Helen Tomlinson Hobart Scholarship Endowment

Graduates of a public high school in Johnston County with plans to attend an accredited university or community college with a career objective to become a public-school teacher. “Public high school” does not include schools that are considered or classified as charter schools.

The scholarships we award vary each year based on the unique criteria of each scholarship. In 2025, we awarded over $3 million in scholarships to over 500 students, including $1.3 million to 110 students in western NC through our Disaster Relief and Resilience Scholarship.

Alpha Beta Chapter Scholarship Fund

Depending on the scholarship, it may pay for tuition, room and board, books, fees and/or other related educational expenses. This will be outlined in your award notification. The minimum scholarship award amount is $1,000.

NCCF scholarship awards are only issued to not-for-profit institutions and government entities such as public colleges or universities.

Applicants are graduating seniors from high schools in Johnston County who are continuing their education at a college, university, community or junior college, technical school, nursing school, or other post-high school training leading to a degree or associate degree, with preference to those who have financial need.

The CFGC: Next Generation Fund Grant, established by the Gaston Community Foundation, supports charitable initiatives primarily in Gaston County. Since 2000, it has awarded over $193,000 to local nonprofits focused on children's welfare, environmental improvements, and crisis relief. In 2023, the fund emphasizes Health and Wellness, encouraging collaboration among organizations to maximize community impact. This grant fosters grassroots support and sustainable projects, ensuring that resources are used effectively to benefit the county's residents.

The Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix offers the Small Grants Program to support initiatives that strengthen the local Jewish community. With funding up to $3,000, eligible organizations can apply for projects that address urgent needs or leverage matching grants. Since 2017, this streamlined process prioritizes projects that directly impact the Greater Phoenix Jewish community, reinforcing CJP's commitment to innovation, emergency response, and sustainable local Jewish life.

The Rotary Club of Portsmouth's Helping Professions Grant provides essential financial support to residents of the Seacoast looking to enter or advance in direct care professions. With scholarships and grants of up to $5,000, this initiative aims to address the growing shortage of skilled caregivers, ensuring quality care for families and individuals in the community. Eligible applicants can pursue training in various in-demand roles, enhancing their skills and career prospects.

The Robert Eller Study Abroad Scholarship supports eligible students in Cedar Falls by fostering their educational, professional, and personal growth. To qualify, applicants must be Iowa residents, enrolled full-time at UNI with a minimum GPA of 2.75, and have completed at least 30 undergraduate hours. This scholarship encourages students to explore international opportunities while ensuring they have sufficient academic standing and experience.

The Ceramic and Glass Industry Foundation offers Kit Grants for teachers and community members to enhance materials science education through outreach projects. Applicants can request various science kits, including Materials Science Classroom Kits, Mini Kits, and Glass Kits, while adhering to specific limitations. Virginia Clean Energy Innovation Bank (“VCEIB”) Direct Funding

Accelerating the Deployment of Clean Energy Infrastructure Statewide

The Virginia Clean Energy Innovation Bank (VCEIB) accelerates the deployment of clean power generation and energy infrastructure across the Commonwealth. VCEIB mobilizes public and private capital to address critical financing gaps in the clean power generation and infrastructure sectors.

VCEIB serves as a hub for financing cleaner, more reliable energy infrastructure throughout the commonwealth. It connects projects and companies with capital from federal, state, and private funding sources. The bank partners with a range of other state agencies and programs to identify investment opportunities and is currently seeded with $10 million through the amounts as allocated in the 2024 State Budget. By housing it within the Department of Energy, only $750,000 of the $2 million set aside for administrative purposes is slated for use due to economies of scale, leaving the remaining $9.25 million used for investments into clean energy infrastructure projects.

What types of projects are be eligible for funding under VCEIB?

Projects that support the goals of Virginia's Energy Plan, such as clean power generation and energy infrastructure, are eligible for funding. For example, projects may include advanced nuclear energy innovations, solar supply chain investments, microgrid installations, grid modernization, battery storage deployments, and more.

What forms of funding does VCEIB provide to projects?

VCEIB will provide loans, credit enhancements, and other forms of support, with a focus on financial instruments that recycle such that the bank can continuously reinvest the funds in additional projects across the Commonwealth.

The Women in Philanthropy Grants, awarded by the Madison County Community Foundation, support nonprofit projects that benefit women and children in Madison County. Established in 2005, this initiative fosters collaboration among women philanthropists and has grown its endowment fund to over $175,000. Participation is open to all women in the county who wish to enhance the quality of life for women and children. Finalists must attend a luncheon on April 11 to celebrate impactful grantmaking.

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts offers Capacity-Building Grants to support artists in Franklin, Hampshire, or Hampden counties. Each grant provides $2,500 along with professional development, coaching, and community-building resources. This initiative aims to enhance the sustainability of artists from diverse backgrounds, encouraging those who have not received grants previously to apply. Youth Empowered Philanthropy (YEP) is a transformative program offered by the Community Foundation that teaches students in grades 10-12 about charitable giving. By empowering youth to make impactful decisions with real funding, YEP fosters a vibrant community in Allen County. Participants learn about nonprofit organizations, grantmaking, and develop essential skills like public speaking and critical thinking. The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Buddhism Public Scholars Fellowships offer recent PhD graduates in Buddhist Studies the opportunity to work at host institutions such as museums and libraries. New Bern Breakfast Rotary Todd Denson Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Criteria

Graduates of high schools in Craven County, North Carolina, or Craven County, North Carolina residents graduating from high school.

The W. M. Keck Foundation's Research Grant Program funds innovative medical research and engineering projects that challenge existing paradigms and explore new territories. Eligible applicants include research universities and independent institutes. Grants support groundbreaking technologies and methodologies, with emphasis on high-risk projects that could lead to transformative impacts. However, funding excludes general operating expenses and grants to individuals. The Foundation awards grants biannually, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches.

The Helen & Howard R. Marraro Prize in Italian History, awarded annually by the American Historical Association, honors exceptional works in Italian history, cultural history, or Italo-American relations. Established in 1897, this prestigious award recognizes books published in English by North American historians. Currently valued at $1,000, submissions for the 2025 award must have a copyright of 2024. Winners will be announced in October 2025, with a ceremony at the January 2026 AHA annual meeting in Chicago.
