Farley Moody Galbraith Fund

The Farley Moody Galbraith Fund was established by The Farley Moody Galbraith Foundation. Known as a philanthropic leader with a heart for her community, Mrs. Galbraith was an Anniston resident who served on numerous not-for-profit boards. Beyond her service to these organizations she provided generous financial support to not-for-profit organizations that served needy children, disadvantaged youth, and the arts.

Grant Purpose

The purpose of the FMGF is to provide charitable support to a wide variety of charitable needs. Consideration shall be given to Mrs. Galbraith’s historical charitable giving that supported needy children, disadvantaged youth, and the arts.

The Harland Jones Charitable Fund aims to support educational and developmental initiatives for youth aged 19 and younger in Northeast Alabama. Established by Mr. Jones, this fund promotes literacy, education, and safety, ensuring that children have the resources to thrive. Organizations eligible for grants must be 501(c)(3) certified and operate in specific counties, committing to positive change through collaborative partnerships and strategic planning.

The Longleaf Fund, established by the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama, aims to foster positive community change through donor generosity. It supports 501(c)(3) public charities within a nine-county region, providing essential funding for diverse charitable initiatives. The Stringfellow Health Fund Grant provides essential healthcare funding to 501(c)(3) public charities in nine Alabama counties. Applicants for this scholarship must be a female senior who is graduating from a New Jersey high school and a resident of Bergen or Hudson counties. The student must demonstrate outstanding personal character and leadership qualities and have been accepted to an accredited four-year college or university within the United States. Applicants are not necessarily required to be the top in the class, but must show outstanding potential, merit, and/or improvement. Scholarships are based on merit and unmet financial need.

David H. Roe Scholarship

This scholarship assists graduating high school seniors from the Greater Newark area who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in mathematics, physics, biology, botany, or chemistry. Applicants must have been accepted to a four-year accredited college/university within the United States and must be entering their freshman year in the fall. If you have not yet been accepted to a college or university, please do not apply at this time. Scholarships are based on merit and unmet financial need.

This scholarship is awarded to a college-bound, Black/African-American graduating high school senior from the greater Newark area or Paterson who has pursued a rigorous course of study (with particular emphasis on math and science courses). Applicants will show evidence of readiness for and a commitment to pursue a STEM major. Students will be evaluated on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service, work (paid or unpaid), and unmet financial need.

The National Institute on Aging (NIA) is set to release a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aiming to stimulate research on Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADRD). This initiative focuses on validating novel drug targets and supports early-stage drug discovery efforts. The U01 activity code will be utilized, and while applications are not currently solicited, this notice allows potential applicants ample time to form collaborations and develop impactful projects in the field of AD/ADRD research.

Bego Scholarship

Preference for this scholarship will be given to students who are from recently immigrated families and are U.S. residents, naturalized citizens, or first-generation U.S. citizens. The candidate must be a resident from New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania. They also must have been accepted to, have applied for, or plan to attend an accredited four-year college. Applicants will be evaluated based on academic performance, extracurricular activities, community service, work (paid or unpaid), and unmet financial need.
