Program Description

The purpose of this grant program is to provide targeted capacity support to increase the number of School Psychologists across the state of Texas. By investing in the academic infrastructure of School Psychologist programs, this initiative aims to expand program capacity, maintain instructional quality, and accelerate the pipeline of qualified School Psychologists entering the workforce in Texas. This effort directly addresses the statewide shortage of licensed School Psychologists and supports the long-term goal of improving access to essential evaluations and services for students with disabilities.

The Emergency Community Water Assistance Grants in Texas support eligible rural communities in preparing for or recovering from emergencies that jeopardize safe drinking water. Events qualifying as emergencies include droughts, floods, and disease outbreaks. The grants can fund water transmission lines and new water sources, with funding up to $1,000,000. These efforts aim to restore access to clean water and enhance local environments, ultimately benefiting rural households and businesses.

FNBO's Community Sponsorships provide vital financial support to nonprofit organizations and community events that enhance the well-being of our communities. By focusing on affordable housing, entrepreneurship, education, environmental sustainability, access to arts and culture, community cohesion, and health, FNBO aims to create impactful partnerships. Monthly reviews of sponsorship requests ensure timely decision-making, emphasizing FNBO's commitment to fostering community development and empowering historically underrepresented populations.

The NRA Foundation: Texas Grants support charitable initiatives that align with the foundation's mission to promote firearms safety, education, and research. Eligible applicants include IRS-recognized entities, government bodies, and state-recognized nonprofits. The foundation prioritizes projects that enhance public understanding of firearms and support shooting sports. Organizations not meeting the criteria, such as labor groups and private businesses, are ineligible. This grant fosters community engagement and safety in relation to firearms.

Nature's Path's Gardens for Good program empowers communities by funding organic gardens that address food insecurity. Since 2010, it has donated $930,000 CAD to support 120 gardens. In 2023, grants of $6,500 each will be awarded to 20 gardens across the U.S. and Canada. Eligible applicants must be registered non-profits with urban organic agriculture projects that serve low-income communities, promoting sustainable practices and inclusivity.

The Russell Foundation provides grants aimed at enhancing the development of children and youth into confident and responsible individuals. With a focus on education, character building, health, and intervention, the foundation seeks to support programs that address the holistic needs of young people. Their mission emphasizes fostering a positive environment that promotes growth and development, ensuring that children and youth can achieve their fullest potential, regardless of their socio-economic background.

NCRC Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) - Housing Counseling Services

The Field Empowerment Fund (FEF) empowers NCRC network members to level up established service lines.

The Housing Counseling Services series within FEF supports HUD-approved housing counseling agencies in driving homeownership, such as through pre-purchase counseling. In addition, the program builds agency knowledge on heirs’ property challenges to better equip first-time and low-income homebuying households with the know-how to retain intergenerational wealth.

In doing so, FEF-HCS aims to help underserved families begin their homeownership journey, with an additional goal of ensuring foresight into the long-term future of their home purchase.

The FEF-HCS series is funded in partnership with Key Bank and HSBC, and targets communities within the Key Bank and HSBC branch footprints.

Through these partnerships, $2.5 million in Key Bank geographies and $1.5 million in HSBC geographies has been allocated for the subgrants for direct-to-client housing counseling services that will be awarded in three rounds in the FEF-HCS track.

Funding Support

Awardee agencies will receive subgrants to support their housing counseling services to clients.

Knowledge Building

Awardee agencies will attend a training session on heirs’ property challenges and best practices, hosted by NCRC National Training Academy. Bolstering counselor knowledge on this topic will ensure that your agency is not only serving clients in their personal wealth-building journey now, but also helping them preserve that wealth in generations to come.

The Texas Panhandle General Scholarship Fund, managed by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports college students from the 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle. Applicants must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 and enroll in a college within the region, pursuing any degree from Associate to Doctorate. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities and foster community development through accessible higher education.

The Scott Riola Memorial Scholarship Fund, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports current flight nurses from the Texas Panhandle's top 26 counties who seek to further their education. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and possess a flight certification (CEN, CCRN, or CFRN). This initiative exemplifies the Foundation's commitment to enhancing healthcare education and ensuring skilled professionals serve the community's needs.

The Ryan Foundation, established in 1983, aims to support charitable causes primarily in Fort Worth and Tarrant County, Texas. Grants range from $5,000 to $1,000,000, with a typical grant size around $30,000. Organizations must demonstrate 501(c)(3) status to be eligible. The Foundation prioritizes health care, education, and the arts while specifically excluding individual loans and out-of-state projects. Interested parties should submit a letter of inquiry before full applications.

Rising 2L and 3L JD students at Texas Law seeking funded summer environmental law experience in Texas can apply for this fellowship, which provides a US $8,000 stipend. William Wayne Justice Center for Public Interest Law supports work with 501(c)(3) nonprofit legal organizations protecting Texas’ natural resources and the communities that depend on them.

The WGPF: Legends & Lore Marker Grant Program celebrates and promotes local folklore, legends, and folklife as vital aspects of cultural heritage. Targeted at 501(c)(3) organizations and government entities across 14 US states, it aims to enhance cultural tourism by commemorating community stories. Successful applications typically focus on folktales, historical legends, and community traditions, while excluding purely literary works or personal folklore that lacks broader community significance.

The RFA- SHSP and UASI grant program by the State of Texas Office of the Governor aims to bolster state and local initiatives for preventing terrorism and enhancing public safety. It focuses on funding projects that address critical preparedness gaps, improve response capabilities, and ensure community resilience against threats. With a minimum funding level of $10,000, the program supports comprehensive efforts to protect citizens and infrastructure, ultimately fostering a secure environment for all Texans.

The Alvin A. and Hattie Mae Bush Accounting Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors and current college students from the Texas Panhandle. Applicants must be majoring in Accounting and plan to attend Amarillo College, Texas Tech University, or West Texas A&M University. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities for local students, fostering a brighter future for the community.

The John S. Stiff Governmental Services Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports City of Amarillo employees pursuing a college degree in municipal government. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 and complete the Foundation's General Scholarship Application. This scholarship aims to enhance career advancement opportunities within local government, thereby contributing to the overall quality of life in the Texas Panhandle.

The Brandy Lee Leard Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports high school seniors and college students from the Texas Panhandle who are parents or expectant parents. This scholarship provides up to $1,500 per semester for trade/vocational schools and up to $3,500 for accredited colleges/universities. Eligible applicants must maintain a 2.5 GPA and complete the Foundation's General Scholarship Application. This initiative aims to improve educational opportunities for young parents in the community.

The Fred Woodward Endowed Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors and current college students in Texas who are children of Texas Seed Trade Association members. Recipients can attend any accredited institution and pursue any field of study, provided they meet eligibility criteria including full-time enrollment and maintaining a minimum GPA. This scholarship is part of the Foundation's commitment to improving the quality of life in the Texas Panhandle.

The Robert L. Priddy Hall of Fame Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports current flight nurses from the Texas Panhandle aiming to further their education. Eligible applicants must possess flight certifications such as CEN, CCRN, or CFRN, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and achieve a 3.5 GPA while enrolled. This scholarship empowers dedicated healthcare professionals to enhance their skills and impact the community.

The Howard D. Graves Scholarship, offered by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors from the Texas Panhandle's top 26 counties. This scholarship is aimed at students planning to attend a Texas A&M System school, with a focus on any field of study. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 both to qualify and while enrolled in college, ensuring they are committed to their academic success.

The Ed and Judy Grabber Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund, managed by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports graduating high school seniors from the top 26 counties of the Texas Panhandle who plan to major in Agriculture or Education. Eligible applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and can attend any institution, with a requirement to maintain a GPA of 2.5 in college. This scholarship aims to foster educational success in vital fields.

The Teresa Engler Raizen Scholarship Fund, managed by the Amarillo Area Foundation, supports Cactus Feeders and Spike Box Ranch employees, their spouses, or children who are pursuing higher education as upper-level undergraduates or graduate students. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and enroll in at least 6 credit hours for graduate studies or 12 for undergraduate studies each semester. This fund aims to empower individuals in the Texas Panhandle community.

Community Foundation of West Texas

Established in 1981, the Lubbock Area Foundation changed its name to the Community Foundation of West Texas in September 2015. The Foundation is one of more than 700 community foundations in the United States today. We serve the following counties that make up the Texas South Plains area, Bailey, Cochran, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Terry, and Yoakum by offering people a variety of ways to touch their community through philanthropic giving.

Scholarships

The Community Foundation of West Texas is proud to award over 100 scholarships to South Plains area students each year. We work closely with the groups or individuals who have so graciously established scholarship funds to help out their community. We believe in creating a lasting impact in a student's life that they will cherish forever. Helping South Plains students today creates a stronger future for them tomorrow and beyond. 

James & Bernice Braxton Music & Elementary Education Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Thomas Braxton and his sister Ruby Braxton in memory of their parents, James and Bernice Braxton. James and Bernice were educators in the Lubbock ISD for almost 30 years. This scholarship is open to graduating seniors of a Lubbock County high school and plans to major in Music or Elementary Education at a Texas college or University.

The Anna, Pierre, and Ephraim Block Scholarship Fund, managed by the San Antonio Area Foundation, supports Texas residents who are current high school seniors. This renewable scholarship covers tuition, fees, and educational expenses for students pursuing an Associate, Bachelor's, or Graduate degree. To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate financial need and maintain full-time enrollment with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Special consideration is given to those attending Texas colleges.

Tax-exempt nonprofits, schools, and community projects in Texas can receive funding to advance education, youth development, and community welfare initiatives. Young Family Foundation provides support for projects within the YK Communications service area that show strong potential for positive impact, including programs that may help teachers and schools enhance educational opportunities and student success.

The 2025-2026 Career and Technical Education (CTE) ESC Leadership Application aims to enhance professional development for school systems, enabling the creation of high-quality CTE programs and work-based learning opportunities. Key goals include providing comprehensive support for CTE programs in grades 5 and above, ensuring compliance with Texas Education Code, and facilitating communication between the Texas Education Agency and school districts to promote statewide initiatives.

The Texas Regional Pathways Network Cohort 6 Grant, administered by the Texas Education Agency, aims to enhance career and education pathways tailored to meet regional labor market demands. By assembling a dedicated team led by a pathways facilitator, the grant seeks to implement effective activities and interventions that align with employer needs in targeted industries, thereby supporting students in navigating their career pathways successfully. This initiative is crucial for fostering workforce readiness in Texas.

Humanities Texas offers Mini Grants to support public humanities programs, enhancing educational quality in Texas. These grants, available on a rolling basis, fund projects that engage communities through lectures, exhibitions, and workshops. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations or governmental entities and need a DUNS number. The program emphasizes collaboration with humanities scholars to ensure projects are rooted in inquiry and accessible to diverse audiences. This initiative not only fosters lifelong learning but also strengthens the cultural and civic fabric of Texas.
