Joseph and Marla Dernay Future Teacher Scholarship

Scholarship eligibility requires students to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution of higher learning. All scholarships are for full-time students, unless otherwise noted. Renewable awards are for 4 years of undergraduate study and cannot be used for post graduate coursework; all awards are paid directly to the school or may be used for book reimbursement.

The Walling Family Scholarship, administered by the East Texas Communities Foundation, supports graduating seniors from public or private high schools in Gregg or Rusk County, Texas. Eligible students pursuing fields such as medicine, nursing, or pre-medicine can apply. The scholarship is renewable and requires FAFSA documentation to assess financial need. Established to empower local youth, it reflects the foundation's commitment to education and community support.

The Irene Yamamoto Arts Writers Fellowship supports emerging writers focusing on music criticism. This fellowship encourages applicants to submit writing samples that critically analyze live or recorded music. Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens or residents, 18 or older, and have less than two years of publication experience. The award includes unrestricted funds to advance their careers, alongside opportunities for publication and public speaking at the Democracy Center.

This funding opportunity invites applications for investigator-initiated clinical trials that deliver complementary and integrative health interventions remotely or via mobile health technologies. Emphasizing no in-person contact, the trials should demonstrate feasibility, safety, and potential clinical benefits. A Plan for Enhancing Diverse Perspectives is required for submission, and applicants are encouraged to consult with NCCIH contacts before applying. Deadlines for submissions range from February 2025 to October 2026.

The Karolyn Kolb Martinez “Excellence in Nursing” Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, honors the legacy of a dedicated nurse by supporting students pursuing nursing degrees. This scholarship is available to high school graduates and current nursing students in Central Texas counties. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to nursing excellence and maintain a minimum GPA, with reapplication allowed for up to three years.

The Linda Baumann Memorial Scholarship, established by family in memory of Linda Baumann, supports graduating seniors from Kerr County. This scholarship honors Linda's dedication to civic engagement and community service, encouraging applicants who demonstrate strong character, integrity, and leadership. The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country manages this scholarship, which aims to foster a spirit of philanthropy and support the educational aspirations of local students.

The Louella Beazley Memorial Scholarship, established by The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, supports graduating high school students from Kerr County pursuing degrees in medicine or nursing. This four-year renewable scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 and encourages recipients to engage in extracurricular activities and community service. The fund honors Louella Beazley's legacy and continues to assist local medical students, ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed in their educational endeavors.

The Loveless Family Scholarship, managed by The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, provides multi-year scholarships to graduating students from Kerr County public schools. It honors students who demonstrate a strong commitment to their personal goals while overcoming life's challenges. Established in 1981, the Foundation promotes philanthropy and supports community impact across 10 counties in Central Texas, ensuring a prosperous future for the region.

The Miriam E. Kay Memorial Scholarship, established by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, honors the legacy of educator Miriam E. Kay. This scholarship is aimed at supporting graduating Hispanic students from select high schools in Central Texas, helping them pursue higher education. Eligible applicants must maintain a 3.0 GPA and can renew the scholarship for up to four years, ensuring they have the resources needed to achieve their academic goals.

The Window of Opportunity Scholarship, established by The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, aims to support Gillespie County high school graduates who rank in the bottom 50% of their class or have participated in the Fredericksburg Academic Boosters Mentoring Program. This scholarship encourages educational advancement by providing financial assistance to those pursuing further education or a GED in the surrounding counties, reinforcing the Foundation's commitment to fostering an inclusive community.

Native Forward Scholars Fund members of federally and state-recognized Tribes as well as first and second-generation descendants. Ruth Muskrat Bronson Scholarship

This opportunity is provided to honor the life and legacy of Ruth Muskrat Bronson.

The purpose of the Ruth Muskrat Bronson Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to eligible federally recognized Tribal members of Oklahoma pursuing graduate or professional degrees full-time in Nursing or a health-related field.

The Hearst Journalism Awards Program, established in 1960, promotes excellence in journalism education by awarding scholarships to outstanding students. With up to $700,000 in awards, the program includes various competitions in writing, photojournalism, audio, television, and multimedia. Open to undergraduate journalism majors and minors from ACEJMC-accredited institutions, it encourages participation in campus media and recognizes exceptional work published while enrolled. The Hearst Foundation has a rich history of supporting educational initiatives.

The Community Foundation of the North State manages many scholarship funds that are awarded to graduating high school seniors as well as students already in an undergraduate program. Some scholarships were started by families or individuals; others by businesses or organizations. All scholarships share one important focus: helping young people reach their educational goals.

Matt Solus Memorial Scholarship Fund

The scholarship supports high school or College of the Siskiyous students in Siskiyou County pursuing careers in fire science or law enforcement.

Matt Solus Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Matt Solus, the son of Fred & Elouise Solus of Yreka. Matt was a victim of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Although Matt was on a heart transplant list, he succumbed to the disease at the age of 22. Matt was a 1997 graduate of Yreka High School. The Solus Family were pioneers in Siskiyou County, having first moved there in 1850. Matt was a member of the Explorer Program with the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department and had a strong interest in law enforcement and fire science. The scholarship supports students in Siskiyou County pursuing careers in fire science or law enforcement.

The ENF Community Investments Program offers Spotlight Grants to Lodges, empowering them to tackle pressing community issues such as family literacy, veteran homelessness, and hunger. Each Lodge can apply for a $2,000 grant without needing to meet the GER's per-member-giving goal. Funds can be used for one of the designated project plans or combined with the Beacon Grant, enabling flexible support for local initiatives.

The Early Career Research Programs: POST Program Grant aims to attract and retain promising early career scientists in pediatric oncology research. This summer internship offers students from underrepresented communities a chance to gain hands-on experience through mentorship and real-time research projects. With funding up to $5,000, it prioritizes student stipends and encourages diverse participation. Students must commit to an 8-10 week program, fostering professional growth and networking opportunities within the field.

Katrin Lamon Fellowship

This opportunity is provided to honor the life and legacy of Katrin Lamon.

The purpose of the Katrin Lamon Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native graduate students pursuing degrees full-time at an accredited institution in literature, communication, journalism, or other related fields.

This opportunity is a need-based award.

The Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes GYSD Grant supports youth-led projects for Youth Service Month and Global Youth Service Day. Open to U.S. and Canadian youth aged 5-25, grants of $250 or $500 are available, depending on volunteer engagement. Projects should address community needs and foster inclusivity among diverse youth volunteers. Successful applications will partner with local organizations and focus on relationship-building. A total of $50,000 in grants will be awarded, encouraging meaningful community service.

Wells Fargo American Indian Scholarship

The purpose of the Wells Fargo American Indian Scholarship program is to provide financial assistance to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate students pursuing degrees full-time at an accredited institution.

Undergraduate (juniors and seniors) students must be pursuing a degree in the gaming, tourism, financial, or hospitality industries. Graduate students must be pursuing a degree in business or a gaming/hospitality-related field. This includes banking, resort management, gaming operations, or management and administration (including accounting, finance, information technology, and human resources).

The maximum amount of an undergraduate award is $2,500 and the maximum amount of a graduate award is $5,000 per academic year. This opportunity is a need-based award.

The Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Grant Program, initiated by Eric Smidt through The Smidt Foundation, supports high school students in skilled trades education. This initiative facilitates pathways to graduation and fosters opportunities for meaningful employment. Each year, it awards $1.5 million in cash prizes to 25 exceptional U.S. public high school skilled trades teachers, enhancing support and investment in trades education. This program is a vital resource for schools aiming to improve their vocational training.

The Healthy Lifestyles in Youth program, funded by the Indian Health Service, aims to empower Tribes and Tribal Organizations to deliver essential public health services. This new cohort of NPHR awards supports initiatives that foster healthier lifestyles among youth in Indigenous communities, addressing critical health disparities and promoting well-being through culturally relevant programs and services.

The Calendar Year 2022 Disaster Water Grants program, administered by the USDA's Rural Utilities Service, aims to provide funding for water infrastructure repairs in areas affected by federally declared disasters during 2022. Eligible applicants include public bodies, non-profit organizations, and tribes, all required to demonstrate capacity and legal authority. The grants support not only repairs but also the enhancement of system resilience to mitigate future risks.

The NEI Institutional Mentored Physician Scientist Award (K12 Clinical Trial Optional) aims to foster innovative research career development for clinically trained vision scientists. This funding opportunity encourages institutions to develop programs that prepare scholars for independent research careers, particularly in minimal risk clinical trials. Emphasis is placed on recruiting underrepresented groups in research, ensuring a diverse pool of clinician investigators engaged in vision research.
