Marshall Community Foundation: Mini Grant

Funding Amount

• Up to $750

The Marshall Community Foundation reviews/awards grants quarterly and yearly based upon the size of the grant request. (Grant applications can be submitted at any time.) Grants are awarded to agencies across Calhoun County that benefit residents of the City of Marshall and surrounding townships. Grants are intended to be a flexible local funding opportunity that can respond to community needs.

Application priorities include, but are not limited to:

• Yields substantial community benefits for the resources invested
• Facilitates cooperation and enhances collaboration among organizations
• Avoids duplication of services
• Benefits the greatest number of people in the community and attracts volunteer resources
• Strengthens or improves the self-sufficiency and efficiency in areas such as, but not limited to:

The Marshall Community Foundation will only consider granting to organizations who have submitted final reports for all previous grants. Final reports must be approved by the Board of Trustees. The approval process may take up to three months.

Building Bright Futures

Building Bright Futures (BBF) works to improve the well-being of young children and families in Vermont. The BBF Network includes 12 Regional Councils, seven Strategic Plan Committees, and the State Advisory Council.

The State Advisory Council advises the Governor and Legislature on the well-being of children in the prenatal period through age 8 and their families. BBF maintains Vermont’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan, a shared vision and roadmap to ensure that every young child in Vermont has the resources, opportunities, and support to thrive.

 Vermont Early Childhood Fund

The Vermont Early Childhood Fund is a Building Bright Futures (BBF) program. VECF grants support creative solutions that will improve the well-being of children from the prenatal period to age 8, their families, and the Vermont communities where they live. These grants are open to nonprofits, businesses, municipalities, and schools.

These are not reimbursement-based grants; grantees will receive the full grant award at the start of the grant period.

Supporting Young Children and Families

VECF is focused on strengthening systems that support Vermont’s young children and families. This funding will prioritize one-time investments that expand capacity, improve infrastructure, and increase reach. The grant round is made possible through a combination of philanthropic support and the Building Bright Futures License Plate fund.

Equity Commitment

BBF envisions a future where every family in Vermont feels welcome, supported, and safe. We prioritize funding programs that address barriers faced by communities most impacted by economic insecurity and that advance equity, belonging, and justice. Projects that serve families furthest from opportunity—including, but not limited to, supporting family safety and basic needs of immigrant and migrant worker populations—will receive strong consideration.

Funding Priority: Meeting Basic Needs

BBF will fund systems-level improvements that strengthen food security and transportation infrastructure serving children in the prenatal period to age 8 and their families, including:

Food Security

• Upgrading systems and infrastructure to improve food distribution
• Expanding equitable access pathways (mobile markets, delivery models, grocery incentives)
• Strengthening farm-to-early-childhood initiatives
• Reducing barriers to Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) participation
• Improving dignity and accessibility within food distribution systems

Transportation

• Expanding transportation pilots and regional solutions
• Strengthening low-barrier transportation assistance programs
• Increasing access to micro-transit, flex-route, and on-demand models
• Supporting transportation solutions for families experiencing homelessness, immigrants, and migrant farmworker families

These funding priorities are aligned with Goal 1 of Vermont’s Early Childhood Strategic Plan: All Children and Families Have Their Basic Needs Met.

The Water and Environment Grant Program by the American Water Charitable Foundation supports innovative community projects aimed at improving watersheds, conserving water, and enhancing access to recreation in underserved areas. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and educational institutions located within American Water's service areas. Projects must be completed within 12 months, and applicants should consider budget feasibility when requesting funds. Certain organizations and projects, such as those not classified as 501(c)(3), are ineligible.

United Health Foundation

The United Health Foundation was established by UnitedHealth Group in 1999 as a nonprofit, private foundation dedicated to improving health and healthcare. To date, the United Health Foundation has committed $880 million to programs and communities around the world, including a $100 million commitment to help support the healthcare workforce.

With four distinct types of support available, this grant encourages excellence in arts education and facilitates collaboration among local arts agencies, ensuring that cultural initiatives thrive throughout the state.

The Cushman Foundation Grant aims to support community and humanitarian efforts in San Diego County. The foundation focuses on areas such as aid to seniors, arts and culture, education, and health and well-being. Eligible applicants include current 501(c)(3) organizations located in the region. The foundation is committed to giving back to the community it has served for generations, fostering positive change and promoting human welfare through its initiatives.

The Dirk Nowitzki Foundation Grant supports 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations dedicated to improving children's wellbeing, health, and education. Established by NBA star Dirk Nowitzki, the foundation aims to uplift children affected by illness, poverty, and neglect. Grants are awarded annually to projects that align with these goals, ensuring impactful experiences for children. Organizations are encouraged to apply, but the foundation does not fund the same organization twice in a calendar year or cover salaries, travel costs, or religious programs.

The Assisting Specialty Crop Exports initiative aims to enhance U.S. specialty crop market access by developing low-oxygen storage and packaging systems for tree nuts. By addressing phytosanitary requirements and pest control, the initiative supports producers in maintaining product quality while complying with international standards. This funding opportunity from the Foreign Agricultural Service encourages innovative solutions that can improve export processes and reduce reliance on costly fumigation methods, ultimately benefiting U.S. agribusiness and ensuring competitiveness in global markets.

Applications for the community foundation grants should address:

GFO-26-601 - Charger Service Skills Accelerator Grant Program

This is a competitive grant solicitation. The California Energy Commission’s (CEC’s) Clean Transportation Program announces the availability of up to $6,000,000 in grant funds for projects that will increase the qualified workforce needed to service electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment. 

Funding will support training that leads to portable, industry-recognized credentials and may be used to expand existing training programs to include EV charging equipment service.

Background

Assembly Bill (AB) 118 (Nuñez, Chapter 750, Statutes of 2007), created the Clean Transportation Program. The statute authorizes the CEC to develop and deploy alternative and renewable fuels and advanced transportation technologies to help attain the state’s climate change and clean air goals. AB 126 (Reyes, Chapter 319, Statutes of 2023) reauthorized the funding program through July 1, 2035 and focused the program on zero-emission transportation. 

The Clean Transportation Program has an annual budget of approximately $100 million and provides financial support for projects that:

• Develop and deploy zero-emission technology and fuels in the marketplace.
• Produce alternative and renewable low-carbon fuels in California.
• Deploy zero-emission fueling infrastructure, fueling stations, and equipment.
• Establish workforce training programs and conduct public outreach on the benefits of alternative transportation fuels and vehicle technologies.

The CEC, in collaboration with the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB), is further committed to integrating the California Jobs First Strategic Sectors https://jobsfirst.ca.gov/blueprint/ and California Jobs First Regional Plans https://jobsfirst.ca.gov/regions/ that will support the creation of and access to family-supporting jobs including prioritizing industry sectors for future growth.  

MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AWARD AMOUNTS

• The minimum CEC award amount per application is $500,000 and the maximum award amount per application is $2,000,000. Applicants must request at least $500,000.

The NC Sea Grant-Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership Fellowship offers funding for graduate students in North Carolina to conduct applied research in estuarine management. Supporting focus areas include estuary spatial planning, submerged aquatic vegetation, coastal water quality, ecological flows, and wetlands. The program encourages proposals from students at Historically Black Colleges, Minority Serving Institutions, and those who can demonstrate outreach benefits to underserved communities, aligning with the goals of the North Carolina Sea Grant and APNEP.

The Clean Vessel Act Grant Program, initiated by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, provides essential funding for constructing and maintaining sewage pumpout stations for recreational boaters. With 75% of project costs covered, the program aims to improve environmental protection by preventing sewage discharge into waterways. Grant recipients must ensure facilities are accessible and operational during reasonable hours, promoting public awareness and use of these crucial waste management systems.

HFW Strategic Grants

Healthcare Foundation of Wilson seeks ideas from organizations located in Wilson, NC with a desire to provide programming and services related to our focus areas.

• Access to Healthcare
• Active Living / Healthy Eating
• Alcohol / Substance Misuse
• Behavioral / Mental Health

Request Range

• The amount of the grant can vary but needs to support the development of the program.
• The board of directors prefer to be a partner in a project and not the funder of the entire project.

Funding Priorities

The foundation prioritizes:

• Innovative ideas that support the development or expansion of one or more of our four focus areas.
• Programs focused on youth through age 29.
• Eligible organizations who implement or have a desire to start evidence-based program models identified as having significant outcomes in one or more of the four focus areas.

The Gold Beach Community Fund Grant, administered by the Oregon Community Foundation, offers financial support for various projects aimed at enhancing Central Curry County. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) non-profits and public entities. The fund prioritizes initiatives in recreational activities, cultural enhancement, and youth-related projects. However, individuals and certain expenses like travel and payroll are ineligible for funding. Special preference is given to projects benefiting youth in the Gold Beach area.

The Community Grants Program by the Butler Family Foundation supports organizations focused on environmental stewardship in Minnesota. Grants of $30,000 annually for general support or $20,000 for specific projects are available for 501(c)(3) organizations with budgets over $300,000. The program emphasizes land and water protection, aiming to educate youth on sustainable practices. This initiative seeks to foster community involvement in preserving Minnesota's natural resources.

The Appalachian Landscapes Project Capital Grant, offered by the Open Space Institute, supports vital conservation initiatives aimed at preserving biodiversity and enhancing landscape connectivity. Established in 1974, the OSI has protected over 2.5 million acres in the Eastern US and Canada, focusing on land that ensures clean drinking water and wildlife habitats. This grant is specifically for projects within the Appalachian Landscapes Project service area, promoting sustainable community benefits.

The John C. Bock Foundation supports the preservation and enhancement of natural land areas, particularly those near Lake Mendota, Wisconsin. It aims to educate builders and developers on the importance of conserving mature woodlands and old-growth forests. The Foundation funds educational activities and research while supporting qualified conservation organizations committed to protecting these valuable landscapes. Its mission is centered on public education and the custodianship of natural resources.

The Wildfire & Forest Resilience Directed Grant Program, managed by the California Sierra Nevada Conservancy, aims to enhance community safety and forest health in California. By supporting projects that align with the state's Wildfire and Forest Resilience Action Plan, this program prioritizes funding for initiatives that benefit vulnerable populations. With up to $30.9 million allocated from Proposition 4, the program seeks to address urgent wildfire prevention and resilience needs. Proposals will be accepted until January 31, 2026.

The Cinnabar Foundation provides Program/Project Grants aimed at enhancing conservation efforts in Montana and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. These grants, ranging from $2,500 to $15,000, support organizations that engage in impactful, grassroots conservation work. Priority is given to projects that align with the Foundation's strategic vision, including climate adaptation, wildlife habitat conservation, public land preservation, and improving air and water quality. Successful applicants will demonstrate measurable outcomes and community engagement.

The Water Supply Revolving Loan Account (WSRLA), managed by the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, provides vital financial assistance for enhancing community water systems. For Program Year 2026, the agency invites project nominations, offering low-interest loans and potential principal forgiveness funds. This initiative aims to support necessary improvements in both community and non-profit non-community public water systems, ensuring access to safe drinking water for all Ohio residents.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency's Water Resource Restoration Sponsor Program aims to enhance the state's vital water resources by funding projects that restore and protect high-quality streams and wetlands. Despite progress, challenges like habitat degradation and siltation threaten water quality. The program offers a maximum funding of $15 million to support initiatives that address these ecological concerns and promote biodiversity, ensuring the health of Ohio's waterways for future generations.

The Bethany Legacy Foundation Grant supports organizations in Jefferson County, focusing on innovative solutions for mental and physical health challenges. This grant is open to 501(c)(3) non-profits, churches, and government entities, promoting projects that serve the community and create lasting, positive change. Priority is given to initiatives that align with the Foundation's core focus areas and demonstrate collaboration, sustainability, and a commitment to accessibility for all residents.

The Installation and/or Replacement of Utilities Grant by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) aims to enhance the quality of life in Illinois through funding for permanent capital improvements. This includes installation or replacement of utilities like water and electrical systems, fire hydrants, and drainage improvements. Eligible entities can apply for bondable costs associated with these projects, contributing to a cleaner environment and improved infrastructure.

The Forestland Preservation Grant Program in Washington provides financial support for the acquisition of conservation easements to protect forests from development. This initiative, part of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program, aims to maintain timber production while promoting ecological benefits and public access. Eligible applicants can request funding up to $500,000 for projects that ensure sustainable forest management and habitat enhancement, contributing to the conservation of vital natural resources.

The Harnett County Community Foundation provides support to charitable organizations in North Carolina, particularly those addressing COVID-19 challenges. By forgoing the traditional grant cycle, the foundation aims to assist nonprofits in various sectors, including education, health, and the arts. This initiative aligns with its mission to enhance community welfare through philanthropy and direct action. Organizations eligible for funding must be tax-exempt public charities or local government units, ensuring broad support for local needs.

The Rudolph J and Daphne A Munzer Core Grants focus on community-level support, primarily in Long Beach, CA. The Foundation aims to enhance family support systems, provide educational opportunities for underserved children, and improve access to healthcare for vulnerable populations. Grants range from $10,000 to $125,000, targeting high-priority needs in nonprofit organizations. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt and serve identified communities, ensuring impactful initiatives that align with the Foundation's mission.

The Sheboygan County Stewardship Fund Grant, established by voter support in 2000, aims to enhance recreational opportunities and conserve natural resources in Sheboygan County. The grant funds various projects including land acquisitions and restorations. Eligible applicants include government agencies and 501(c) non-profits. Applications are typically available in late winter/early spring, aligning with Knowles-Nelson State Stewardship funding.
