Cherokee Nation/Tribal Council At-Large Scholarship

Applicant must be a current, full-time student or a graduating high school senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Must reside outside of the Cherokee Nation jurisdictional area and be accepted to a two-year or four-year higher education institution. This is a one-year scholarship reserved for Cherokee Nation citizens who do not qualify for the Cherokee Nation College Resource Undergraduate Scholarship.

This is a one-year, $5,000 award not limited by residence.

Cherokee Nation Foundation Scholarship

The Cherokee Nation Foundation scholarship is available to Cherokee Nation students who have attended one of CNF’s immersive preparatory programs (College Prep Camp or CCPI) in the summer before their 11th or 12th grade year. The scholarship is eligible for renewal for up to four years and awarded upon high school graduation and enrollment in a higher education institution.

Cherokee Nation Businesses Scholarship

Must be enrolled fulltime with a minimum of 12 hours in an accredited College or University and have a minimum of 48 hours completed and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Recipients must demonstrate a likelihood of providing professional services within the Cherokee Nation Businesses upon graduation and will receive priority review for consideration in the CNB Internship Program. Approved areas of study: Business, Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, Marketing, Mass Communications, Museum Studies, Film Studies.

Cherokee Nation Behavioral Health Scholarship

Applicant must be a full-time student with at least 60 credit hours pursuing a degree in a behavioral health field or a doctoral candidate enrolled in an accredited clinical psychology program and maintain a 3.0 GPA. Undergraduate recipients must demonstrate a likelihood of providing professional services within the Cherokee Nation Reservation, and graduate or doctoral recipients must be agreeable to a period of grant payback in service to the Cherokee Nation upon graduation and successful certification. Graduate or doctoral recipients must agree to a period of grant payback in service to the Cherokee Nation for a period that is equal to the number of scholarship years provided while pursuing the behavioral health degree. Such agreement shall be evidenced by a signed agreement for grant payback through service hours. Paid practicums will be available as determined by the review committee for eligible recipients enrolled in an accredited clinical psychology doctoral program. Funding for this scholarship opportunity is made possible thanks to the Public Health and Wellness Fund Act.

Chester T. Dickerson, Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Graduate of a public high school, vocational or technical school or other form of public 9th through 12th grade education, as well as home-schooled students.

Awards:

• One time award of $1,500. 

Scholarship amounts vary depending on the scholarship applied for. Applicants are encouraged to apply for as many awards as they are eligible to increase the likelihood of receiving one or more awards.

Scholarships can be used for cost of attendance, direct education expenses, including tuition, books, and/or other school-related fees.

If you receive an award, be sure to complete your scholarship acceptance form (online portal). Scholarship awards are paid directly to the academic institution by the end of August.

Renaissance Education Scholarship Fund

This Fund was created in 2007 by retired Sycamore teacher Yvonne Johnson and provides scholarship support to an individual who has been in the work force and desires to return to the academic world in pursuit of a college degree. The award is renewable up to three consecutive years following the initial award and can be used for tuition at any accredited university or community college for expenses associated with undergraduate study. The recipient can seek a degree in any field of study, but must demonstrate evidence of interest in the chosen field. This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation.

Eligible candidates are evaluated based on school and community involvement, leadership potential, financial need, and an essay response. The University of Tulsa/Cherokee Nation Foundation Scholarship aims to support Cherokee Nation citizens pursuing higher education. Eligible applicants include undergraduate students and graduating high school seniors accepted to the University of Tulsa. This renewable scholarship lasts up to five years, contingent on maintaining a 3.0 GPA and good standing. A letter of reference is also required for consideration, reinforcing the foundation's commitment to fostering educational opportunities and reducing student debt among Cherokee students.

The Sports 4 Life Grants, co-founded by the Women’s Sports Foundation and ESPN, aim to promote the health and development of girls in underserved communities. This initiative focuses on increasing participation and retention rates of Black, Hispanic, and Native American girls in sports through funding for coaching, equipment, and facilities. By fostering leadership and self-esteem, the program seeks to empower young girls and provide them with lifelong benefits from sports participation.

The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia's Saving Historic Places Grant Program aims to fund the renovation and preservation of historic school buildings in rural communities facing economic challenges.
