Wells Fargo Community Giving supports nonprofit organizations focusing on financial health, housing affordability, small business growth, and sustainability. The grant cycle runs from February to October, inviting organizations with 501(c)(3) status or equivalent to apply. The True Inspiration Awards, established by Chick-fil-A in 2015, recognizes nonprofit organizations that significantly impact their communities. In 2025, the program will distribute $6 million in grants, ranging from $30,000 to $350,000, to sixteen selected organizations. Categories include Caring for People, Caring through Food, Community, and Caring for our Planet, with a focus on educational initiatives, food security, housing services, and environmental stewardship, honoring the legacy of founder S. Truett Cathy.

The Trust encourages applications for general operating support and seeks partnerships rather than being the sole funder. The Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Award honors exemplary nonprofit organizations in the U.S. that foster collaborative partnerships across sectors. Annually, a national competition showcases numerous organizations demonstrating impactful community partnerships. Six organizations receive recognition, including the Thomas J. Moran Award, which offers $100,000, and the Frances R. Hesselbein Award, granting $75,000. Since 1996, the award has acknowledged 262 partnerships, emphasizing Mutual of America's commitment to societal improvement through collaboration.

The Gupta Family Foundation Grant aims to empower disadvantaged individuals by providing financial support to organizations that foster self-reliance. Headquartered in Herndon, Virginia, the foundation offers grants ranging from $5,000 to over $250,000, prioritizing smaller organizations with a strong commitment to their missions. Eligibility typically includes US-based IRS 501(c)(3) entities, with operations extending to countries like India and Kenya. The foundation emphasizes mission alignment and effective resource allocation to ensure maximum impact.

The Nordstrom Community Grant focuses on supporting youth and families by providing over $1 million in grants annually. Starting in the 2026-2027 academic year, eligible schools can apply for grants to introduce and expand PLTW programs, fostering real-world skills through applied learning. This initiative targets schools with significant free and reduced-price lunch populations, promoting equity in education across various U.S. counties.

We are proud to be of service to 42 communities in New London, Windham and Tolland Counties, with a combined population of approximately 450,000 residents and encompassing 1,402 square miles. We are the largest community foundation in the state – by geographic area served – covering nearly one-third of Connecticut.

250th Anniversary of the United States of America Grant

The Community Foundation announces an expansion of its civic engagement grants program to include a grants initiative focused on building democracy as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

What will be funded: Projects for local school-aged youth to increase their understanding of democracy.

Examples of potential grants

• Projects that highlight untold stories of marginalized people from the past or present such as women, indigenous people, people of color, or young people who have played a role in building, protecting or strengthening democracy.
• Using the arts, theater, music and dance, to connect past (including pre-revolution), present and future to make connections to building a strong civic society.

The Eric Evans Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, supports residents of New London County planning to attend Syracuse University, with a preference for graduates of Saint Bernard High School. Established to promote educational pursuits, this scholarship contributes significantly to local students' academic journeys, fostering a brighter future in the region. Since 1983, the foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships, demonstrating its commitment to educational excellence and community development.

The Latin Network for the Visual Arts Scholarship, established by Mimi and Gaston Daumy, supports New London County students pursuing degrees in fine arts. With an award amount of approximately $1,600, scholarships are paid directly to colleges by August 1. Preference is given to students with ancestral ties to Romance language countries, including French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish. This initiative has been part of the Community Foundation's commitment to educational support since 1983.

The Laura B. Seder Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, provides financial assistance to students from Norwich attending accredited colleges or universities. Established in memory of Laura B. Seder, a dedicated lawyer and community member, this scholarship emphasizes the importance of legal studies. Since 1983, the foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships to support local students in achieving their educational and career goals.

The Pfizer Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, provides $1,000 awards to graduating seniors from select high schools in New London County, CT, and Westerly High School, RI, pursuing STEM studies at accredited colleges. Since 1983, the foundation has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships, supporting students in achieving their educational and career goals. Notably, children of Pfizer employees are ineligible for this scholarship.

The Ruben Elijah Reiser Johnson Scholarship honors a talented young artist who passed away at 16. Established by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, it supports graduating high school seniors and current college students from New London County pursuing visual arts. Since 1983, the foundation has awarded millions in scholarships, fostering education and careers in the arts. This scholarship aims to empower future artists to achieve their dreams, ensuring Ruben's legacy continues to inspire.

The Sharon E. Burrows Scholarship, established in memory of Sharon Burrows, supports graduating high school seniors from New London County. Eligible students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate financial need, and pursue post-secondary studies in visual and applied arts or culinary arts. Since 1983, the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut has awarded over $11.9 million in scholarships, helping students achieve their educational and career goals.

The Thomas P. Quinn Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut, supports New London County students seeking to pursue higher education at four-year colleges or universities. With a total award of $4,000 distributed over four years, this scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to deserving students, helping them achieve their academic and career goals. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded significant funds to empower local youth.
