Scholarship Program

Thanks to our generous partners, there are thirty $10,000 merit-based scholarships currently available. All scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, community service, and leadership. The finalists are announced every spring. They then attend our national convention in July when the winners of each individual scholarship are selected.

Up to two students receiving these scholarships hail from or will be attending college in Washington, Idaho, or Oregon.

The RMEF Grant Program lies at the core of advancing our mission.

RMEF established the program in 1986 to provide financial and logistical support to projects that align with our priorities and goals. Grant funds raised by RMEF members, volunteers and generous donors from across the country translate into significantly more conservation accomplishment when matched with partner funds. The RMEF Grant Program also aims to build recognition for RMEF’s work, grow engagement, and boost local fundraising efforts.

Governed by clear guidelines and criteria, the RMEF Grant Program seeks to foster meaningful collaborations and long-term impacts in the conservation of natural resources and outdoor traditions. Grant project partners include federal, state, local, and tribal wildlife and land management agencies, private landowners and local stakeholders, sportsmen and women, and conservation organizations, universities, foundations and the outdoor industry. Eligible projects primarily focus on habitat stewardship, land conservation and access, wildlife management, and hunting heritage.

We support organizations recognized by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a 501(c)3 entity, federal, state, local, or tribal government entities, sportsmen’s organizations, or educational institutions. All applicants must have a Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued by the IRS. RMEF does not offer grants to individuals.

Land Conservation and Access

RMEF conserves critical big game habitat and migration corridors, while expanding and improving public access, including through land acquisitions and voluntary conservation agreements. RMEF's

2026 priorities include:

• Conserving migratory corridors and connecting landscapes through land conservation efforts
• Creating new or improved public access through access easements and agreements and state-run access programs

The Idaho Nonpoint Source Management §319 Subgrants program provides financial assistance to states, territories, and tribes for activities aimed at reducing nonpoint source pollution. Administered by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, these grants support projects targeting water quality improvement in lakes and rivers. Eligible initiatives include agricultural practices, urban stormwater management, and groundwater protection efforts. Through cost-sharing agreements, landowners can receive up to 75% reimbursement for qualifying projects, with a cap of $10,000. The program emphasizes sustainable practices and partnerships with non-profits and federal agencies to foster habitat improvement, ensuring a supportive environment for wildlife while adhering to specific eligibility criteria.

The Hazard Fuels Reduction Grants, funded by the USDA Forest Service, aim to mitigate fire risks on non-federal, non-industrial forest lands. Projects must focus on reducing hazard fuels within 1.5 miles of federal fire mitigation efforts. Key aspects include a federal adjacency requirement, targeted educational initiatives, and no match funding requirements, although leveraging funding is encouraged. This program is designed to complement existing fire management strategies.

The Idaho Fish & Wildlife Foundation (IFWF) Grant Program aims to support projects that enhance the state’s rich biodiversity. By focusing on habitat conservation, fish and wildlife management, and conservation education, the program provides competitive funding to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and other tax-exempt organizations. Eligible applicants must address specific priorities, ensuring the preservation of Idaho's unique ecosystems and wildlife heritage.

The Idaho Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, administered by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, aims to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. specialty crops through competitive grants. Grants can reach up to $50,000 and are geared towards organizations that positively impact their communities. However, the foundation does not fund discriminatory practices, political efforts, or religiously affiliated projects, ensuring that support is directed towards inclusive and impactful community services.

BECU Foundation invites year-round sponsorship requests from organizations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and South Carolina. There are no limits on the funding amount, and larger requests may require additional information. The foundation supports community-focused events, including festivals and parades, aligning with its core values. Please note that requests related to fundraising events, schools, or any form of religious or political activity are ineligible for funding.

RBC Foundation – USA aims to enhance community quality of life by supporting non-profit organizations that promote diversity and positive change. In 2023, it awarded over $2.8 million in grants, prioritizing youth programs for ages 15-29, arts access for diverse populations, and mental well-being initiatives. The foundation encourages sustainable projects that foster economic independence, providing critical support for education, mental health, and cultural enrichment, thereby making a significant impact across various communities.

The Franz Bakery Foundation Grant supports local charitable organizations focused on family support, youth development, and hunger reduction in areas served by Franz Bakery. With an average grant amount of $3,000, the Foundation aims to foster respect, equity, and inclusion within communities. Eligible applicants must be 501c3 tax-exempt nonprofits located in specific states and align with the Foundation's mission. Organizations can reapply annually, although applications do not roll over to the next year.

The Intermountain Community Care Foundation aims to enhance healthcare access and promote healthy behaviors among low-income and underrepresented populations in Utah and Southeast Idaho. It funds innovative projects that yield measurable results, focusing on significant and lasting changes in community health. Successful applicants must demonstrate a clear need, include a financial audit, and adhere to specific eligibility criteria. The foundation specifically excludes funding for political campaigns, operational deficits, and large equipment purchases.

Cambia Health Foundation is dedicated to enhancing healthcare experiences through its RFP, which aims to support older adult kinship and grand-family caregivers. By promoting strategies that strengthen social connections and improve access to mental health services, the foundation seeks to address the unique challenges faced by these caregivers. The ON Semiconductor Foundation, an onsemi Giving Now program, has named PLTW a strategic partner and made an additional investment to support grants for schools in onsemi communities to implement or expand the PLTW Biomedical Science program for the 2026-2027 school year.

PLTW Biomedical Science - New Program

Program Requirements

Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Biomedical Science course in the 2026-2027 academic year. Schools may implement any PLTW Biomedical Science courses of their choosing.

The Idaho Workforce Development Council's Outreach Project Grant provides funding for initiatives that enhance public information and outreach regarding career education and workforce training opportunities. The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation offers General Operating Grants aimed at 501(c)(3) nonprofits that serve the west side of Salt Lake City. Grants of up to $10,000, with an average of $5,000, support initiatives in health, shelter, education, economic self-reliance, and cultural enrichment. Applications are reviewed monthly. Organizations must be registered as nonprofits and align with the Foundation's focus areas to be eligible for funding.

The Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund (TSAF) empowers tribal communities across the U.S. by promoting renewable energy projects and workforce development. Launched by GRID Alternatives, TSAF provides critical funding for solar initiatives, enhancing energy sovereignty and resilience. Since its inception, TSAF has integrated community participation into its projects, ensuring that tribes can access sustainable energy solutions.
