The Youth Climate Justice Fund aims to support climate justice young leaders with trust-based funding, resources, and capacity strengthening, enabling them to amplify their voices and to keep their vision and influence alive.

Collectively, we have the power to ignite meaningful change and build equitable and sustainable futures. Despite the challenges posed by the current crisis, youth climate justice organizers remain determined to address current issues and explore new approaches.

Mission & Purpose

We work to strengthen existing organizing efforts and support emerging youth-led initiatives with a focus on bridging funders and organizers to enable flexible and impactful support. Through capacity strengthening and resource sharing, we empower and support young people to drive change and build a just and sustainable future.

How To Apply

The Youth Climate Justice Fund provides funding to emerging youth-led climate justice and socio-environmental groups through a participatory decision-making process.

Kiwanis Club of Marietta members participate in service projects, hold fundraisers, and change children’s lives in our community. In addition, club members contribute to Kiwanis International initiatives helping clubs around the world assist children with education, basic needs, and medical care.

The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.

Scott Chadwick Scholarship for Emerging Leaders

This memorial scholarship was established in 2020 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation in honor of former Club President and outstanding community servant leader, Scott Chadwick.

Maury and Betty Hull Endowed Scholarship

The Maury and Betty Hull Scholarship was created to honor their lives and appreciation for their hometown, Forks, WA. The scholarship was established to help community students pursue their higher education dreams.

Award Information

Awards begin at $2,000 and are at the discretion of the committee.

With over 700 funds, each with a unique purpose, the Midland Area Community Foundation has been the organization in Midland, Michigan, building permanent community capital since 1973.

Youth Action Council Mini-Grants

Midland Area Youth Action Council Mini-Grants give us the opportunity to invest in youth philanthropists (young people who are already working to make the world a better place!) and community adults who invest their time and energy into improving the lives of our area’s young people.

Midland Area Youth Action Council Youth Philanthropist Mini-Grant

The Midland Area Youth Action Council offers mini-grants of up to $500 to young people who want to make real change in their communities.

The Midland Area Youth Action Council recognizes that youth learn philanthropy by being philanthropists and we want to support Midland County youth in learning how to be generous, to practice good stewardship, and to serve their communities. We would like to provide youth with opportunities to make real change in the Midland area and to enable youth who might not otherwise be able to follow through on their passion in making a difference in the places they live. Proposals should be unique projects designed to benefit citizens of a specific governmental or educational entity or charitable organization (possessing 501(c)3 status). 

The Big Bald Dave Adventure Scholarship, provided by the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation, honors Dave Mueller's passion for outdoor adventure. It offers a unique summer trip for Big Sky students in grades 9-11 who demonstrate leadership and a love for the outdoors. Supported by Adventures Cross Country, this scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in enriching experiences while giving back to the community. Notably, it is not based on financial need.

The NBA Foundation Grants aim to empower Black youth by providing economic opportunities through skills training, mentorship, and career advancement programs. Established by all 30 NBA teams, the foundation focuses on organizations aligned with its mission, specifically those serving Black youth in NBA markets. Applications for 2024 grants are now open, with a review process taking 12-14 weeks. This initiative is crucial for promoting sustainable economic and racial justice in communities.

The Charles and Joan Hermanowski Family Foundation aims to enhance the lives of children and young adults in the U.S. by providing financial support to 501(c)(3) organizations focused on arts, education, health, and welfare. Grants, capped at $10,000, must be utilized within one year and are not automatically renewable. The foundation seeks to support smaller charities that may not receive broad public backing, thus creating a more significant impact on individual communities.

The Youth Mini-Grant program, managed by the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, invites applications aimed at addressing the needs of youth in Isabella County. Funded by diverse endowments, the program supports personal development, job opportunities, and leadership activities. Since 1993, the Youth Advisory Committee has focused on critical issues such as bullying, stress, and family challenges. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and schools, fostering community-driven initiatives that promote youth welfare.

The Dale Jr. Foundation, founded by NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr., has raised over $8 million since 2007 to support various charities focusing on youth and underprivileged communities. The foundation emphasizes empowerment, education, wellness, hunger relief, and hope, aiming to provide resources that enhance confidence and opportunities for children facing hardships. Through fundraising efforts and partnerships with organizations like Make-A-Wish, the foundation strives to positively impact lives and foster a sense of normalcy among children in need.

The Lenawee Community Foundation offers Youth Grants for local projects in Lenawee County, providing up to $2,000 to nonprofit organizations. These grants aim to build youth assets and enhance community engagement. The foundation prioritizes proposals that demonstrate active youth participation and address significant community needs, ensuring that projects align with the foundation's mission of fostering health, hope, and happiness within the community.

The True Inspiration Awards, established by Chick-fil-A in 2015, recognizes nonprofit organizations that significantly impact their communities. In 2025, the program will distribute $6 million in grants, ranging from $30,000 to $350,000, to sixteen selected organizations. Categories include Caring for People, Caring through Food, Community, and Caring for our Planet, with a focus on educational initiatives, food security, housing services, and environmental stewardship, honoring the legacy of founder S. Truett Cathy.

The Willis C. Helm Charitable Trust, established in 1954, focuses on supporting organizations that work on juvenile delinquency and the development of boys from broken homes. It provides annual grants averaging between $5,000 and $15,000, with a total giving of around $60,000 for five grants each year. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt and preferably located in Minnesota. Applications are accepted year-round, with a deadline of March 31 for annual review.

The George Family Foundation's Youth Development Grant aims to empower youth from under-resourced communities by supporting initiatives that foster personal growth, educational enrichment, and workplace learning. By encouraging diverse interactions and community service, the foundation seeks to provide young people with the tools to thrive and positively impact their communities. Although unsolicited proposals are not accepted, Letters of Inquiry are welcomed during specific review periods.

The Kars4Kids Small Grant Program aims to support educational initiatives globally, impacting the lives of children. This program welcomes applications from IRS-recognized nonprofit organizations focused on youth development, mentorship, and education. Grants typically range from $500 to $2,000, depending on mission alignment and available funds. Kars4Kids, a national Jewish nonprofit, is dedicated to nurturing productive community members through educational and mentoring opportunities.

The Boys and Girls Club of Grand Traverse Endowment offers vital support for youth programs in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, and Leelanau counties. This endowment empowers local organizations to provide safe learning environments, foster caring relationships, and promote character development for young people, particularly those in need. By facilitating access to enriching activities and mentorship, the endowment helps children reach their full potential as responsible citizens.

The CFSM Youth Leadership Grants support youth-led programs that empower young people to take leadership roles within their communities in southeast Michigan. Established in 1991, this initiative encourages youth participation in grant proposal reviews and has funded over $1.8 million in youth-serving grants. Grants typically range from $2,500 to $20,000, fostering partnerships and enhancing young people's awareness of critical local issues. Applications are reviewed by the Youth Advisory Committee, ensuring youth voices are central to the decision-making process.

The Holthouse Foundation for Kids supports organizations that empower at-risk youth through character education, life skills, and entrepreneurship. They provide grants to non-profit entities recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, focusing on community enrichment in Houston and beyond. While inquiry letters are accepted year-round, they do not guarantee funding, and applicants must understand that proposals are not a promise of financial support.

The Detroit Industrial School Grant provides vital funding for projects benefiting children in the Tri-County area. With grants up to $5,000, the foundation prioritizes support for non-profit agencies addressing basic needs, educational programs, and resources for disabled children. The grant aims to help those in greatest need, ensuring no racial or religious discrimination in service. Eligible projects include tutoring, field trips, and skill training, fostering a brighter future for local youth.

The Skillman Foundation Grant Partners program aims to empower Detroit youth through strategic partnerships that transform education systems. While they typically invite applications proactively, they remain open to connecting with organizations that support young people in Detroit. Eligible partners include nonprofit organizations and public agencies, with a focus on those offering inclusive opportunities for all youth. The foundation emphasizes advocacy for policy changes that benefit children in the community.

The Perrigo Foundation is committed to empowering individuals and global communities by supporting programs and organizations that promote health, well-being, and education. We aim to prepare students and young adults for the workforce, providing accessible career pathways that inspire and empower individuals to reach their full potential. The Foundation is proudly funded by Perrigo Company plc.

Giving Back to Our Communities

Healthcare

We are providing program stability and capacity building for key community agencies, supporting local nonprofits to improve the quality and accessibility of services, and increasing the quality of mental health services, especially for children and families. 

Education

 Education, post-secondary scholarships, and support for first-generation and low-income students primarily focused on a STEM career, advancement for STEM curriculum, and resources in the K-12 classrooms. 

Supporting the Underserved

Community engagement and well-being, ensuring access to basic human necessities such as food, housing, end-of-life support, and necessary social services.

The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation offers grants to enhance the cultural, social, and economic life of Greater Kalamazoo. With a focus on arts, education, community development, and health, the foundation supports nonprofit organizations benefiting local residents. First-time applicants must consult with the Program Officer prior to submission. Grants of $10,000 or less can be submitted anytime, but the foundation does not fund individuals or academic research.

The Y.O.U.T.H. Mini Grant Program empowers Hillsdale County youth to create impactful projects that address community needs. Funded by the Hillsdale County Community Foundation, grants up to $500 support initiatives developed by youth aged 5-19. This program fosters leadership, creativity, and community service, allowing young leaders to shape their future while enhancing awareness of available opportunities. Through thoughtful grant-making, the foundation ensures that youth-led projects contribute positively to the community.

The Dow communityGives Grant encourages volunteerism among K-12 youth in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Teams can earn a $1,000 grant for expenses like uniforms, travel, or classroom needs, or donate it to a nonprofit. This initiative, supported by the Dow Chemical Company and local community foundations, emphasizes community engagement and the importance of giving back, while providing youth with hands-on volunteering experiences.

The Nexteer Steering the Future Fund, managed by the Saginaw Community Foundation, supports 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. With grants up to $2,500, it aims to enhance community well-being through initiatives that foster diversity, innovation, and education. Applicants must have a Nexteer Project Sponsor and demonstrate community involvement, workforce development, and sustainability efforts. This fund exemplifies Nexteer's commitment to strengthening the communities where they operate and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The Berrien Community Foundation's "For Good" Grants support community projects in Berrien County, Michigan. These grants are available in two sizes: Major grants ($1,501-$15,000) and Minor grants (up to $1,500). Eligible organizations include 501(c)(3) entities, schools, and government or religious organizations. The foundation prioritizes programs that are innovative, sustainable, and address critical local needs while fostering collaboration among community groups.

The Keller Foundation Grant, established in 1980, aims to support innovative programs for children and families, particularly in the Grand Rapids area. With nearly $7 million awarded to over 150 nonprofits, the foundation focuses on five key areas: Cultural, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services. Grants, ranging from $2,500 to $50,000, prioritize long-term impact and community involvement, fostering educational and cultural opportunities for underserved youth.

The Kroger Foundation is dedicated to uplifting communities through significant charitable contributions, having donated over $1.9 billion in the past six years. Their focus on combating hunger through the Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative exemplifies their commitment to social impact. Annually, they provide over $300 million to nonprofit organizations aligned with their mission, promoting health, education, and disaster relief while fostering diversity and inclusion. This initiative reflects Kroger's belief that strong communities are a shared responsibility.
