Search Through Lee County Grants for Nonprofits in Alabama

The Fischer Family Foundation Grants aim to enhance the lives of underprivileged youth aged 8-25 in Southwest Florida through diverse resources, including education, mental health support, and wellness programs. The foundation prioritizes funding for initiatives that address substance abuse, mental health access, and experiential learning opportunities. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $15,000, focusing on organizations with a proven track record and a commitment to quality experiences for those in need.

The CFEA Mini Grants program offers three $500 grants annually to nonprofits operating for 2-5 years in the Lee, Macon, Tallapoosa, Chambers, or Russell counties. These grants provide flexible, unrestricted funding for general operating support, enabling organizations to pursue their missions effectively. Eligible applicants must demonstrate community need and submit a 501(c)(3) tax determination letter, mission statement, and measurable objectives. This initiative strengthens local nonprofits and fosters community development.

Central Alabama Community Foundation

Established in 1987 by community leaders, the Central Alabama Community Foundation serves the River Region counties of Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery. CACF was created to provide a permanent charitable resource dedicated to strengthening nonprofits and meeting local needs in the Montgomery area.

Through a variety of funds, CACF supports projects and programs in education, health, human services, cultural arts, recreation, historic preservation, and other civic concerns.

Every year, CACF awards grants to nonprofit projects and programs providing services in Lee, Macon, and Montgomery counties.

The Hawkins Educational Foundation Scholarship

The Hawkins Educational Foundation Scholarship assists students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Applicants must be a high school senior residing in Baldwin County for at least one (1) year prior to the application deadline date. Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and plan to enroll in full-time study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year. Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, and are based on satisfactory academic performance and fulltime enrollment. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region

The Community Foundation is a devoted advocate for the vitality and well-being of the Rappahannock River Region. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages and distributes charitable giving in the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline, and the City of Fredericksburg.

Scholarships

One of The Community Foundation’s strategies for preserving and growing the quality of life in our region is supporting higher education for area students. Generous individuals and families, companies and organizations establish endowed scholarship funds and the proceeds from these funds benefit deserving students. Donors work with foundation staff to determine appropriate criteria for each fund. The Community Foundation currently administers more than fifty scholarship funds.

The Betty Booker Lontz Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund was established in August 2013 by Betty Lontz, a life-long swimmer and devoted and beloved swim instructor. Growing up in Bon Air, Virginia, Betty’s parents collaborated with four other families to build the Bon Air Pool. By 5 years old, she was swimming with the Midgets – children several years older – rather than the Mites. By age ten, she was swimming on a National championship relay team and, though the expense of the trip prevented it, invited to the 1960 Olympics.

Betty began teaching swimming when she was 14 years old. She trained with the West Hampton College swimmers while in high school and took a job at the pool at The Homestead when she graduated. The late 1960’s found Betty at Fort Lee, Virginia teaching lifeguarding skills to returning Vietnam veterans preparing for the United States Special Services. It was there she met her first husband, Bill Lontz. Having been known to say, “If I can find a guy who can out swim me, I’ll marry him,” she was true to her word and married him after two dates. They were married 39 years until his death in 2007.

The young couple moved to Europe for two years, where Betty started another swimming program. On returning to Virginia and the Fredericksburg area, she was instrumental in establishing the pool at Curtis Park. Her well-known Fredericksburg Swim School business (originally called Country Swim School) began in 1975. Over the years, Betty taught swimming and water safety skills to more than 10,000 children -- including some who became Olympic caliber swimmers.

Betty Lontz passed away on November 5, 2015. She attributed her lifetime of swimming with her resiliency in the face of the genetic condition Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. “Wellness is my story,” said Betty. She believed that, “it’s just smart for people to stay healthy.” In the face of growing social issues that stem from illness, it just makes sense for people to preserve and grow an asset like physical health. On the individual, societal and global levels, the study of wellness is a key to vitality and well-being, including reducing costs to society. “Pathology is important, but promoting good health and preventing illness make so much sense.”

Each year, at least two $500 scholarships will be given to area graduating high school seniors.

The Rapier Education Fund, managed by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports high school seniors and college students pursuing degrees in the USA. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be enrolled full-time. The fund covers tuition, fees, and books, and is renewable for up to three years. Since 1964, the foundation has awarded millions in grants to enhance community living through education and other initiatives, making a lasting impact on the San Antonio area.

Midlands Gives, initiated by the Central Carolina Community Foundation, unites the Midlands community to support local nonprofits across 11 counties. Established in 2014, this campaign not only raises awareness but also amplifies donations through an 18-hour online giving challenge held every May. Since its inception, it has successfully raised over $9.3 million, providing nonprofits with a vital platform for outreach and donor engagement, helping them thrive and enhance community welfare.

The 2499 Line of Duty Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, honors Montgomery Police Officer David Colley. It provides financial assistance to high school seniors from Autauga, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, or Montgomery Counties pursuing higher education. Eligible students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have intentions to serve in the military or as first responders, or be children of service members. This scholarship supports future leaders dedicated to community service.

The Butler County Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, aims to support graduating African American seniors from Georgiana School, Greenville High School, and McKenzie School. Annually, one scholarship is awarded, with the amount determined each year. Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to three additional years, provided they submit a high school transcript and references during the application process. This initiative underscores a commitment to educational advancement in the community.

The Caddell Construction Co. (DE), LLC Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, offers financial assistance to college students pursuing construction-related degrees. This scholarship supports rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and emphasizes the importance of advancing careers in construction. Applicants must submit a college transcript, resume, career plans video, and references to be considered. This initiative underscores the foundation's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities within the community.

The CAEC Lineman Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, provides financial assistance for individuals pursuing training to become electrical line workers. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid Alabama driver's license, and possess a high school diploma or GED. This scholarship aims to support local workforce development in the electrical utility sector, ensuring participants are well-prepared for their future careers.

The Central AlabamaWorks Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, aims to support deserving graduates in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Candidates must reside in one of the 13 counties served, hold a high school diploma or GED, and be accepted into an Alabama community college or vocational training program. This initiative, launched in 1987, reflects the Foundation's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities and addressing community needs in the River Region.

The Dean B. Albritton Memorial Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation, honors the legacy of Dean B. Albritton, emphasizing education as a path to empowerment. This scholarship supports graduating seniors from Autauga, Elmore, or Montgomery County, with a focus on minority students associated with New Walk of Life Church in Montgomery. Since its inception in 1987, the scholarship aims to uplift individuals and foster community development through educational opportunities.

The Jay Murphy Scholarship, established by the East Alabama Community Foundation, supports aspiring teachers who connect well with youth. Open to college entrants, current educators seeking skill upgrades, or professionals returning to teaching, applicants must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. This renewable scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities in Chambers, Lee, Russell, and Tallapoosa counties, fostering a new generation of educators committed to making a positive impact in their communities.

The Jerry L. Bartley Memorial Scholarship, established in 2020 by the family and friends of Jerry "JB" Bartley, supports high school graduates who demonstrate a passion for basketball. Eligible applicants must be active AAU players residing in Alabama and meet NCAA Division I academic eligibility standards. This scholarship reflects a commitment to fostering young talent in the sport, while honoring Jerry Bartley's legacy and dedication to basketball, promoting not only athletic excellence but also academic achievement.

Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarship

This renewable scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in Montgomery County who are planning to attend an accredited college or university. Although there is no minimum ACT or SAT score, students must indicate by their academic performance the ability or motivation to graduate from college. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need. Consideration is also given to students’ leadership, character, ability and participation in extracurricular activities. Scholarships will be awarded annually and are renewable for up to three years depending upon the student’s academic performance.

Established in memory of Kyle Leonard, the fund will award a $1,500 scholarship to one graduate of any high school located within Houston County. The award will be based on academic achievement, as a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required, as well as school and community involvement.

The Paul Easterling Dixie Youth Scholarship, established by the Central Alabama Community Foundation in 1987, supports graduating seniors from any Autauga County school who have participated in Dixie Youth Baseball. This scholarship honors Paul Easterling's legacy by recognizing students exemplifying sportsmanship both on and off the field. The Central Alabama Community Foundation, dedicated to enhancing local nonprofit efforts, awards annual grants for various community needs, making a positive impact in the region.

Established in 2005 to honor Ronnie Mendheim’s legacy of helping youth, this scholarship benefits graduating seniors of any high school located in Dothan, Alabama. Selection criteria include academic achievement and school/community activities that demonstrate leadership abilities. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and minimum ACT score of 21.

The Learning Tree Scholarship, established by The Learning Tree, Inc. through the Central Alabama Community Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors from select counties with a minimum ACT score of 20. This renewable scholarship offers up to $2,000 annually for students pursuing degrees in education, healthcare, and related fields. The foundation, active since 1987, aims to enhance local nonprofit initiatives and educational opportunities in the River Region, serving counties including Lowndes, Macon, and Montgomery.

Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, while political campaigns and organizations with high budgets or overheads are ineligible. This grant fosters impactful contributions to society.
