The DAR Historic Preservation Grants, offered by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, provide $250,000 annually to support projects that preserve historic resources and sites. Seacoast Womens Giving Circle

We are 200 members strong and are committed to preserving the quality of life on the Seacoast. Members hail from around the world but most call the Seacoast area "home". 

What We Do

Members contribute to an annual collective gift and participate in volunteer service projects in the community. Over the course of the year, members educate themselves about community issues, identify a specific topic on which to focus, and select nonprofit organization(s) to receive the Giving Circle's annual gift.

Where We Serve

The immediate scope of our giving and volunteering includes the following towns: Seabrook, Hampton, Hampton Falls, North Hampton, Rye, Portsmouth, New Castle, Greenland, Newington and Kittery.

Topic: Protecting Marginalized and At Risk Children & Adolescents

When children and adolescents face mistreatment or discrimination, are stigmatized, and/or cannot access vital health and educational services, they cannot thrive.

The Seacoast Women's Giving Circle will be accepting applications from organizations that support marginalized and at-risk children and adolescents.

Priority will be given to organizations that address one or more of the following:

• ​Direct services
• Advocacy
• Social change initiatives

Seacoast Women’s Giving Circle Priorities:

• Improving quality of life on the Seacoast
• Serving the socio-economically underprivileged
• Fostering independence and self-reliance
• Addressing emerging needs and issues
• Providing long-term solutions
• Investing in the expansion of existing organizations rather than the creation of new ones

We are accepting applications for unrestricted funding grants of $25,000.

The Annual Grant supports organizations enhancing the Peaks Island community by reducing economic barriers, improving medical and social services, and providing educational access. Eligible projects include capacity-building, general support, and specific project grants. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 pm on March 1st, or the next business day if that date falls on a weekend or holiday. Clear financial documentation is required to ensure transparency and accountability in funding.

The Citizens' Institute on Rural Design (CIRD), a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and the Housing Assistance Council, invites rural communities to apply for design support. CIRD aims to enhance rural life and economic viability through planning and creative placemaking, empowering local citizens to address unique community challenges. Opportunities include Local Design Workshops and a Design Learning Cohort, providing resources, training, and support to foster community-driven solutions.

The Language Legacies Grants, offered by the Endangered Language Fund, aim to support endangered language documentation and revitalization efforts. Projects that benefit both the native community and the field of linguistics are prioritized. Eligible applicants include language activists and researchers, with a focus on languages at risk of disappearing. Grants typically range around $2,000, and proposals can be submitted in English or Spanish, fostering a broad spectrum of linguistic preservation initiatives.

The John Sage Foundation supports projects that enhance the relationship between people and the natural environment, primarily in Maine. Since its inception in 1992, it has funded various initiatives, including land acquisition, water testing, and environmental education. The foundation is open to funding a range of projects but may concentrate its resources on a single entity in a grant cycle. Notably, it does not support political advocacy efforts.

The Elsie & William Viles Foundation, established in 1990, continues the philanthropic legacy of William and Elsie Viles in Augusta, Maine. It supports charitable organizations, primarily in the Capital Region, focusing on preserving open spaces, caring for animals, supporting education, and promoting Maine's history and culture. Organizations seeking funding must be tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) and based in Maine, with donations capped at $5,000 to ensure broad community support.

The Elsie & William Viles Foundation Grant supports charitable organizations, prioritizing those in Maine's Capital Region. Established in 1990, the foundation continues the philanthropic legacy of William and Elsie Viles. Grants range from $5,000 to $25,000 and focus on preserving open spaces, protecting animals, supporting children's education, and promoting Maine's history and culture. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.

The Wright-Ingraham Institute offers Sustaining Grants to support non-profit organizations addressing environmental and social challenges. These grants emphasize climate change, land issues, and wildlife conservation, with a special focus on Colorado-based institutions. Since 2012, the Institute has awarded over $400,000 to more than 65 organizations. The grants are awarded biennially, with the next cycle commencing in August 2025, providing up to $5,000 to eligible 501c(3) organizations.
