DMHAS also provides collaborative programs for individuals with special needs, such as persons with HIV/AIDS infection, people in the criminal justice system, those with problem gambling disorders, substance abusing pregnant women, persons with traumatic brain injury or hearing impairment, those with co-occurring substance abuse and mental illness, and special populations transitioning out of the Department of Children and Families.

Building Resilient Youth and Communities with Prevention (BRYCWP)

RFP Purpose

DMHAS seeks to fund up to ten (10) eligible proposers to implement evidence-based prevention strategies aimed at reducing underage drinking / alcohol use and an optional second prevention priority among youth ages 12-20 in communities. Funded organizations will be required to apply the SPF to guide their work, with a focus on reducing risk factors, strengthening protective factors, and achieving sustainable, community-level impact.

Contracts may be awarded for a term of up to five (5) years, and applicants must demonstrate the capacity to lead local prevention coalitions, implement effective strategies, and evaluate outcomes using measurable indicators.

The Dr. Scholl Foundation offers grants annually to IRS 501(c)(3) organizations, primarily focusing on U.S. applicants. The foundation supports projects in education, social services, healthcare, civic and cultural initiatives, and environmental efforts. While the grant cycle runs from October 1 to March 1, it encourages innovative solutions to global challenges. The State of Connecticut, represented by DMHAS, in its effort to successfully implement a comprehensive CIT Statewide Model including CIT training, collaboration and partnerships with community members, requests proposals from qualified CIT trained entities to provide submissions that effectively describe a plan to provide CIT Training statewide to law enforcement officers, first responders and behavioral health clinicians.

The statewide CIT Statewide Model and Training is designed to equip law enforcement officers, first responders, dispatch/911, mental health professionals, and other relevant stakeholders with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to effectively respond to individuals in crisis.

The CSWEP Environmental Professionals Grant Program, organized by the Connecticut Society for Women Environmental Professionals, aims to empower women in environmental fields. It funds local projects in Connecticut that contribute positively to the environment. Eligible organizations must serve the Greater New Haven area and comply with tax-exempt status requirements. Priority is given to programs that provide wraparound services to ensure comprehensive support for women in need.

Substance Use Disorder Residential Bed Expansion

Many adult substance use residential treatment programs in Connecticut (CT) are funded by CT Medicaid, which covers the treatment and room and board costs for individuals enrolled in Medicaid, through the CT 1115 substance use disorder (SUD) demonstration that started in March 2022. The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) provides contract dollars to many of these Medicaid-funded programs to serve individuals who are uninsured. DMHAS is soliciting proposals to add additional beds to existing substance use residential treatment programs or add new substance use residential treatment programs. These beds/programs would be jointly funded by CT Medicaid and DMHAS as described above. The specific American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) levels of care being expanded via this RFP are 3.5 and 3.1. There is particular interest in expanding services for women and those providing trauma and gender bestpractices.

RFP Purpose. To expand the number of beds in the Clinically Managed HighIntensity Residential Treatment services (ASAM Level 3.5) and Clinically Managed Low-Intensity Residential Treatment services (ASAM Level 3.1) levels of care in Connecticut.

250th Anniversary of the United States of America Grant

The Community Foundation announces an expansion of its civic engagement grants program to include a grants initiative focused on building democracy as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

What will be funded: Projects for local school-aged youth to increase their understanding of democracy.

Examples of potential grants

• Projects that highlight untold stories of marginalized people from the past or present such as women, indigenous people, people of color, or young people who have played a role in building, protecting or strengthening democracy.
• Using the arts, theater, music and dance, to connect past (including pre-revolution), present and future to make connections to building a strong civic society.

The Evelyn S. and K.E. Barrett Foundation, established in 2007, is dedicated to enhancing children's health, safety, and education. Founded by Evelyn and Kenneth Barrett, the Foundation focuses on providing opportunities for children in need, both domestically and internationally. Grants support various initiatives, including health, education, and human services, with a particular emphasis on benefiting children up to 18 years old. The David N. Lane Trust for Aged & Indigent Women Grant supports quality human services and health care for underserved senior women in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, Connecticut. Established in 1964, the grant prioritizes programs that directly benefit this demographic. However, it does not consider requests for capital projects, ensuring funding is directed toward immediate service needs. Organizations must demonstrate a commitment to serving older women in these communities to be eligible.

The Mutual of America Foundation Community Partnership Award honors exemplary nonprofit organizations in the U.S. that foster collaborative partnerships across sectors. Annually, a national competition showcases numerous organizations demonstrating impactful community partnerships. Six organizations receive recognition, including the Thomas J. Moran Award, which offers $100,000, and the Frances R. Hesselbein Award, granting $75,000.
