Who We Are

Broad Street Children's Foundation is committed to providing financial support to privately funded children's homes caring for the orphaned, abandoned and broken children right here in the United States.

Grant Seekers

Broad Street Children's Foundation supports self-sustaining children's homes across the United States that actively foster the development of strong, well-rounded children in their care.

Since the start of the Foundation, over $1,000,000.00 in grants have been donated to children's homes across the country. Additionally, through the Bill and Jackie Hazelgrove Scholarship Program, we have been able to assist a number of young people to continue their education and work towards a college or vocational degree.

Today, the Broad Street Children's Foundation is continuing the dream of it's original founders through the second generation. Equally as dedicated to changing the lives of children in need across America and striving to break the cycle of abuse and neglect for other children and their families.

Grants from Joyful Heart Foundation help California nonprofits, Tribal entities, and government agencies supporting survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault fund staff wellness and secondary trauma mitigation. Eligible organizations can receive up to US $5,000 for self-care training, small capital items, and staff connection activities, plus access to virtual peer learning cohorts.

California 501(c)(3) nonprofits, schools, and public entities addressing child abuse, neglect, and related human needs can seek Wish Book Grant support for existing or new programs, operations, or time-limited projects. Grants from San Jose Mercury News Wish Book Fund highlight compelling stories in San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco counties during its annual holiday fundraising campaign.

Nonprofit and public organizations addressing child abuse and neglect and other health needs in California’s Greater Tri-State region may be eligible for funding to improve health and quality of life. BHHS Legacy Foundation supports programs that increase access to healthcare, improve community health, expand Arizona’s healthcare workforce, and strengthen communities, including efforts that protect children and families.

Charitable and educational organizations in California working on child abuse and neglect, child welfare, and related children’s services may be eligible for this funding, particularly in Los Angeles and Kern counties. Grants from Employees Community Fund of The Boeing Company support local nonprofits focused on children’s safety and well-being, including early childhood development and child protection services.

Nonprofit organizations supporting children’s safety, wellness, education, and basic needs in California can apply for funding from the Dale Jr Foundation. Grants back programs for child abuse and neglect, hunger, health, literacy, and youth development. Eligible 501(c)(3)s working to protect and empower underprivileged youth nationwide may benefit.

Federally recognized tribal governments, tribal organizations, and consortia administering Tribal TANF programs can seek funding to coordinate TANF and child welfare services for tribal families at risk of child abuse and neglect in California and nationwide. US Dept. of Health & Human Services: Administration for Children & Families offers about US $225,000 for demonstration projects improving case management, supportive services, and prevention efforts.

501(c)(3) nonprofits in California serving children and youth affected by abuse or neglect can apply for In-N-Out Burgers Foundation grants of US $10,000 - US $50,000 to support mission-aligned programs or general operations. Organizations providing foster care, prevention, court advocacy, homelessness, domestic violence, or therapeutic services in eligible counties may be invited.

Nonprofit organizations working on child abuse prevention, child welfare, or early childhood development in California may be eligible for the Doris Duke Foundation’s Child Well-Being National Program. The program supports community-led, prevention-oriented projects that help families meet children’s needs before maltreatment occurs and test alternatives to traditional child welfare systems.

Nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and tribal nations serving rural children can access technical assistance funding for capacity-building work through the Ford Family Foundation, primarily in Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. Focused on child abuse and neglect prevention and related family services, these grants offer up to US $5,000 for consultants or staff training that strengthen internal systems.

California 501(c)(3) organizations offering youth education, development, or child abuse and neglect services can access funding through grants from Seneca Foods Foundation. Grants prioritize North Santa Barbara County and Kern County, including services for abused women and children, violence prevention, and related critical needs.

Nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and tribal nations working on child abuse prevention and child welfare services in rural California communities can apply for larger grants from the Ford Family Foundation. Funding over $20,000 supports programs, operations, and capital projects that benefit rural Oregon and Siskiyou County, California, including parenting support, child abuse prevention, and related family services.

California nonprofits serving children, youth, and families through child abuse and domestic violence prevention and treatment programs may be eligible for this funding. Los Angeles County organizations, especially in San Pedro, Wilmington, Compton, Watts, Carson, Long Beach, and South Los Angeles, can access funding through Crail-Johnson Foundation for program, operating, or occasional capital support.

California 501(c)(3) organizations working on child abuse prevention, domestic violence, sexual assault, or foster care services can apply for grants supporting shelter, counseling, education, and healing programs. Grants from When Georgia Smiled help U.S. nonprofits expand services, improve facilities, and strengthen outcomes for vulnerable children and families in crisis.

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations in Los Angeles and Orange County advancing education and employment for historically underserved youth can seek flexible funding for college access, career pathways, and family-strengthening programs. The Ceres Foundation supports integrated, two-generation services that promote healthy parenting, prevent abuse, and build resilient families, often through general operating and multi-year capacity-building grants.

Nonprofit and public agency partners working on youth-focused research and practice in California can access funding to reduce inequality in outcomes for ages 5–25. Grants from William T Grant Foundation help U.S. partnerships in areas like child abuse and neglect, foster care, mental health, education, and juvenile justice build long-term, research-practice collaborations, including capacity-building and institutional change, with awards around US $650,000.

The Nick Traina Foundation is dedicated to supporting organizations focused on mental health issues, particularly manic-depression and suicide prevention. While currently only accepting proposals from the San Francisco Bay Area, the foundation prioritizes smaller nonprofits with annual revenues between $750,000 and $8 million. It also offers assistance to musicians facing mental health challenges, emphasizing a community-centered approach to mental illness treatment and family support.
