Community Impact Grants

Community Impact Grants (CIG) are made in the fields of: Arts and Culture, Education, Health and Human Services, Recreation, Youth and Family Services, and Community and Economic Development. The Foundation focuses on: Capital and Equipment Projects, Program Development, Capacity Building, and Operating Support. 

Community Impact Grants: Capacity Building

Capacity Building Grants support projects that provide an organization with technical assistance and/or training to be able to more effectively meet their mission and/or provide services

Priority is given to projects that:  

• have significant impact on the people and communities served by the applicant organization;
• reach new audiences, expand existing programs or services, or respond to emerging needs;
• strengthen the organization’s capacity to deliver its services and meet community needs;
• are well-planned and can reasonably be achieved; 
• have a matching grant opportunity or seek a matching grant to leverage more funding;  
• have limited access to other sources of support; 
• serve the Mason County community.

Important Information for Grant Seekers

• Organizations may submit only one application per grant cycle. The only exception may be for organizations that have more than one physical site, with each site having its own board or governance structure. Such organizations must contact the Foundation before submitting more than one application to discuss eligibility.

• The total amount of funds requested generally may not exceed $10,000. Requests for more than $10,000 may be considered for projects that are highly collaborative or for projects that will have a significant impact on the community at large. As noted above, applicants must contact the Foundation prior to submitting a request in excess of $10,000.

• Organizations receiving a Community Grant in any grant cycle from the Foundation are not eligible for funding in the immediate next cycle.

• When the Foundation declines to support an application, the applicant may call the Foundation to discuss their proposal and to inquire about reapplying. After an application is declined once, the organization may re-submit the application one more time; if an application has been declined twice, then the organization may not submit another request for funding of the same project. 

Grant requests will be considered based on the applicant’s service area and on grant funds available.

The Patricia D. Klingenstein Grants Program, established by the Sadie & Harry Davis Foundation, offers funding between $5,000 and $25,000 to support organizations addressing the health needs of Maine’s children, particularly those from low-income and under-resourced communities. Projects should enhance physical, mental, and social well-being, with a 12-month project period. The program emphasizes support for organizations with annual budgets under $5 million, fostering equity for diverse populations.

The Charles B. Mathis Memorial Trust Grant supports residents of Ocean County, NJ, focusing on the elderly, poor, sick, and handicapped. Established by Henry C. Mathis, the trust promotes education, good government, and morals. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt and operate locally to qualify. Preference is given to educational initiatives and assistance programs. Applications are accepted year-round, with a submission deadline of April 15 for annual reviews.

The Downing-Nix Trust Grant provides funding for organizations engaged in research on muscular dystrophy, maintaining treatment wards in Atlanta hospitals, offering veterinary medicine scholarships, and supporting shelters for small animals. Organizations must qualify as 501(c)(3) charities. Applications are accepted year-round, but submissions by April 15 are required for annual meeting reviews. Priority may be given to hospitals and veterinary schools within Atlanta, GA.

The Public Education, Participation, and Outreach Grant Program, initiated by the Colorado Water Conservation Board, supports education and outreach initiatives for water conservation. This grant enables coordinators to work closely with basin roundtables, facilitating community engagement on water issues. With funding up to $25,000, the program aims to enhance public awareness and education about water resources, ensuring sustainable management for future generations. Eligible entities include governments and individuals, fostering collaboration across Colorado's nine river basins.

The VCA General Operating Support program provides vital funding for medium and large arts organizations in Virginia, aimed at supporting their operational needs. Eligible organizations must have a minimum cash income of $150,000 from the previous year and meet specific criteria to ensure they can deliver quality arts programming. This funding aims to strengthen the cultural fabric of Virginia by enabling these organizations to expand and enhance their services for the community.

The Public Education, Participation, and Outreach Grant Program, established by the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB), is designed to fund statewide education and outreach initiatives. It supports financial backing for coordinators who facilitate basin-specific outreach. The program aims to advance education campaigns, awareness surveys, and initiatives that align with CWCB priorities, promoting water conservation and management across Colorado's diverse water basins.

The SC INBRE: Mentored Student Pilot Projects (MSP) program offers undergraduate and graduate students in South Carolina funding of $3,000 for one year to conduct small, well-defined research projects under faculty mentorship. This initiative supports career development and hands-on training in biomedical research, enhancing the research capacity of member institutions. Applications are encouraged from students who have not previously held an SIRP award, fostering diversity in research participation.

Trauma-Informed Substance Use Prevention Program (TISUPP) 

Governor Katie Hobbs’ Office of Youth, Faith and Family, issues this Request for Grant Application (RFGA) Solicitation concerning the Arizona Trauma-Informed Substance Use Prevention Program (TISUPP) in accordance with A.R.S. §41-2701. Applications for this program will only be accepted through the State’s web-based grants management system, Euna Grants (formerly eCivis). 

The GOYFF Trauma-Informed Substance Use Prevention Program (TISUPP) establishes a critical investment in community-level and institutional protective factors designed to mitigate the long-term risk of substance use and poor health outcomes. Supported by funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), GOYFF extends this grant opportunity to Arizona community partners with the specific goal of bolstering protection against substance use within high-need communities across the state.

TISUPP is a comprehensive approach to substance use primary prevention and focuses on the root causes of substance use, using a trauma-informed approach for implementation. Primary prevention is a strategy used to stop substance use before it ever starts. Instead of waiting for a problem to happen and then trying to fix it, primary prevention focuses on keeping healthy people healthy. This approach works by helping people learn about the risks of drugs and alcohol. It also focuses on building strong, safe communities so that people do not feel the need to start using substances in the first place.

The Walking Classroom Grant Program, offered by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, enables classroom teachers in public schools to receive donated materials for their students. This innovative program promotes physical activity while maintaining instructional time through engaging podcasts. Ideal for grades 3-8, it enhances cognitive function and retention. Schools with the greatest need, both socioeconomically and academically, are prioritized, ensuring that all students can benefit from this unique educational approach.

The M&M Area Community Foundation's Women's Giving Circle focuses on empowering women and girls in Marinette and Menominee Counties. Through funding projects that directly address their unique challenges, the Circle aims to inspire and support initiatives that create lasting change in the community. By connecting donors with impactful opportunities, the Foundation fosters a culture of giving that enriches local lives and strengthens community ties.

The Teens for Tomorrow Grant, offered by the Quad Cities Community Foundation, empowers high school students to support nonprofits in Rock Island County, IL, and Scott County, IA. With a total of $10,000 available each year, grants focus on critical community issues such as domestic violence, homelessness, immigration support, and food insecurity. Eligible 501(c)3 organizations can apply for operational and program support to enhance the well-being of local residents.

N.C. Forest Service - Timber Loss Relief Program

Program Overview

The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services was awarded a U.S. Department of Agriculture block grant to support Hurricane Helene recovery. Part of these disaster recovery funds will be administered by the N.C. Forest Service through a new Timber Loss Relief Program (TLRP). TLRP funds will be used to partially compensate eligible woodland owners for the value of timber loss as a result of Hurricane Helene. 

The Guy A. and N. Kay Arboit Charitable Trust Grant, administered by First American Bank, focuses on supporting education for underprivileged individuals, funding cardiac and cancer research, and endorsing religious activities, especially those tied to the Catholic Church. Grants are primarily available to organizations in the greater Chicago area that face challenges in accessing other funding sources, ensuring targeted assistance where it is most needed.

The Nick Van Pernis Scholarship Fund, established in memory of Nick Van Pernis, supports students from Hawaii's west side pursuing degrees in Marine Science, Biotechnology, Health Sciences, or Early Childhood Education. Eligible applicants must demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, and engage in community service. Preference is given to prior recipients who continue to meet requirements. This fund aims to empower students to positively impact the lives of Hawaii residents through their chosen careers.

The PERF: Career Development Grants - CNS Elterman Research Grant, established by the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Foundation in partnership with the Child Neurology Society, supports early-stage investigators in pediatric neurology. Eligible candidates can receive $150,000 over two years to conduct clinical or basic science research. This initiative aims to foster the development of researchers focused on pediatric epilepsy and related conditions, enhancing the field through innovative studies and collaboration.

​Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Use SiteBased Program (COSSUP) Wisco​nsin Deflection Initiative (WDI) Technology Implementation 2024(2026) 

This competitive grant provides funding to sites participating in the Wisconsin Deflection Initiative (WDI) to modernize deflection program processes through technology implementation. ​

Funds will support software, applications, and equipment to increase the efficiency of deflection screening, mobile case management of participants, and participant engagement and interaction. Technology implementation will improve program effectiveness, enhance data collection, and create operational efficiencies for deflection program staff.

Anticipated Funding Amount

$500,000 is available through this initiative. Individual awards are available for up to $50,000 for an initial project period. Project start dates and periods will vary depending on when applications are submitted and approved. Sites ready to begin immediately may receive funding as early as April 1, 2026, while applications will be accepted through August 31, 2026. Project budgets should reflect the specific project period based on anticipated start date.

The NIHCM Foundation's Television and Audio Journalism Award honors outstanding television and audio reporting that contributes to enhancing the affordability, accessibility, and quality of healthcare in the U.S. With a prize of $20,000, the award seeks entries that showcase creativity and originality while providing new insights relevant to health plans, policymakers, and consumers. Eligible entries include stories broadcasted in 2025, focusing on critical healthcare issues.

The Rhode Island Foundation's Specialized Health Funds program, starting in 2025, will consolidate several funds to support nonprofit organizations addressing health needs in Rhode Island. Key focus areas include care for individuals with renal disease, cancer, and disabilities, as well as support for children with low-vision and blindness. Applications for summer camps are due by April 25, 2025, while other projects must be submitted by August 18, 2025.

The In-N-Out Burger Foundation supports organizations that aid children and youth affected by abuse and neglect, offering grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000. Eligible nonprofits must be 501(c)(3) registered, operational for at least two years, and demonstrate a commitment to the foundation's mission. Applications are considered for traditional, capital, and program support, focusing on sustainable solutions and clear objectives. Organizations must operate in areas with In-N-Out Burger locations to qualify.

The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County is dedicated to enhancing educational experiences through the Arts in Education Grants.
