Retirees of Regions and its affiliated companies are eligible for the Matching Gift Program for up to 5 years after retirement (the gift date must be within the first 5 years of retirement). Regions will match donations of $25 or more, up to a total of $1,000 per year per retiree.

The BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation's Health Priority Grants support initiatives that enhance health access and outcomes for South Carolinians, especially the economically disadvantaged. The Henry Mayo Newhall Foundation, established in 1963, is dedicated to enhancing life quality in communities linked to California pioneer Henry Mayo Newhall. The Department of Natural Resources’ Watershed and Climate Services Grants Gateway

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Watershed & Climate Services (WCS) is committed to providing technical and financial assistance to Maryland’s communities that are challenged by intense storms, changing sea levels and increasing flooding, while balancing growing populations, economic growth, and increased tourism and recreation. These trends make the already challenging task of restoring the Chesapeake Bay, safeguarding people and infrastructure and managing natural resources even more complex.

Grants Gateway provides a resource for partners seeking technical and financial support for projects that foster healthy and resilient ecosystems, communities, and economies. Grants Gateway provides a centralized hub to streamline the grant application process for governments, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations.

Eligible projects across six programs (as above) will improve water quality, restore local waterways, increase community flood planning, develop the next generation of environmental stewards, improve shorelines, and plan for beneficial reuse.

Resilience through Restoration Initiative

Design habitat restoration projects to address erosion and flooding in communities and on public lands.

This funding opportunity supports design/permitting of restoration projects.

The Resilience through Restoration Initiative supports on-the-ground implementation of restoration projects to help protect communities from erosion, flooding, and other climate change impacts. The goal of this program is to reduce Maryland’s vulnerabilities and enhance resiliency of local communities, economies, and natural resources.

Projects can be located throughout Maryland. Public and private lands are eligible, but projects on private lands must demonstrate a community-wide benefit and provide an access/landowner agreement.

The Herndon Foundation, established in 1965, supports diverse local causes in the metro Richmond area, focusing on education, health, and cultural preservation. They prioritize programs that ensure educational advancement, meet basic human needs, and enhance access to arts and culture. Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under IRS Section 501(c)(3). The Foundation particularly favors programmatic support that demonstrates a significant impact. Grant requests submitted through their website are given priority.

Johnson County Community Development Office

The mission of the Johnson County Community Development Office is to secure federal, state and local funding for community development activities, to provide leadership in coordinating these activities, and to ensure continued funding through accountable, efficient and effective use of these funds in serving low- to moderate-income residents in Johnson County.

Community Development Block Grant

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. The program is authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974.

Federal Objective

The primary objective of Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, is to promote “development of viable urban communities, by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income.” The Code of Federal Regulations, 24 CFR 570 Subparts A through O, govern how this objective is to be carried out.

Johnson County’s Priority Objectives

The primary goal of the program is to provide federal financial assistance to eligible applicants for the purpose of community development. In pursuit of this goal, the County has identified several strategies in the Plan that applicants should consider when applying. A unit of local government may also use local goals and/or objectives in support of a specific activity for which funds are requested. As stated in the 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan, the priority needs are: Non-Housing Community Development; Affordable Housing; and Homelessness.

The CDBG program includes funding for: 1) Housing Projects; 2) Public Facilities Projects 3) Public Services Projects; and 4) Economic Development Projects

Public Services Projects

Eligible Activities

Once the National Objective is determined then the activity must be a public service as defined at 24 CFR 570.201(e). Provision of public services, including but not limited to those concerned with employment, crime prevention, childcare, health, drug abuse, education, fair housing counseling, energy conservation, welfare, homebuyer downpayment assistance or recreational needs.

The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation, established in 2015, focuses on community transformation in Southeast Michigan and Western New York. With a spend-down structure by 2035, the foundation prioritizes collaborative investments in key areas like active lifestyles, success preparation, caregiver support, and economic development. Emphasizing urgency and innovation, it seeks to create lasting impacts by fostering partnerships and supporting visionary projects that address significant community needs.

The Big Bets Fellowship: Economic Opportunity in the United States is a transformative 4-month program designed to empower emerging leaders to tackle economic challenges head-on. With a focus on innovative solutions for job creation, affordable housing, and equitable access to resources, the fellowship equips participants with essential skills and a supportive network. The initiative aims to drive systemic change and promote sustainable economic prosperity, addressing inequalities while fostering resilient communities across the nation.

The Maryland Nita M. Lowey 21st CCLC Grant, administered by the Maryland State Department of Education, aims to support local education agencies and community organizations in providing after-school academic enrichment programs. This grant focuses on assisting students from low-performing schools to meet academic standards while offering additional services such as youth development, substance abuse prevention, and family literacy opportunities. Grants range from $50,000 to $400,000, enhancing educational and community engagement.

The Forward Turn Youth Grantmakers is a youth-led program aimed at supporting positive community initiatives in Fauquier and Loudoun Counties. Funded by the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties, it encourages youth involvement in grant applications that address issues like substance abuse, internet safety, and mental health. The program prioritizes projects led by teens, fostering collaboration and innovative solutions to enhance community engagement and support for youth.

The Heart of Cook Grants support non-profit organizations, schools, and government units in furthering education, enhancing human services, and protecting the environment within Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana. With funding priorities focused on skill development, community independence, and environmental restoration, the grants aim to foster local leadership and innovative solutions. Eligible applicants may submit one application per cycle, with particular attention given to measurable outcomes and projects addressing emerging community needs.

The Therapeutic Giving program by Johnson & Johnson focuses on funding initiatives that enhance patient access to treatment and advance health equity, particularly in immunology. Eligible nonprofit organizations can apply for support aimed at improving health outcomes through innovative programs. The initiative prioritizes measurable impacts over fundraising activities, emphasizing the importance of addressing healthcare disparities and promoting disease awareness efforts for diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

The California State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) aims to bolster the number of healthcare providers in underserved areas, including primary care physicians, dentists, and mental health professionals. By offering financial incentives, SLRP encourages qualified applicants to serve in California Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). Funding priorities include previous recipients who have fulfilled their obligations, new applicants, and equitable distribution of awards across various regions and disciplines.

The NHLBI Career Transition Award (K22) program supports postdoctoral fellows in transitioning their research to extramural institutions. The program includes a mentored intramural phase (up to two years) followed by an extramural phase (three years), totaling five years of support. Applications have multiple deadlines, including October 12, 2024, and February 12, 2025, among others. Successful transition depends on the awardee's progress during the mentored phase, evaluated by NHLBI.

Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research

The Asia-Pacific region, home to over half the world's population, faces challenges due to its development goals, which strain natural resources, communities, and cultural heritage. These issues are exacerbated by adverse environmental changes. While research has shed light on these problems, it's clear that more challenges lie ahead. The Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) is well-positioned to generate new knowledge and solutions for these evolving global change and sustainability issues by supporting collaborative research and scientific capacity development activities, particularly those aimed at training the next generation of early career professionals.

APN 2025 Call for Proposals: CRRP 

Through the competitive Collaborative Regional Research Programme (CRRP), we promote regional research that has potential to improve our understanding of global change and its implications while contributing to a sound scientific basis for policymaking in areas affected by global change. Under this pillar, APN supports collaborative research that contributes to the evolving science-policy arena, including the UNFCCC Paris Agreement, IPCC, IPBES, post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the UN Decade of Ocean Science as well as ongoing and new global change and sustainability research programmes.

Activities of interest under the CRRP Programme

APN promotes regional collaborative research that improves understanding of the physical, biological and human dimensions of change in the Earth system and advances actionable science that informs decision-making. APN accepts proposals that engage at least 3 member/approved countries in the region, and prioritise collaboratively designed, actionable research with non-academic stakeholders. Proposals must address one or more of the following activities:

• Collaborative research on global change and sustainability that particularly addresses GAPS, ANALYSIS, SYNTHESIS and ASSESSMENT work.
• Collaborative research that develops PATHWAYS and MECHANISMS to achieve sustainable development, and develop adaptation strategies.
• Collaborative PLACE-BASED INTEGRATIVE RESEARCH, particularly from developing countries.
• Collaborative research that is CO-DESIGNED to contribute to the Paris Agreeemnt, Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, UN Decade of Ocean Science (2021-2030), and the accumulation of scientific knowledge at IPCC, IPBES, etc.

The Prenatal to Five (P-5) Innovation Fund aims to empower community-driven solutions for families in King County. With approximately $900,000 available, community leaders are invited to propose innovative, anti-racist approaches that prioritize Black, Indigenous, and families of color, as well as those facing systemic barriers. Proposals can request up to $30,000, or $50,000 for pilot activities, to implement impactful services and programs for underserved communities.

The Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation offers grants over $3,500 to nonprofits and public entities aiming to enhance community welfare, arts, education, economic development, and environmental stewardship. Operating since 1975, the foundation prioritizes projects that benefit residents in Cook, Lake, and Southern St. Louis Counties. Eligible applicants must have a 501(c)(3) designation or work with a fiscal sponsor. The foundation does not fund private foundations or projects for election campaigns or direct religious purposes.

The Fall Field of Interest Grants from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation aim to enhance the health of youth and seniors in Michigan. Established under the Tobacco Settlement Partnership, these grants support programs focusing on nutrition, counseling, and wellness for individuals aged 0-18 and 55 and older. Eligible applicants include nonprofits and governmental entities serving specified counties. With over $65.7 million awarded, the foundation continues its commitment to community health and well-being.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is inviting applications for the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment or Prevention (SBIRT/P) program. This funding opportunity aims to explore innovative methods for addressing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use among adults facing health disparities. By investing in these initiatives, the foundation seeks to foster community development and enhance the quality of life for those in need across major Texas cities.

The Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation, established in 1975, provides grants under $3,500 to nonprofit organizations and public entities in the North Shore region. Focused on areas like social welfare, arts and culture, education, community development, and environmental protection, the Foundation has awarded over $18 million in grants. It aims to enhance opportunities for local residents, particularly those in low-income situations, and supports initiatives that foster long-term positive impacts.

The Harvey Community Investment Grants, facilitated by the Harvey County United Way, aim to empower local non-profit and community organizations by funding programs focused on education, health, and income stability. With over 65 years of experience, the organization emphasizes measurable outcomes and sustainable impacts. Grant applicants must demonstrate a clear community need, illustrating their program's effectiveness in addressing issues like educational access, health care, and financial stability for residents. The initiative underscores a partnership approach, ensuring ongoing support beyond the grant.

The Urban Farm Conservation Mini-Grant provides up to $5,000 to support commercial urban farmers in Minnesota in implementing vital conservation practices. Funded by the USDA's NRCS, this grant helps farmers acquire equipment and materials necessary for sustainable management of soil, water, and biodiversity. Eligible projects may include soil improvement, water management systems, and enhancing plant and animal health. This initiative aims to promote environmentally friendly farming techniques and bolster urban agriculture.
