Program Purpose

The purpose of Locally Appropriated Funds is to meet the needs of crime victims, to engage the community regarding the social problems related to crime, and to prevent crime. These services support victims through their recovery process, as well as assist them with all stages of the criminal justice process. Victim assistance includes services such as, but not limited to, crisis intervention, case management, counseling, emergency and transitional housing, criminal justice support, and advocacy. Prevention and outreach activities may include such programs as community engagement activities, media campaigns, use of technology, focus groups, or culturally and linguistically appropriate training and engagement.

Gould Medical Group

Open to local college students from Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties pursuing healthcare careers, particularly those entering medical school.

The scholarship amount is $10,000. Up to five (5) students will be awarded.

Virginia Department of Historic Resources

The Virginia Department of Historic Resources is the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) in Virginia. As the SHPO, DHR administers a number of federal programs. DHR is also a state agency in the Natural and Historic Resources Secretariat. DHR fosters, encourages, and supports the stewardship and use of Virginia’s significant architectural, archaeological, and historic resources as valuable assets for the economic, educational, social, and cultural benefit of citizens and communities. Our programs include both the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places, Survey, Grants, Archaeology, Cemetery Preservation, African American and Tribal Outreach, the Historical Highway Marker program, 106 Review and Compliance, Conservation, Collections, Easements, and the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program.

Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants Program- Appalachian Southwest Virginia

The Commonwealth of Virginia has been awarded an additional $750,000 for another round of funding through the National Park Service (NPS)-funded Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grants Program (PBHRGP) to support the rehabilitation of historic buildings and sites in the state’s southwestern region. In alignment with its overarching mission to ensure that Virginia’s historic places are valued and used as assets for education, tourism, environmental sustainability, and economic vitality, DHR will administer the award by establishing a subgrant program to fund approximately three preservation projects in Appalachian Virginia. Public entities and nonprofit organizations based in Southwest Virginia that steward historic places in this 25-county region for the public good will be eligible to apply for funds from the subgrant program.

The PBHRGP is funded though the National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). all programs funded though the HPF must adhere to the HPF Grants Manual. All grant-funded projects must enter into a preservation agreement (short-term covenant that places restrictions on the property and runs with property deed) based on terms defined by the NPS. The Explore the Ozarks Fund Grant aims to enhance conservation education for K-12 students in the Ozarks by providing funding for various educational experiences. Eligible projects can include transportation for field trips, entry costs for students, and curriculum development. The grant requires a 1:1 match from the receiving organization, ensuring community involvement and support for these valuable educational initiatives.

The Ste. Genevieve County Community Foundation supports economic development initiatives aimed at enhancing community quality of life. Through strategic partnerships and grantmaking, the foundation seeks to foster sustainable projects that address local needs while ensuring transparency and collaboration. Applicants must provide documentation of their nonprofit status to qualify for funding. This initiative aligns with their mission of resource development and public leadership in the region.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has provided funding through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to address cybersecurity risks and threats to information systems owned or operated by state, local and territorial governments. EMD and WaTech leaders, in coordination with a planning committee that has broad-based membership, drafted a statewide strategic cybersecurity plan, which was approved by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in July 2023.The goal of the State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) is to help states, local governments, rural areas, and territories address cybersecurity risks and cybersecurity threats to information systems. The program enables DHS to make targeted cybersecurity investments in state, local and territorial government agencies, thus improving the security of critical infrastructure and resilience of the services that state, local, and territorial governments provide to their communities.

Michael J. Wolf Scholarship

Open to high school seniors graduating from a high school in the City of Grand Rapids and residents of the City of Grand Rapids, attending University of Michigan full time, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

The Emma A. Sheafer Charitable Trust supports capacity-building for performing arts organizations in New York City. In 2024, theater organizations are eligible to apply for grants ranging from $15,000 to $30,000 annually, aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and undertaking small-scale capital projects. Eligible applicants must be IRS-designated public charities with budgets under $1 million. E.V. and Eleanor Bowman Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility

Need-based for a student of good moral character who graduated from a high school in Raleigh County, WV, and will attend an accredited college or university in West Virginia; Recipient must have at least a B average in high school.

The Calvin Steven Curran Memorial Scholarship at Montana State University supports incoming freshmen who are Montana high school graduates with a minimum GPA of 3.0. This renewable scholarship prioritizes students from Ophir School in Big Sky, Montana. With no set grant limits, the program typically awards around $5,000 per grant cycle, promoting lasting impacts within the community.

The Community Outreach Grants by The Children's Trust aim to empower community partners by supporting programs that benefit children and families in Miami-Dade County. Leadership is about making a positive difference and can be developed through education, observation, experience, and by working with leader mentors. Service learning provides excellent opportunities for students to develop as servant leaders. Only one team from each school may be nominated.

The Award for Diversity Course Design, initiated by the Society for Music Theory, aims to enhance diversity, inclusion, and social justice in undergraduate music theory courses. Starting in 2025, two annual awards will recognize outstanding syllabi: one for core theory curricula and another for topical courses.
