Awardees are current SHAPE America members with at least three years of membership, demonstrating excellence in teaching, coaching, or leadership. This prestigious award celebrates those who have made significant contributions to the field, inspiring others to lead healthy, active lives through their efforts in education and advocacy.

The Adapted PE/Activity Program of the Year Award recognizes outstanding community-based initiatives aimed at enhancing the physical capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Organized by SHAPE America, this award highlights programs that provide inclusive physical education and recreational opportunities, ensuring that all participants can engage in healthy, active lifestyles. By showcasing best practices, the award promotes innovation and advocacy for individuals with disabilities, fostering an environment of inclusion and support in physical activity.

The J.M. Heberlig/B.J. Helterbran Scholarship Fund, established by dedicated educators, supports Pennsylvania residents pursuing degrees in Art Education or Recreation & Parks. This scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden on students entering their second, third, or fourth year at a 4-year institution. With a focus on academic achievement, a minimum GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in the major is required, alongside a demonstrated commitment to education and community service.

To award annually a scholarship to a qualified applicant who intends to pursue education toward a 4-year college degree.

City Council Project Fund (CCPF)

The City Council Project Fund was established in 2011 to provide financial support for events and programs that serve a municipal purpose and promote:

• the health, safety and welfare of the community
• family, social and economic stability
• community fitness/recreation
• community education and training

Available Funding

The Mayor's office and the ten Council Districts are each provided $50,000 through the City Annual Budgeting process which establishes the CCFP each fiscal year.

Our community members support hundreds of local students every year through various scholarships facilitated by the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

Established in memory of Melinda “Mindy” Henning.

The Helen Irwin Littauer Educational Trust Grant supports charitable organizations in Tarrant County, focusing on education, arts, and human services. Established in 1969 by Mrs. Littauer, who was dedicated to community service and youth education, the Trust prioritizes scholarships for deserving students, especially in journalism, and alleviating human suffering. Organizations must skip one grant cycle before reapplying, ensuring fair access to funding for all eligible charities.

The Coastal Bend Community Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in the Coastal Bend through community endowment. The foundation awards up to $450,000 in grants annually to nonprofits serving its seven-county area. Grants of up to $10,000 support general operations, while those between $10,001 and $25,000 fund specific programs. Priorities include support for vulnerable populations, arts, education, and health services, focusing on impactful solutions for community challenges.

Theresa Alessandra Russo Foundation Inc

The Theresa Foundation honors the memory of Theresa Alessandra Russo by touching the lives of children with special needs and their families. The Foundation fosters each child’s unique abilities by supporting programs focusing on art, music, dance, drama, and recreation.

The Theresa Foundation has a vision of the world where artistic expression and physical recreation are just as important to adults as they are to children. We believe in a world where every child, regardless of ability or challenging conditions, is free to communicate through and participate in every art or recreational activity. A society without art is a society without soul. Art enables us to express our inner thoughts, fears, joys, and sadness.  

The Theresa Foundation Grant Program

The Theresa Foundation Grant Program is committed to providing financial support for programs in art, music, dance, drama, or recreation that are designed specifically for children with special needs in order to ensure that no one is excluded from these activities. 

We believe that every individual should have the opportunity to participate in art, music, dance, drama or recreation if they so choose. Our grant program works to provide direct funding for the success of these activities, while also promoting an environment of acceptance and inclusiveness where all can take part without judgment or fear. 

As of 2026, the Theresa Foundation has provided over $3,300,000 in grant funding for over 200 programs in 29 states throughout the country and 4 international grants. With your help we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those with special needs by providing them access to enriching experiences that would otherwise be out of reach. 

The National Forest Foundation’s Collaborative Capacity Program offers financial support to enhance collaboration among local communities and partners, focusing on improving wildfire resilience and forest health. Grants range from $10,001 to $75,000, with a 20% cash or in-kind match requirement. The program aims to foster long-term stewardship outcomes for National Forest System lands, ensuring benefits to both forests and local economies through collaborative efforts.

The National Forest Foundation’s Collaborative Capacity Program offers financial awards to enhance collaboration among communities, tribes, and the Forest Service. Aimed at improving wildfire resilience and forest health, these grants support efforts that lead to long-term stewardship outcomes. Funding ranges from $10,001 to $75,000, with a 20% match required. The program seeks to empower local partners to develop strategic plans and strengthen collaborative initiatives, ultimately benefiting National Forest System lands.

The National Life Group Charitable Foundation provides grants to nonprofits primarily in Vermont and Texas, focusing on proven programs that address issues like childhood hunger and family support. With an annual budget of $2 million, the foundation seeks proposals with a clear plan, community backing, and measurable success. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, while ineligible projects include endowments, scholarships, and those that discriminate based on race, gender, or other factors.

The I9 Sports Association provides scholarship grants to support youth sports participation for children under 18 in the U.S. Grants of up to $150 help offset registration fees for various recreational activities. With a focus on inclusivity and access, the association aims to foster athletic development and participation among young athletes. Applications are accepted year-round, with grants awarded in February, May, August, and November, ensuring ongoing support for youth sports engagement.

DICK'S Sporting Goods offers a Sponsorships & Donations Program aimed at supporting youth sports leagues and organizations. They prioritize requests that promote community engagement and character development through sports. Eligible organizations must operate in areas with a DICK'S store and adhere to anti-discrimination policies. The program evaluates requests monthly, with sponsorships up to $25,000 and donations up to $250. Support may include gift certificates or coupons for teams and events, fostering an inclusive sports culture.

The Michael Scott Kramer Memorial Scholarship, offered by the San Juan Island Community Foundation, is designed for post-secondary students pursuing education in fields like recreation, adventure tourism, and marine trades. This scholarship honors Mike Kramer, a beloved outdoorsman, by encouraging students to embrace life and adventure. Candidates should demonstrate community service, a strong work ethic, and a passion for their studies. It aims to inspire the next generation to live authentically and pursue their dreams.

The Cooper Foundation Grant Program aims to enhance the quality of life in Waco, Texas, by providing funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Potential applicants are encouraged to submit a Grant Inquiry and consult with Foundation staff to ensure their proposals align with funding priorities. The Foundation supports projects in education, health, arts, culture, and social services, emphasizing community impact and collaboration.

The Big Spring Area Community Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations and governmental entities that benefit residents of Howard County and surrounding areas. With over $16 million in assets, the foundation supports initiatives in art, culture, health, education, environment, and sports. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt under IRS regulations. The foundation favors specific project requests and requires prior funding recipients to submit expenditure reports before reapplying.

The Impact100 Houston Grant Program empowers women to become philanthropists by providing transformative grants of at least $100,000 to nonprofit organizations across five focus areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Family, and Health & Wellness. The program aims to support initiatives that create measurable impacts within the community, emphasizing the importance of financial transparency and timely fund utilization within 12 months of the award.

The Impact100 Global Veterans Awards empower women to make a significant difference by awarding grants up to $100,000 to nonprofits that serve veterans. Focus areas include art and culture, education, health and wellness, environment, and family initiatives, promoting the well-being and support of veterans across the United States. Eligible organizations must meet specific criteria, including tax-exempt status, and are encouraged to submit proposals that utilize funds effectively within two years.

Impact San Antonio Grants empower nonprofit organizations in the region by providing funding for initiatives that focus on Arts & Culture, Education, Environment & Preservation, Family, and Health & Wellness. Since 2004, over $2.6 million has been awarded to impactful projects. Eligible applicants must be recognized 501(c)(3) organizations operating within designated Texas counties, ensuring a significant positive contribution to their communities.

The National Life Group Charitable Foundation offers sponsorships to support nonprofits, focusing on strong community connections. The application opens annually on January 1st and is reviewed on a rolling basis until funding is exhausted. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits, but nonprofit status is not mandatory. The foundation prioritizes well-planned proposals that address community needs and demonstrate measurable success. With an annual budget of $2.8 million, sponsorships typically support one-time events, promoting the foundation's do-good message.

Impact100 Wichita Falls empowers women to participate in philanthropy through transformational grants of at least $100,000. The program focuses on five key areas: Arts & Culture, Education, Family, Health & Wellness, and Environment. Eligible nonprofit organizations must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entities serving specific counties and submit only one application annually. Grants support innovative projects and require sustainability plans post-funding, aiming to bring long-lasting positive change to the community.

Selkirk Pickleball Growth Program

At Selkirk, we are committed to growing the sport of pickleball by making it accessible to everyone. The Selkirk Growth Program enables schools and community programs worldwide to access Selkirk equipment.

Our original goal was to give away 3,000+ paddles a year; we have now given away more than 40,000 paddles since we started in 2019. As part of our Growth Program, we are donating gently-used paddles to:

Schools.

• First responders.
• Senior centers.
• Churches.
• Parks & recreation departments.
• Other community organizations looking to expand their programs.

We will also provide a discount on additional paddles, balls, and nets for schools and charities involved in the program.

The Youth Sports Grant offers up to $5,000 in travel funding for nonprofessional youth sports teams to participate in sporting events in North Carolina and beyond. This grant is available on a rolling basis and is limited to one application per county each year. Eligible applicants include local government units and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. The aim is to support youth engagement in sports and facilitate travel costs such as transportation and lodging.

The Hearst Foundation's Social Service Grant focuses on tackling chronic poverty by funding direct-service organizations that implement effective solutions for economic independence and family strengthening. With a mission to support diverse nonprofits in the U.S., the Foundation allocates approximately 15% of its total funding to social services, prioritizing scalable programs that serve significant populations. The minimum grant size is $100,000, and special consideration is given to organizations addressing affordable housing, domestic violence, and youth development.

The Great American Cleanup Grants, offered by Keep America Beautiful, aim to enhance community beautification and environmental efforts across the U.S. This initiative encourages KAB affiliates to remove litter, plant greenery, and restore public spaces, contributing to the larger goal of cleaning up 25 billion pieces of litter by 2026. With cash grants available, this program fosters collaboration among communities, promoting sustainable practices and a cleaner, greener future for all.
