Skilled Trades Scholarship

The Greater Milan Area Community Fund is proud to support students pursuing skilled trades and hands-on career pathways that build practical skills, open doors to stable employment, and strengthen our local community.

Scholarship awards are typically paid directly to the accredited trade program or educational institution and are generally non-taxable.

Applications are evaluated two times each year for awarding in the six months after application and selection.

We know relatively modest projects can make an outsized difference when they promote environmental stewardship and engage whole communities in conservation. More details about these grants and how to apply can be found on page 5. At least $50,000 is available to support community grants.

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation Grant Cycle 1 supports projects and programs that align with priorities for creating a Milwaukee for all. Funding is available for arts, basic needs, housing, and physical health initiatives. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and governmental agencies, with specific requirements for board diversity. The foundation does not fund individuals, for-profit organizations, or partisan activities. The grant cycle accepts one application per organization.

The United Way of St. Lucie & Okeechobee offers Community Impact Grants aimed at enhancing health, education, and financial stability in the community. Nonprofits serving these counties are encouraged to apply, provided they meet specific eligibility criteria, including being a 501(c)(3) organization and having operational experience of at least two years. HAF+WRCF grant funding supports charitable programs and projects in our region (Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties in California, and Curry County, Oregon). 

Angel Fund

Grant Details

The Angel Fund provides small grants to support the unmet health needs of Humboldt County residents. Grants are made on a one-time basis, per person, per 365-day period. Items that are of a recurrent nature are generally not funded.

Average grants range in size from $50 – $250 (grants in excess of $500 are seldom approved). Decisions to grant funds are contingent upon funding criteria and the availability of funds at the time of review. 

There is a two-week turnaround processing time required for application review and check processing. The committee meets every Tuesday, with the exception of holidays. Occasionally the committee will ask for additional information before making a decision. This will often result in a longer turn-around time.

El Paso County Community Development Block Grant

Since 2009, El Paso County Community Development Block Grant funds have been awarded to local jurisdictions and non-profit organizations. Agencies with experience administering federal funding will likely have adequate internal controls and policies to successfully implement a CDBG funded project. Eligible projects are those that serve low-to-moderate income residents (LMI), create jobs for low-to-moderate income clients (LMJ), or serve a low-to-moderate income area (LMA) within El Paso County.

The Charis Fund Grant supports non-profit organizations in California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada, focusing on social welfare, health, and education. Grants range from $2,500 to $7,500, aimed at addressing issues such as housing, food insecurity, and support for at-risk youth. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) certified and can apply every three years, with specific restrictions on funding for arts and political activities.

The Gerrit R. Ludwig Scholarship Fund supports high school graduates from East Hawai'i pursuing degrees in fine arts or classics. Established by Dr. Gerrit Ludwig, an ophthalmologist with a passion for the arts, this fund aims to assist students who demonstrate financial need and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Eligible applicants must be full-time students at accredited institutions in the US and graduates of East Hawai'i public high schools.

The Oklahoma Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) offers technical and financial aid to farmers, ranchers, and forest landowners to enhance conservation efforts. This program addresses critical natural resource issues, promoting improved water and air quality, soil health, and wildlife habitat. EQIP aims to integrate conservation into agricultural practices, making it feasible for producers to adopt climate-smart practices and improve overall sustainability while receiving financial assistance. Applications are accepted year-round for future funding cycles.

The High-Need Healthcare Career Scholarship Program, offered by the District of Columbia Department of Health, aims to support local residents pursuing careers in high-demand healthcare roles. This initiative addresses critical workforce shortages for positions such as Home Health Aides, Certified Nurse Aides, and Emergency Medical Technicians. Funding is available for training programs that prepare individuals to meet these urgent healthcare needs, enhancing community health services.

The Center of Excellence Grant aims to establish regional hubs within a hub-and-spoke care model to enhance healthcare access for rural Iowans. This initiative, backed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, focuses on improving care coordination in maternal health, mental health, specialty care, and chronic disease management. By leveraging shared resources and collaboration among healthcare providers, the program seeks to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care, ultimately promoting innovation and improving health outcomes in underserved communities.

The Connie Dwyer Breast Cancer Foundation Grant offers crucial funding to support breast health services for underserved women in New Jersey. With a budget of $50,000, the foundation prioritizes projects that enhance screening, treatment, and education on breast health.
