting impact right here in the Kimball Area.

Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation

For over 25 years, the Community Foundation has remained committed to leaving a legacy for future generations by promoting philanthropy, providing charitable opportunities, and facilitating donors’ interests. We work alongside donors and community partners to help meet area needs, create solutions, and inspire action to build a vibrant community today and a stronger community for tomorrow. 

Scholarships

The Community Foundation is home to 50 scholarship funds established by generous individuals, organizations and businesses to help students from our community and surrounding areas pursue their dreams through education. 

Charlye Farris Scholarship Endowment

The Charlye Farris Scholarship was established as an endowment fund by the Wichita County Bar Association in 2001 to honor the life and accomplishments of Wichita Falls native, Charlye O. Farris. Charlye was valedictorian of the Booker T. Washington class of 1945 at age 15. She graduated from Prairie View A&M College at 18, and graduated from Howard University with a law degree in 1953. That same year, Charlye returned to Texas to pass the bar exam and become the first Black, female lawyer in Texas. She prevailed during the time of segregation, with odds against her, and achieved professional excellence as a practicing attorney in Wichita Falls for over 50 years, with peers citing her work ethic, courage, and principles as a model for all. The one-time $1,000 scholarship hosted by WFACF is for current college students who graduated from Wichita County high schools, attending or applying to any law school in Texas. 

University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI)

The University of California Humanities Research Institute facilitates experimental, interdisciplinary humanities scholarship through partnerships, research initiatives, and competitive grants.

UCHRI was founded by UC President David Gardner in 1987 as a centerpiece of the University of California’s system-wide investment in humanities research. Over the past three decades UCHRI has promoted innovation and leadership in the practice and sharing of collaborative humanistic research across all 10 UC campuses, nationally, and globally.

Graduate Student Dissertation Support

The Graduate Student Dissertation Support grant offers funds to support dissertation work for UC PhD candidates in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. Support may include travel expenses for dissertation research, supplies such as books or copies directly related to the dissertation topic, and fees for summer institutes likely to advance the dissertation (such as language or theory programs). Funds may not be requested for rent or other regular living expenses. Please note that grant funds may only be used for projects taking place between July 1, 2026 and December 31, 2027. Plan your research travel accordingly.

Who We Are

Founded in 1996, the Community Foundation of South Georgia is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to making South Georgia a better place to live through effective philanthropy. We help individuals, families, nonprofit organizations and businesses establish and manage charitable funds that carry out their philanthropic interests. Serving a geographic area of 35 counties in South Georgia, we facilitate our donors’ charitable plans and goals by creating custom designed funds that meet their specific interests and ensure solid financial management and administration for each fund. 

Harrison Hooks Memorial Scholarship

For a graduating senior from a high school located in Thomas County, Georgia who is enrolled in or intends on enrolling in a college or university located in the state of Georgia and has attained at least a 3.0 GPA in high school. The award is based on Academics, Leadership Qualities, Extracurricular School Activities, Community Service and Financial Need.

University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI)

The University of California Humanities Research Institute facilitates experimental, interdisciplinary humanities scholarship through partnerships, research initiatives, and competitive grants.

Over the past three decades UCHRI has promoted innovation and leadership in the practice and sharing of collaborative humanistic research across all 10 UC campuses, nationally, and globally.

UCHRI Manuscript Workshop and Research Development Program

The UCHRI Manuscript Workshop and Research Development Program supports the publication goals of early- and mid-career faculty members in the humanities and qualitative social sciences while helping them build strong networks of support in their fields and across the University of California. Each participant convenes an online workshop with five experts in their field, including at least three UC faculty, who read and comment on their book manuscript. Based upon successful national models, this workshop provides faculty with quality feedback from experts in the field on a full draft of a pre-promotion book manuscript in preparation for submission to a publisher for a contract or for publication. To accommodate participants’ availability, the workshop can be divided into one or more separate online sessions, but respondents should not be expected to attend more than one session. We encourage applicants to submit full manuscripts for respondents’ review.

The program also provides quarterly research development sessions and culminates in a writing retreat with a press editor. In addition to supporting the publication goals of individual faculty, these workshops build new communities of concern around particular research topics, including areas that may not be fully supported by traditional departmental structures.

This opportunity is open to all UC faculty at the assistant and associate levels in the humanities and qualitative social sciences. Faculty who have contributed substantively to building a culture of inclusive excellence on their campus, have encountered unexpected obstacles in completing their research, and/or are working in emergent or underserved research areas are especially encouraged to apply.

This program is funded by and supports the goals of the Advancing Faculty Diversity Program run by the Office of the Vice Provost of Academic Personnel and Programs at the UC Office of the President.

That’s why the Frankenmuth Credit Union Foundation for Our Communities was formed, to provide grants to promote the betterment of local communities…one smile at a time. It’s our simple gift of friendship, our act of kindness and our pledge of devotion to friends and neighbors.

To date, over $4.6 million funds have been donated since 2014 with over $438,300 donated in 2025 alone to over 400 worthy community causes.

Foundation Grant

The Frankenmuth Credit Union Foundation for Our Communities is a source of grants to promote the betterment of all of our communities.

The ASEEES Dissertation Research Grant, named after Maya K. Peterson, supports doctoral research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia across various disciplines, with a maximum stipend of $6,000. This grant is available to graduate students who have achieved PhD candidacy and are ASEEES members. Applications are encouraged to explore diverse environmental studies topics and must commence research travel by January 31 of the following year. Note that funding excludes tuition and fees.

The Bob Kittleman Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Howard County, provides up to $1,000 for Howard County high school seniors excelling in engineering and applied sciences. Applicants must maintain a 3.4 GPA and plan to pursue higher education. This scholarship aims to support talented students and foster their potential in technical fields, ensuring they have the necessary resources to further their education and career aspirations.

The Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) for Early Stage Investigators (ESI) by NIGMS aims to enhance research productivity and flexibility for early career scientists. This program consolidates funding into a single award, allowing investigators to pursue ambitious projects while reducing administrative burdens. By supporting diverse research initiatives, MIRA helps cultivate a new generation of innovative researchers, ensuring essential breakthroughs in fundamental science.

The ASEEES Dissertation Research Grant in Women and Gender Studies provides funding for graduate students conducting doctoral research in Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Offering up to $6,000, applicants must be PhD candidates with appropriate language skills and ASEEES membership. The grant encourages research in various eligible countries, while considering the complexities posed by current geopolitical situations. This grant aims to support innovative scholarship across disciplines, fostering a deeper understanding of women and gender issues in the region.

The McCasland Foundation, founded in 1950 by T.H. McCasland, focuses on giving back to the community, primarily in Oklahoma. With assets exceeding $35 million, it supports education, cultural organizations, and community projects, emphasizing special initiatives in public schools and universities. The foundation is now also considering grant requests from Louisiana. Its mission reflects a long-standing commitment to enhancing local opportunities and fostering generosity through targeted funding.

Court Reporter Equipment Grant

Students enrolled in a court reporter training program in Iowa. The maximum award is up to $2,000 to reimburse students for the purchase of court reporter equipment and software for the court reporter training program.

The PLTW Engineering program expansion, supported by the Arthur Blanchard Charitable Trust, aims to enhance access to innovative educational opportunities for K-12 students in Massachusetts. Grants are designated for under-resourced schools to implement or expand PLTW programs, covering costs for additional courses, teacher training, and essential supplies. This initiative seeks to foster interest in engineering and technology among students, ensuring they receive a comprehensive education that prepares them for future careers.

The Iowa Humanities Mini Grants provide funding up to $3,000 for organizations aiming to promote cultural understanding and community engagement. Applications are accepted year-round, with a preference for submissions at least four weeks before project start dates. Humanities scholars play a vital role in these projects, encouraging public dialogue and critical thinking. However, due to funding constraints, the availability of these grants is currently uncertain as federal funding has been terminated until further notice.

The Fujieki Family Foundation Scholarship Fund supports graduates of Hawaii public high schools, established in 2018. Eligible applicants must be Hawaii residents with financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.7, and plan to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. Preference is given to those pursuing an AAS degree. This scholarship empowers local youth by providing essential financial support for their higher education.

The A. Montgomery Ward Foundation Grant supports nonprofit organizations that enhance educational and cultural programs in Chicago and surrounding areas. Established in 1959, it aims to empower local communities through quality programming. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) organizations, focusing on arts, culture, and education. Grants typically last for one year, with a commitment to fostering community growth and development.

Community Foundation of Mason County – MCCF, Inc. Community Grants Program Guidelines

The Community Foundation of Mason County – MCCF, Inc. is a county wide community foundation serving Mason County, WV. The Foundation’s Gordon and Mildred Jackson Foundation and Mason County Community Grant Programs are a competitive application process.

Funding Priorities for Operating Support Grants

Funding for operating support is considered.

• Document increased demand for services, unexpected reduction in sources of ongoing operating support, or a specific current financial challenge for which a plan is in place to mitigate;
• Show evidence that it has gone through an internal process of cost-reduction and/or realistic revenue-enhancement analysis focused on core service preservation prior to the request.
• Demonstrate that it has completed an organizational assessment and developed a realistic plan for financial stabilization.
• Show how the operating support grant will increase financial stability and/or help the organization make significant progress toward addressing its financial challenge.

• Present a realistic plan for organizational growth, outlining how operating support is critical to the growth plan (to expand services, offer new programs, reach new audiences, etc.).
• Include a plan for the organization to have adequate funding at the completion of the grant.

The River Falls Community Foundation Big Idea Grants aim to enhance the quality of life in River Falls, Wisconsin. With grants up to $25,000, this program seeks innovative projects that support community pride, assist underserved citizens, and address environmental concerns. Open to qualified non-profit organizations, the initiative is driven by a volunteer board dedicated to ensuring that donations effectively improve the community's future well-being. Applications are accepted every other year.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is funding initiatives to enhance the value of scientific datasets through innovative artificial intelligence (AI) methods. This program aims to facilitate interdisciplinary research and unlock new insights by applying AI for feature extraction, metadata generation, and dataset integration. Proposals should ensure data security and promote collaboration with various sectors to advance AI-driven scientific discovery. By aligning with NSF priorities, researchers can contribute to cutting-edge science and technology for broader participation in STEM.

The Grandville Walker Foundation Grants aim to enhance the quality of life in the Grandville and Walker communities by partnering with local donors to build a permanent endowment fund. This fund ensures that grants are available for community needs both now and in the future. With a strong community connection, the foundation focuses on local programs, leadership development, and talent retention, making a lasting impact on the residents.
