Healthy Lakes & Rivers Grants

Healthy Lakes & Rivers grants provide funding to qualified organizations to help facilitate the installation of practices on public or private property to improve habitat and water quality. They support five simple and inexpensive best practices including fish sticks, native plantings, diversions, rock infiltrations, and rain gardens. Practices must follow department guidelines published in the Healthy Lakes and Rivers Action Plan and supporting technical guidance. The Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation offers Fish & Wildlife Grants to support projects focused on native freshwater fish, wildlife, and their habitats. These grants aim to achieve significant conservation outcomes and encourage habitat enhancement and restoration. Eligible applicants include governments, First Nations, and NGOs, with a priority on projects that yield tangible results. Additionally, seed grants of up to $5,000 are available for preliminary project planning, facilitating the development of full proposals within two years.

The WSRCO Community Forests Grant Program empowers Washington communities to safeguard their working forest heritage. Eligible applicants include cities, tribes, and nonprofit organizations, enabling diverse groups to engage in vital conservation projects. Typical initiatives include purchasing land for forest conservation and enhancing habitat health. This program plays a crucial role in maintaining the environmental and cultural integrity of Washington's forests for future generations.

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality offers funding through low-interest loans, Principal Forgiveness, and grants for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater projects. These financial resources support the construction of infrastructure to improve water quality and address emerging contaminants. Eligible applicants include municipalities and public authorities. The program emphasizes sustainability, with additional funding for green initiatives and studies addressing PFAS contamination. This initiative promotes community health and environmental protection through enhanced water management.

The Strategic Initiative Grants by the Winston-Salem Foundation aim to build an inclusive economy for Black communities in Forsyth County. The program supports organizations focused on economic empowerment, addressing systemic inequities that affect Black residents. Grants are available for initiatives that create pathways to high-paying careers, promote financial stability, and support Black-owned businesses. This program reflects a commitment to fostering sustainable growth and equitable opportunities for all community members.

The Lewiston-Auburn Program Grant, supported by the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation and other funders, aims to enhance community collaboration in Lewiston and Auburn. It focuses on four priority areas: equitable municipal systems, workforce access, community health, and affordable housing. With an available funding of $1,710,000, grants will primarily support multi-year projects, encouraging partnerships that uplift youth and marginalized communities. County Forest Land Acquisition Grants

Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program

In 2007, the Wisconsin Legislature made changes to the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program (s. 23.0953, Wis. Stats.) allowing counties with lands entered under the County Forest Program (s. 28.11, Wis. Stats. [exit DNR]) to compete for land acquisition funding under Stewardship.

Grant applications are evaluated jointly by a ranking panel consisting of staff from DNR Forestry and the Wisconsin County Forests Association (WCFA) and selected for funding based on ranking criteria and priorities set forth in s. NR 51.960, Wis. Adm. Code [exit DNR].

GFO-26-601 - Charger Service Skills Accelerator Grant Program

This is a competitive grant solicitation. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC’s) Clean Transportation Program announces the availability of up to $6,000,000 in grant funds for projects that will increase the qualified workforce needed to service electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. 

Funding will support training that leads to portable, industry-recognized credentials and may be used to expand existing training programs to include EV charging equipment service.

Background

Assembly Bill (AB) 118 (Nuñez, Chapter 750, Statutes of 2007), created the Clean Transportation Program. The statute authorizes the CEC to develop and deploy alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help attain the state’s climate change and clean air goals. AB 126 (Reyes, Chapter 319, Statutes of 2023) reauthorized the funding program through July 1, 2035 and focused the program on zero-emission transportation. 

The Clean Transportation Program has an annual budget of approximately $100 million and provides financial support for projects that:

• Develop and deploy zero-emission technology and fuels in the marketplace.
• Produce alternative and renewable low-carbon fuels in California.
• Deploy zero-emission fueling infrastructure, fueling stations, and equipment.
• Establish workforce training programs and conduct public outreach on the benefits of alternative transportation fuels and vehicle technologies.

The CEC, in collaboration with the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB), is further committed to integrating the California Jobs First Strategic Sectors https://jobsfirst.ca.gov/blueprint/ and California Jobs First Regional Plans https://jobsfirst.ca.gov/regions/ that will support the creation of and access to family-supporting jobs including prioritizing industry sectors for future growth.  

MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AWARD AMOUNTS

• The minimum CEC award amount per application is $500,000 and the maximum award amount per application is $2,000,000. Applicants must request at least $500,000.

The project titled 'Aquatic Fauna Response to Ecosystem Restoration in Southwest Florida' aims to assess the effects of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) on aquatic fauna. It will utilize a Monitoring and Assessment Plan (MAP) to evaluate responses of aquatic communities and inform future restoration efforts. This initiative is crucial for documenting CERP benefits and guiding further ecosystem restoration, ultimately benefiting the public by tracking progress in ecological recovery.

Shared Decision-Making Program NOFA

To implement shared decision-making (SDM) tools targeted to labor and delivery hospitals and to pregnant and postpartum women through the TeamBirth program. The goals of Team Birth are to train providers to consistently use and integrate shared decision-making into care interactions, increase collaboration between the patient and health care provider, empower patients to make informed decisions about maternity care, improve patient experience during maternity care, reduce adverse maternal health outcomes, and increase the use of data to inform changes within participating hospitals.

The Proposition 68: Fish and Wildlife Improvement Grant Program provides funding to enhance fish and wildlife habitats across California. This initiative aims to restore rivers and streams, acquire water resources, and improve wetland conditions. Eligible projects include water transfers, habitat improvements, and land acquisitions that support aquatic and riparian ecosystems. With a total budget of up to $30 million, this program plays a critical role in maintaining biodiversity and resilience against climate change.

The John T. Vucurevich Foundation Grant focuses on supporting low-income families by addressing essential needs such as food access, health services, and transportation. The foundation aims to foster community collaboration and strategic partnerships to enhance the well-being of families and children in the Rapid City Area. Grant applications are accepted for projects that demonstrate community need and secure additional funding, with a commitment to transparent and engaged grantmaking.

The Fort Orange Garden Club Centennial Endowed Scholarship is designed for third- and fourth-year undergraduate or current graduate students majoring in plant sciences, conservation, environmental sciences, or landscape architecture. Scholarship recipients must demonstrate financial need and reside in specific counties in New York, including Albany and Schenectady, fostering academic growth while contributing to environmental stewardship.

The Combat Cancer Prevention and Screening Grant aims to enhance the health of rural Iowans by providing essential screening test kits and telehealth equipment for early cancer detection. It focuses on raising awareness about cancer risk factors through media outreach and decreasing radon gas exposure via home test kits and mitigation support. This initiative is part of the Iowa Healthy Hometowns Project, funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' Rural Health Transformation Program.

The Community Forestry Grant (SD) aims to enhance urban tree cover and forest maintenance through educational programs, financial assistance, and technical support. Awarded by the South Dakota Department of Agriculture & Natural Resources, grants up to $5,000 are available for local governments and eligible nonprofits. This initiative promotes awareness of tree benefits, encourages sustainable practices, and implements tree planting programs to improve air quality and combat climate change.

The Charles A. King Trust Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program supports postdoctoral fellows and clinician scientists engaged in clinical and implementation research, aiming to enhance their skills and independence in biomedical research. Established in 1936, this program offers two-year grants ranging from $194,100 to $215,000, including a flexible expense allowance. The upcoming awards will be granted on October 1, 2025, fostering innovation in health services and population health.
