The ScholarshipThis scholarship is provided by the Washington County Maryland School Nutrition Association and is open to graduating high school seniors in Washington County, MD. Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree or certification in Culinary Arts, Nutrition, Dietetics, Hospitality Management, or a related field. 

The Petco Love Foundation, previously known as the Petco Foundation, has been dedicated to animal welfare since 1999. Lawrence Spraragen Memorial Scholarship 

Established to the child or grandchild of a current, active member if IBEW Local 236 or the child or grandchild of the management or staff of a signatory contractor to IBEW Local 236.

Since awarding our first $500 scholarship in 1987, the Saginaw Community Foundation has awarded college scholarships to area students totaling more than $13.7 million, thanks to our generous donors. Each year, over 500 college-bound or career and technical education students benefit from our scholarship awards.

Gene and Donna Mallak Memorial Scholarship

The Gene and Donna Mallak Memorial Scholarship was established by their daughter Jeanne in honor of the tremendous support they gave her to pursue her college dreams. Her hope is that this scholarship will provide the same support for those who receive this award to also pursue their dreams.

The Petfinder Foundation's Disaster Response and Recovery Grants provide crucial support to Petfinder members affected by natural disasters. These grants assist organizations in recovering from events like hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods, ensuring that adoptable pets receive necessary care. Eligible applicants must be active Petfinder members and demonstrate a need due to disasters occurring within the past 60 days. The initiative aims to enhance the resilience of shelters and rescue groups in challenging times.

The KONG Toy Grant, offered by the Petfinder Foundation in collaboration with KONG, aims to enhance the adoptability of shelter pets by providing enriching toys. This initiative supports animal shelters and adopters throughout North America, helping to keep pets mentally stimulated and happy. By focusing on pet enrichment, the grant seeks to increase the chances of successful adoptions, thereby reducing the euthanasia of adoptable animals. The Meijer Children's Health Care Grant Cycle supports nonprofit health organizations in Montcalm County, focusing on programs that improve healthcare access for indigent children. Over eleven million dollars has been distributed by the Greenville Area Community Foundation to enhance community health initiatives. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, schools, and municipalities. The grant prioritizes projects that strengthen families, promote self-reliance, and yield significant community benefits. Applications will be reviewed for final approval by an Advisory Committee.

The Hudson Valley Animal Shelter Fund, established by Jean Rowe's generous bequest, aims to support nonprofit animal welfare agencies in the Hudson Valley indefinitely. Priority is given to organizations in Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam, Sullivan, and Rockland Counties that focus on rescuing and sheltering animals. Eligible applicants must qualify as 501(c)(3) nonprofits or be fiscally sponsored, and serve residents of Orange and Sullivan counties.

The Health Policy Research Scholars program, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, aims to develop leadership among doctoral students from diverse, nonclinical disciplines. This four-year initiative focuses on aligning research with community health needs, emphasizing equity and collaboration across sectors. Scholars will receive $30,000 annually for up to four years, complemented by mentorship and training. The program targets second-year doctoral students who are committed to influencing health policy and fostering a Culture of Health in their communities.

James R. and Anita Horne Jenkins Scholarship

For Anita and Jim Jenkins, giving back has become a way of life. “Both of us have received help from many others throughout our life’s journey,” the couple says. “We believe in giving back and paying it forward.” Among those who helped along the way was a University of Michigan Law School administrator who guided Anita and Jim through the financial aid process and approved an emergency grant when Jim first began working as a judicial clerk for an Illinois State Appellate Court judge and Anita was in her final year at University of Michigan Law School. They also give because they both grew up in households where their parents modeled outreach, care, and assistance to others. “We are thankful for our blessings and for all that others have done for us, and we take seriously our stewardship responsibility to support and give to others in every way that we can,” said Anita and Jim.

Jennifer L. Jackson Memorial Scholarship

Jennifer L. (Hanson) Jackson was a wonderful young woman on a mission to absorb as much knowledge as humanly possible. Graduating second in her class at Arthur Hill High School in 1995, she excelled in academics while also cultivating a deep interest in history and the arts. She was truly a “Star Wars” fan and trivia expert.

Even though Jennifer’s life ended much too early, her spirit lives on with her family. They choose to honor her memory through this scholarship. The successful candidates will be expected to possess high academic promise, good moral character and personal integrity.

The Senior Living Initiative Grant Program aims to enhance the well-being of seniors in St. Joseph County by funding essential services and housing initiatives. This program focuses on fostering independence, safety, and community engagement, prioritizing vulnerable seniors in need. Grants will support innovative ideas and effective resource use to address current and future needs in senior care, making St. Joseph County a leader in meeting its aging population's demands.

The Evans Graham Preservation Award, established in 1998, supports the preservation of historic architecture in Michigan through $30,000 in annual funding. It honors David Evans, a noted preservation architect, and is awarded based on project merit by a jury. Eligible projects must be led by IRS-qualified nonprofits and involve an AIA Michigan architect. Applications open yearly on January 1st, with a submission deadline of March 17th, promoting creativity, community benefit, and preservation excellence.

The Plant Health Undergraduate Studentships, funded by the Royal Society of Biology, provide essential research opportunities for undergraduates in plant health. This program addresses skills gaps by pairing students with leading researchers for hands-on experience, while also supporting projects aligned with Defra's priorities. Students receive £400 per week for 8-10 weeks and participate in a mini-symposium to present their findings. The initiative aims to foster collaboration and innovation in plant health science through diverse research themes.

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds offer grants to support youth sports initiatives in Western New York, focusing on increasing children's participation in sports. The foundation encourages community-driven projects that prioritize children's interests and promote active lifestyles. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that aim to address objectives such as revitalizing local leagues and training coaches. These grants reflect Ralph C. Wilson, Jr.'s commitment to long-lasting community impact and innovation in youth sports.

31Heroes

On August 6, 2011, a tragedy shook the military community and Americans everywhere. In a single instance, America lost 30 military service members, many of whom were members of the Navy SEAL community—and one military K9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan.

Established to honor the 31 Americans killed in action on August 6, 2011, 31Heroes serves to impact the lives of our nation’s heroes and their families, while remembering the fallen, through athletic endeavors and competitive fundraising events.

Our Mission: The mission of 31Heroes is to raise money and awareness through social and athletic events to support the families of Extortion 17 and honor their legacy by funding treatment for Veterans suffering from mental health issues.

Our Focus

Our goal is to create opportunities for the families of Extortion 17 to create healthier lifestyles and to provide financial relief in times of need. We consider it our responsibility to make a positive impact in the lives of each family. Whether through grants we provide, or through partnering with other non-profit organizations that offer programs or services that we do not, we are devoted to the families and creating a legacy the men of Extortion 17 would be proud of.

Guidelines

• Individual limits will not exceed $3750 annually
• Family Grants range from $750 to the maximum range of $1500
• Family members must submit an online application for consideration
• Applications may be submitted at any time during this funding cycle
• Priority and funding will be based on the Primary Next of Kin list

Travel Grants

Travel Grants are aimed at assisting with costs of travel for family members to memorials, Arlington National Cemetery, anniversary events, events surrounding the 31. Limit for this grant is $1500.

The Preschool Development Grant Birth Through Five (PDG B-5) SMART Grant aims to enhance early care and education systems in the U.S. by supporting targeted investments in technology and data analytics. This initiative, led by the Administration for Children and Families, encourages states to improve program quality, family choice, and data-driven decision-making for children from birth to five years old. The funding is designed to create measurable outcomes and strengthen coordination within the mixed-delivery system.

The World Trade Center Health Program K01 Award supports early-career researchers dedicated to enhancing the health of those impacted by the September 11 attacks. This award grants up to three years of mentored research and career development, focusing on the physical and mental health effects of 9/11 exposures. It encourages studies that translate scientific findings into improved clinical care and public health practices, ultimately addressing emerging health concerns and improving long-term outcomes for affected populations.

This initiative aims to enhance clinical and public health outcomes through innovative digital health interventions. It supports research on the development and effectiveness of tools designed for underserved settings, leveraging new technologies and analytics. By fostering collaborations between U.S. and low- and middle-income country researchers, the program emphasizes reciprocal innovation to tackle common health challenges, ultimately maximizing benefits for diverse populations.

The International Research Scientist Development Award (IRSDA) supports U.S. postdoctoral researchers and junior faculty to engage in mentored research and career development in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative promotes collaboration with local researchers, enhancing understanding of the research environment and strengthening international networks. Recipients are expected to spend significant time at LMIC sites, ultimately aiming to develop competitive NIH research proposals and become leaders in global health.

The Power of the Purse in Berks County Fund provides essential grants aimed at empowering women and girls by removing barriers to workforce entry and education. This initiative addresses critical issues such as childcare affordability, transportation, and skill gaps, which hinder many from achieving self-sufficiency. Organizations dedicated to supporting these women and girls are encouraged to apply for funding to make a tangible difference in their lives.

The Howard Gilman Foundation Grant aims to support New York City's vibrant performing arts organizations. By providing general operating support, the foundation fosters long-term partnerships with those that reflect the city's diverse cultural community. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) entities or fiscally sponsored, with a focus on inclusivity and accessibility in the arts. The foundation prioritizes organizations of color and those in underserved neighborhoods, ensuring a thriving arts ecosystem for all.
