STFM Research Paper of the Year Award

The STFM Research Paper of the Year Award recognizes a research paper published in a peer-reviewed journal the previous July 1 through June 30. The first author must be an STFM member. The STFM Research Committee bases the award selection on the quality of the research and its potential impact. The winning paper will be presented at the STFM Annual Spring Conference. STFM Project Fund

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Project Fund encourages STFM Collaboratives and Special Project Teams to plan, develop, implement, evaluate, and disseminate findings from educationally-related scholarly projects. The outcomes of projects supported through the STFM Project Fund should benefit members, the STFM, and the discipline of family medicine. The project should also provide students, residents and new faculty an opportunity to participate in a significant way in a scholarly project that exposes them to STFM.The STFM Project Fund is coordinated by the STFM Foundation Executive Committee and funded through the STFM Foundation. 

A project may be funded for 1 or 2 years at one of the two levels below:

• Full Funding: A few proposals of exceptional quality and potential impact may be funded up to $10000 total.
• Seed Money: To support projects up to $5000 total.

Proposals at either funding level must have matching in-kind contributions for personnel (eg, faculty and/or staff), equipment, and/or supplies.  Any unspent dollars from projects must be returned to the STFM Foundation.

The Senior Chemists Mini Grant for Local Sections, offered by the American Chemical Society, is designed to support local events that engage senior members in innovative activities. Grants are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and funding can be used for various events including recognition luncheons, mentoring for undergraduates, collaborative activities with younger chemists, and community support events such as science fairs.

STFM New Faculty Scholars Program

The STFM New Faculty Scholars Programs helps early career family medicine faculty develop leadership and scholarship skills. Scholars receive 1 year of the New Faculty Scholars coaching, learning, and networking opportunities with senior leadership and other new family medicine faculty.  

The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida offers the Art Ventures grant for small to mid-sized arts organizations. This funding aims to enhance organizational capacity and support program development. Eligible applicants must hold 501(c)(3) status or partner with a fiscal sponsor, and demonstrate a commitment to arts and culture in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, Putnam, or St. Johns counties. Additional support is available for Black-led organizations that meet specific criteria.

The Digital Equity Initiative Partnership Grant aims to support collaborative projects that address digital equity needs in Essex County. This grant prioritizes four key impact areas: devices, access, literacy, and collaboration. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations recognized as tax-exempt or those with fiscal sponsorship under section 501(c)(3). The program encourages proposals that involve partnerships and integrated systems to effectively tackle these challenges within the community.

The National Facilities program, funded by the National Science Foundation, provides essential research capabilities through specialized user facilities across various scientific disciplines including biology, chemistry, and physics. These facilities offer advanced instrumentation and resources for research in high magnetic fields and nanofabrication. They not only support scientists and engineers but also engage students and teachers through educational initiatives, enhancing public awareness and contributing to curriculum development.

Energy Efficiency Trust Fund Grant Program - Illinois

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) Office of Energy announces the availability of funds from the Energy Efficiency Trust Fund (“EE Trust Fund”). The EE Trust Fund was established by 20 ILCS 687/6-6 to benefit residential electric customers through projects reducing energy demand. Illinois EPA Office of Energy is responsible for establishing a list of projects eligible for grants from the EE Trust Fund and an application process with determined criteria for this grant program.

Illinois EPA Office of Energy is offering funding to public housing authorities, units of local government (municipalities, counties or townships), or nonprofit organizations for implementation of energy efficiency improvements benefitting residents participating in federal, state, or local public housing programs, housing choice vouchers, rental assistance, or subsidized housing assistance programs. Funding will be awarded for projects of up to forty (40) dwelling units per location, with costs not to exceed $20,000 per dwelling unit. The proposed improvement projects must include upgrades identified in an energy efficiency assessment conducted by a third-party assessor within the last five (5) years.

Eligible projects may include:

• Building envelope insulation
• Window replacement
• Space heating and cooling equipment retrofit
• Heating and cooling distribution system retrofit
• Domestic hot water equipment
• Lighting upgrades (indoor and/or outdoor)
• High-Efficiency appliance replacement
• Programmable thermostats

Awards will range from $50,000 to $1,000,000. There is a cost share/match requirement for this program.

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) in Pennsylvania enhances home energy efficiency, reducing costs and increasing comfort while prioritizing health and safety. This program offers on-site energy audits to identify cost-effective measures, including air sealing, insulation installation, and heating system modifications. Clients receive education on maintaining these improvements and reducing energy waste. Managed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, WAP aims to foster a resilient economy and community.

Arts Tourism Funding Program: Celebrating Pinellas County’s Creative Spirit Grant

Creative Pinellas is spearheading a transformative new arts tourism funding program designed to position Pinellas County as a premier cultural destination while strengthening its creative economy. On Tuesday, March 24, the Pinellas Board of County Commissioners approved the $500,000 program by unanimous vote. Creative Pinellas will direct the program, which is funded by Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VSPC) with outreach and event support provided by St. Petersburg Arts Alliance and Clearwater Arts Alliance.

The inaugural program will fund a wide range of experiences created by artists and arts organizations selected through a competitive process. The experiences will shape a countywide, multi-week festival of the arts during Fall 2026 featuring performances, exhibitions, workshops, public art, and immersive cultural experiences across beaches, parks, downtown districts, and cultural venues. It is expected to reach an estimated 2.5 million visitors during that time.

This marks the first time Creative Pinellas has distributed arts funding to support not only individual artists and nonprofits, but also for-profit arts organizations.

Award Amounts and Frequency

• The panel plans to select approximately 20-30 arts experiences, totaling $350,000 to Individual Artists and Organizations. It is possible that more or fewer experiences will be selected. Another $50,000 is planned for those selected to provide opening and closing experiences for the month of the arts.
• The panel reviewing applications will be asked to fund in two categories: individuals and organizations.
• Individual Artists may apply for $5,000 to $15,000.
• Organizations may apply for $15,000 to $50,000.
• The panel predicts to select a very limited number of arts experiences at the higher funding levels.
• All applicants acknowledge that Creative Pinellas may offer funding at a different amount than applied for.

The Erie County Community Foundation's Access to Recreation Fund aims to enhance recreational access for individuals of all abilities in Erie County, Ohio. This fund supports projects that promote collaboration among local organizations, build capacity, and ensure sustainability, yielding significant community benefits. Eligible applicants include IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) non-profits, churches, and schools. The Foundation prioritizes projects that serve the local community and may cover operational costs, but excludes funding for advertising, political activities, or individual grants.

Lev D. Landau and Lyman Spitzer Jr. Award for Outstanding Contributions to Plasma Physics

Recognizes outstanding theoretical, experimental, or technical contribution(s) in plasma physics and for advancing the collaboration and unity between Europe and the United States of America by joint research or research that advances knowledge which benefits the two communities in a unique way.

The award may be given to a team or collaboration of up to four persons affiliated with either European or United States institutions.

The award consists of $4,000, a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient, and a registration fee waiver to attend the meeting at which the award is to be presented.

The person or team receiving the award will be offered an invited talk at the forthcoming annual conference of APS-DPP (usually early November) or EPS-DPP (usually end of June, or first week of July), depending on the affiliation of the recipient(s).

On years that DPP is hosting, in the event of a team larger than five (5), DPP may cap the number of registration waivers.

Small Business Energy Audit and Retrofit Grant Program

Small Business Energy Audit and Retrofit grants are available to Wyoming small businesses and nonprofits looking for cost-effective opportunities to lower their energy usage. Grants will be used to complete a comprehensive energy audit and approved energy efficiency retrofits. 10% match required. 

Approved retrofits include: 

• Installation of energy efficient lighting (LED)
• Installation of insulation
• HVAC upgrades
• Weather sealing
• Purchase and installation of ENERGY STAR appliances
• Replacement of windows and doors  

Applicant must be the owner of the building/facility.

DICK'S Sporting Goods offers a Sponsorships & Donations Program aimed at supporting youth sports leagues and organizations. They prioritize requests that promote community engagement and character development through sports. Eligible organizations must operate in areas with a DICK'S store and adhere to anti-discrimination policies. The program evaluates requests monthly, with sponsorships up to $25,000 and donations up to $250. Support may include gift certificates or coupons for teams and events, fostering an inclusive sports culture.

The Brunton Award, sponsored by the Association for Women Geoscientists, encourages female geoscience students in their senior year or early graduate studies. It recognizes those who have excelled in fieldwork, such as internships or field camps, and promotes the importance of field-based studies in geosciences. Recipients receive an engraved Brunton transit and a one-year membership to AWG, supporting their future in the geosciences.

John Dawson Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics Research

Recognizes a particular recent outstanding achievement in plasma physics research.

The award consists of $5,000, a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient, and a travel reimbursement of up to $2,000 to attend the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) meeting. Information on allowable travel expenses appears here.

In the case of multiple recipients, the stipend and travel reimbursement will be divided equally.

The recipient will receive a DPP meeting registration waiver. In the event of a team larger than five (5), DPP may cap the number of registration waivers.

It will be awarded annually.

Nominations will be considered for three review cycles provided the nominator re-certifies the nomination before the next deadline.

Prior to 2007, this award was originally named the Award for Excellence in Plasma Physics.

With thirteen special funds, the program supports initiatives such as humane education and low-cost spay/neuter services. Grants are intended for projects that positively impact animal care and welfare across the state, encouraging community involvement and addressing critical challenges related to animal protection.

The SCCF Education Grants Cycle supports projects that enhance education and skill development for all ages in Steuben County. Grants range from $500 to $25,000, aimed at nonprofits with a focus on improving quality of life. Special consideration is given to collaborative initiatives addressing root causes. Eligible applicants include nonprofits serving Steuben County, while individuals and projects primarily funded by government sources are not supported.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides significant funding to urban counties like St. Louis. This grant supports initiatives aimed at benefiting low and moderate-income individuals, addressing urgent community needs, and preventing blight. St. Louis County directs CDBG funds to municipalities and nonprofits to undertake vital community development projects, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and national objectives.

The Building for the Arts Grant, provided by the Washington State Department of Commerce, supports nonprofit organizations in funding up to 33% of eligible capital costs for acquiring, constructing, or renovating arts and cultural facilities. This initiative aims to enhance community engagement and accessibility to the arts, fostering a vibrant cultural landscape across the state. Eligible organizations are encouraged to apply for this vital support to advance their projects.

About the Fund

The Community Catalyst Grant Program is an evolution of the Arts Access Grants. The Community Catalyst Grant Program has the goal of uplifting historically under-resourced populations in Santa Clara County through community-driven, impactful artistic projects. Rather than a change, this is an evolution of the program intended to accomplish three things:

Lower the Barrier to Entry: The Community Catalyst Grant opens up funding to individual artists, informal collectives, and unincorporated groups who were previously ineligible

Narrow the Focus to Community Ownership: The review process places its highest emphasis (40%) on community leadership, co-creation, and lived experience rather than institutional longevity or traditional "artistic excellence".

Simplify the Application and the Reporting: The new program significantly reduces administrative burden by streamlining application materials and offering multi-format final reporting options.

The focus of this program are projects that utilize arts and culture as a catalyst for community dialogue, healing, collective action, and/or capacity building in under-resourced communities. This grant is funded by The County of Santa Clara and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).
