Cops in Shops Summer Shore Initiative

PurposeFounded in 1991, and originally known as The Century Council, the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org), is a national non-profit organization dedicated to combating underage drinking, the Cops in Shops program offers a unique approach to preventing the illegal purchase of alcohol by underage persons through a "partnership" of retail licensed establishments and the law enforcement community. The program also targets adults who purchase alcoholic beverages for underage individuals.

Specifically, undercover police officers work cooperatively with retail licensed establishments by posing as employees or patrons in the licensed premises to stop anyone under the age of 21 who attempts to purchase alcohol or use fictitious identification. The Cops in Shops program advertises and educates youth, adults and parents about the legal repercussions of underage drinking through the use of posters (advertised at point of sale).

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)

Child care can take up a big part of a family’s monthly budget. Income-eligible families who are working, going to school or in job training may be able to get help through the New Jersey Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), which is run by the New Jersey Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family Development (DFD).

Assistance for Homeless Families

Experiencing homelessness and needing child care services is a challenge. We make it easier for you to receive help paying for child care even if you don’t have all of the required documents. If you lack a fixed and adequate nighttime residence, you would meet the definition of homeless.

Specifically that means living in:

• Shared housing due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason;
• Motels, hotels, or campgrounds because you don’t have alternative accommodations;
• Emergency or transitional shelters;
• Locations not designed or intended for human sleeping, such as park benches; or
• Cars, parks, public spaces, bus or train stations, or abandoned buildings.

Eligible applicants include registered non-profit food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in 13 U.S. states. The NJ Forest Service Urban & Community Forestry Program (NJUCF) Green Communities aims to support local governments in creating a Community Forestry Management Plan (CFMP) and conducting necessary inventories. The program prioritizes projects demonstrating measurable community impact, fostering a collaborative relationship between TC Energy and local stakeholders.

The Green Acres Nonprofit Grant in New Jersey supports tax-exempt organizations aiming to enhance public access to open space for recreation and conservation.
