Eligible candidates must be current SHAPE America members and have 3 to 6 years of experience post-doctorate. This award emphasizes active involvement and scholarship in the field, encouraging innovative research that enhances educational practices for preK-12 students.

Experienced health and physical education professionals in Michigan and nationwide can receive top professional recognition for long-term contributions to school health, physical activity, dance, sport, or community health education. The Luther Halsey Gulick Award from SHAPE America honors one outstanding leader annually for distinguished service and impact on preK–12 student well-being.

Graduate students in psychomotor measurement and evaluation at U.S. colleges or universities can receive support for professional expenses, including those contributing to community health education in Michigan. With a mission to advance health and physical education, SHAPE America provides this award to current members who show strong potential in the field and have at least one year of study remaining.

With a mission to advance health and physical education, Society of Health and Physical Educators provides Michigan community health education professionals with a Measurement and Evaluation Honor Award recognizing outstanding contributions. Eligible nominees must be current SHAPE America and Measurement and Evaluation SIG members who have significantly advanced the SIG’s mission; posthumous nominations are allowed within five years.

Health and physical education professionals advancing measurement and evaluation, including those working in Michigan community health education, may be honored through this lifetime achievement award. With a mission to advance professional practice, Society of Health and Physical Educators recognizes SHAPE America members who demonstrate substantial, long-term scholarly impact in measurement and evaluation in health and physical education.

Current SHAPE America members planning projects that expand opportunities for girls and women in sport can apply for the NAGWS Legacy Award, a US $1,000 grant available nationwide, including Michigan. Eligible proposals include research, professional development, after-school programs, or speakers that advance female participation and leadership in sports and related community health education.

Michigan community health education organizations can access funding through AES Hawaii Foundation for programs in social justice and energy equality, education and workforce development, environmental stewardship, and community health and resilience. Michigan undergraduate students majoring in school-based health education can receive a US $1,000 Bill Kane Undergraduate Scholarship to support their studies and related community health education work. Grants up to Up to US $5,000 may support community events and engagement activities that promote health, elevate community voices, and align with the funder’s mission and values; one sponsorship per organization annually.

Michigan community health organizations, especially 501(c)(3) nonprofits with at least one year of outcomes, can access funding through H Hovnanian Family Foundation for community health education, public health, emergency response, and related initiatives. Grants up to US $10,000 support projects in the U.S., with preference for work conducted in New Jersey and Armenian communities.

The Community Foundation of Monroe County (CFMC) is seeking implementation-focused proposals for projects that directly advance Monroe County’s Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). We are investing in collaborative, community-driven solutions that produce measurable health outcomes for our residents.

CDC Foundation

The CDC Foundation helps the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the public health system save and improve lives by unleashing the power of partnerships to protect the health, safety and security of all communities, everywhere. The CDC Foundation is authorized by Congress to mobilize philanthropic partners, corporations, organizations and individuals to support the critical health protection mission of CDC and the public health system.

The CDC Foundation manages hundreds of programs each year aimed at protecting communities across the country from a variety of health threats—from chronic disease conditions including cardiovascular disease and cancer, to infectious diseases like malaria and HIV to emergency responses, such as Ebola and Zika.

Contractor for Implementation and Evaluation of Healthy Native Babies Project Materials

This RFP request proposals from Tribes, Tribal Serving Organizations (TSOs) and Urban Indian Organizations (UIOs) [T/TSOs/UIOs] to implement and evaluate the updated Healthy Native Babies Project (HNBP) materials within their service areas. This initiative aims to strengthen culturally relevant infant safe sleep education, increase community awareness and support Native families in reducing sleep related infant deaths. Selected T/TSOs/UIOs will adapt, disseminate and assess the use of HNBP materials in ways that reflect the cultural, linguistic and community-specific needs of the Native populations they serve. 

This project is a rapid turnaround project to support T/TSOs/UIOs in:

• Implementing HNBP materials in clinical, community, and family setting
• Training staff and community partners
• Evaluating reach, effectiveness, and community feedback
• Identifying barriers, facilitators, lessons learned, and best practices for future replication
