For High School Seniors & Non Traditional Students who are beginning college more than one year after high school.

The Community Foundation of Wabash County offers a wide variety of post-secondary education scholarships to traditional, non-traditional, and graduate students. With nearly 70 different scholarship endowments created through the generosity of our donors, many students are eligible to apply.    

Terry D. and Carol A. Agness Memorial Scholarship Endowment

Terry and Carol Agness’ children created this scholarship to honor their parents who believed in supporting local community projects like Meals on Wheels, the Honeywell Center, education, and students. The scholarship is awarded to a Purdue student pursuing a degree in engineering or business and is based on academic performance, school activities, church involvement, work experience, and financial need.

The Conservation Connect Fellowship Program, offered by the National Forest Foundation, invites graduate students to engage in hands-on conservation projects. This fellowship provides practical experience, mentorship from conservation professionals, and training in collaborative leadership. Fellows will gain a deep understanding of forest management and expand their professional networks. With a focus on developing future conservation leaders, the program seeks students passionate about public lands and community engagement.

The Formative (Interim) Assessment Grant by the Indiana Department of Education supports schools in utilizing formative assessments to enhance curriculum and instruction. This funding is aimed at public school corporations, charter schools, and accredited non-public schools serving students from kindergarten to grade 10. About the Indiana State Department of Agriculture

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) was established as a state agency by the Legislature in 2005. ISDA reports to the Lt. Governor, who also serves as Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. Major responsibilities include advocacy for Indiana agriculture at the local, state and federal level, managing soil conservation programs, promoting economic development and agricultural innovation, serving as a regulatory ombudsman for agricultural businesses, and licensing grain firms throughout the state.

Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) Grant Program

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture (“ISDA”), Division of Economic Development is seeking applications for the Indiana Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Grant Program (RFSI) to carry out projects that enhance the resilience of middle-of-the-food-supply-chain.  Applicants/Grantees applying for infrastructure program funding are permitted to claim indirect costs under the RFSI Program, not to exceed the 10% de minimis cap. Applicants/Grantees applying for special equipment-only funding are not eligible to claim indirect costs. ISDA encourages applications from woman or veteran owned businesses, socially disadvantaged businesses and historically underserved farmers, ranchers, and underserved communities.

Grant funding may not be used on meat, poultry, wild caught seafood, food for animal consumption or dietary supplements. If these items are included in your project, your project must clearly define what percentage of your project will include these items and you must be able to demonstrate that no grant or matching funds are used for those portions of the project.

Projects must choose ONE of two project options: Option 1- Special Equipment Only; Option 2- Infrastructure Projects. You may not do both project options.

Option 2- Infrastructure Projects

For this project pathway, grant funding requests must be between $100,000 and $3 million. Matching funds of 50% of the total project cost are required unless the applicant qualifies as a Historically Underserved Farmer or Rancher by the USDA standards or a Socially Disadvantaged Business, Women Owned or Veteran Owned business by SBA standards (See Section A for definitions), then you qualify for a 25% match of the total project cost. Infrastructure projects may include, but are not limited to: construction, transportation, equipment, training, renovation, or expansion. Please contact ISDA if you have questions regarding eligibility of your infrastructure project.

UPPA Fund

The Underground Plant Protection Account (UPPA) fund was created by Indiana Code § 8-1-26-24 with the express purpose of funding positive outreach to minimize underground facility damages. Per Indiana Code § 8-1-26-24, money in the UPPA fund may only be allocated to improve the safety of Indiana’s underground plant resources through:

• Public awareness programs concerning underground plant protection
• Training and educational programs for contractors, excavators, locators, operators, and other persons involved in underground plant protection
• Incentive programs for contractors, excavators, locators, operators, and other persons involved in underground plant protection to reduce the number of violations of the Indiana 811 law.

The Fund for the Arts' Sustaining Impact Grant supports first-time applicants by providing general operating support to arts organizations that align with community priorities in Greater Louisville. Eligible organizations must have received a Fund for the Arts grant in the last three years. This grant emphasizes community impact, equity, diversity, and sustainable operations, offering funding based on operating revenues, with a maximum of $500,000 for larger organizations.

The IU Health Values Fund Grant Pilot & Feasibility Program: Education aims to advance the development of healthcare professionals through innovative educational models. By focusing on critical areas such as healthcare disparities, rural health, and behavioral health, this initiative supports the continuous training of providers. The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) leads this effort to ensure that the workforce is equipped to meet evolving healthcare needs and improve patient outcomes.

The Mighty Money Mini Grant from the AWS Foundation aims to empower individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in Northeast Indiana. By providing quick funding to 501(c)(3) organizations, this initiative supports innovative ideas that enhance community inclusion, education, and accessibility. The grant focuses on initiatives such as social enrichment, education, transportation, early diagnosis, and housing, ensuring that these individuals can live independently and thrive within their communities.

The CSA Midwest Region: Otto Thieme Memorial Internship provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in a hands-on curatorial experience with costume collections at Midwestern museums, historical societies, or universities. Awarded a $2000 stipend for an eight-week internship, students will gain valuable mentorship and training in the field of costume. This program honors Otto Charles Thieme, an influential figure in costume scholarship, enhancing students' academic pursuits while fostering appreciation for historic costumes.

The Alternative Education Grant supports innovative programs for public school students in grades 6-12 who struggle in traditional settings. This initiative promotes diverse educational options, including alternative classrooms and community partnerships, aiming to meet individual student needs. Eligible programs must maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio, operate for at least three hours daily, and provide individualized service plans. The grant fosters a supportive environment, helping students achieve academic success while complying with state standards.

The Myron and Patsy Pattison Scholarship supports outstanding college freshmen from Montgomery County, Indiana, aiming to assist their transition into sophomore year. Established by local philanthropists, this scholarship emphasizes academic excellence and leadership. Eligible candidates must have graduated from a public high school in Montgomery County and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00. The award is non-renewable and aims to encourage post-graduate studies.

For this project pathway, grant funding requests must be between $10,000 and $100,000. The only eligible expense in the budget for this project is the special equipment to be purchased. The equipment does not have to be American made and can be a used piece of equipment as long as the equipment is in good, working order. You may not include training for the piece of equipment in the budget. You may include installation of equipment if it is included in the quote and does not require construction of the space the equipment will be placed in. Matching funds are not required for Special Equipment Only projects. 

The River & The Rock Award, offered by the Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation (MDFF), provides up to $2,500 to individuals in Indiana diagnosed with muscular dystrophy or a neuromuscular disease. This award encourages resilience and perseverance, assisting recipients in pursuing their dreams and goals. Eligible applicants must demonstrate courage and complete the enrollment process with MDFF. Since its inception in 1958, MDFF has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those facing neuromuscular challenges.

Rural Transit Programs

Purpose

The Federal Section 5311 Program was created to provide public transportation in non-urbanized areas (population of 50,000 or less). The purpose of the program is to provide transportation to people living in rural areas. The Federal Section 5311 Program supports rural public transportation through operating, capital, and intercity transit funding.

Capital Project Grants

Capital projects generally include expenses for purchasing vehicles, communication equipment, fare boxes, passenger shelters, and construction of and rehabilitation of transit facilities. Section 5311 capital assistance may fund up to 80 percent of the total capital costs.

Rural Transit Programs

Purpose

Operating Project Grants

Operating Grants provide assistance for the operations of the transit service. Section 5311 may fund up to 50 percent of the net operating costs.

INDOT will make Section 5311 funds available for operating expenses, which generally include salaries and wages, fringe benefits, purchase of transit service contracts, fuel, oil, lubricants, replacement parts, tires, vehicle insurance, licenses, and other expenses.
