The Saunders family is excited to offer this scholarship opportunity to all residents of Nelson County, as well as the employees of Saunders Brothers, Inc., and their children and grandchildren.

Description

Established to provide educational scholarship assistance to high school seniors who are Nelson County residents and/or Saunders Brothers, Inc. employees and/or their family members. Candidates for the Scholarship must have demonstrated a desire and passion to pursue higher education. 

The AAF Dallas Foundation Scholarship Fund offers up to $2,000 in one-year scholarships for current college students pursuing degrees in advertising and marketing. Established in 1953 by the Communities Foundation of Texas, this fund supports eligible students classified as sophomores, juniors, or graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA from specific Texas counties. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or documented residents, ensuring accessibility for those committed to their academic and professional futures.

Roxanne Harsh Staufer Memorial Scholarship

Roxanne Harsh Staufer graduated from Fort Defiance High School in 1967. She attended Bridgewater College for two years before transferring to and graduating from Manchester College.

Description

The Roxanne Harsh Staufer Memorial Scholarship was established to provide funds for educational scholarships to Augusta County residents of any age, with preference given to applicants pursuing a degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education.

Scholarship Opportunities

Rugeley Scholarship Fund

The Rugeley Scholarship endowment was established in 2019 by Dr. and Mrs. Robert Rugeley, longtime residents of Wichita Falls. As an oral surgeon and registered nurse, Dr. and Mrs. Rugeley experienced the benefits of higher education and being able to obtain that education with the least amount of debt. Dr. Rugeley was a guest lecturer in the Dental Hygiene School and a foundational board member of the pre-med committee at MSU spanning 4 decades. Seeing the solid foundation that can be obtained at MSU, their hope is for students to be able to realize their dreams because of their time at MSU, and return to perpetuate the dreams of future students.

This renewable scholarship of up to $3,000 is for graduating seniors of any high school in Wichita County, attending Midwestern State University, with a 3.5 GPA and in the top 15% of their class.

Peter Veglahn Memorial Scholarship

The Peter Veglahn Memorial Scholarship serves as a memorial to Peter “Pete” Veglahn who was a long time member of the Shenandoah Valley Society for Human Resource Management (SVSHRM) and a member of the Virginia SHRM State Council. Through Pete’s work on behalf of SHRM and his career as a professor at James Madison University, he made many positive contributions to the advancement of the human resource profession.

Description

The Peter Veglahn Memorial Scholarship was established to provide funds for college scholarships to college students pursuing a career in human resources. The successful candidate must reside or attend school in the SVSHRM membership area of Shenandoah, Rockingham, Page and Augusta Counties, including the cities within those Virginia counties.

The Jeffris Heartland Fund Grant, provided by the Jeffris Family Foundation, supports significant historic preservation projects across several Midwestern states, including Iowa and Wisconsin. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, covering 50% of costs for Historic Structure Reports, requiring a dollar-for-dollar match. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and government agencies, focusing on projects with historical significance, architectural merit, and strong community ties. Applications are accepted anytime, with decisions made approximately 30 days after submission.

The General James H. Doolittle Scholarship, administered by the Communities Foundation of Texas, offers scholarships up to $5,000 for college juniors, seniors, or graduate students majoring in aerospace science, aeronautical engineering, or related fields. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.75 and have completed at least 52 college credit hours. This scholarship opportunity aims to support the educational aspirations of students pursuing careers in the aerospace industry.

Henry and Carolyn Obaugh Memorial Scholarship

Henry and Carolyn Smith Obaugh were long-time members of First Baptist Church of Staunton, and their lives were deeply rooted in Christian faith and service. In their memory, their son, Dean Obaugh, established this scholarship to honor their enduring commitment to a life of spiritual purpose and community involvement.

The Henry and Carolyn Obaugh Memorial Scholarship supports individuals of any age who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies with the intent to pursue vocational ministry, either full-time or part-time.

Our scholarships support students of all ages (high school seniors, current college students, and adults returning to school) residing in Staunton, Waynesboro, and the counties of Augusta, Highland, and Nelson. 

Community Scholarship of Excellence

The Community Scholarship for Excellence was established in 1998 to provide funds for college scholarships to outstanding seniors attending high schools both public and private in Staunton, Waynesboro, and Augusta County.

The criteria for the Community Scholarship for Excellence will be based upon merit only. Merit will be based upon the individual’s scholastic achievement, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement and leadership during high school. This scholarship is extremely competitive. 

The Spay/Neuter Grants program, funded by Washington State's SPAY ~ NEUTER ~ ADOPT license plates, aims to combat pet overpopulation. Since 2007, it has awarded over $615,000 to animal welfare organizations, facilitating nearly 20,500 spay and neuter surgeries for pets in need. Eligible nonprofit organizations must meet specific criteria, ensuring humane treatment and adherence to regulations. This initiative contributes significantly to creating a healthier, more sustainable pet population across Washington.

The CMAB Public Art Grant Program supports the creation of impactful public art projects that are accessible to everyone at no cost. It encourages artists to engage with the community, fostering cultural identity and artistic growth. Applicants must secure at least 25% matching funds, with no cap on funding requests, although resources are limited. This initiative aims to enrich regional culture and enhance public spaces through both permanent and temporary art installations.

The Gigi and Louise Gartner Scholarship provides scholarships of up to $10,000 for high school seniors and college students from Dallas County, TX. Applicants must pursue degrees in holistic medicine or related fields, maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and be U.S. citizens or legal residents. This initiative, supported by the Communities Foundation of Texas, aims to empower students in their educational journeys and promote careers in integrative health and wellness.

The Lawrence "Larry" Cole Memorial Scholarship, established in partnership with Communities Foundation of Texas, offers annual scholarships up to $6,000 for Texas students pursuing degrees in machining or manufacturing fields. Eligible candidates include graduating high school seniors, current college students, and adult learners who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0. This scholarship aims to support individuals committed to advancing their education in these essential technology sectors.

Greene County Foundation

Founded as a public charity in 1997, the Greene County Foundation is a vital and sustainable organization that serves the Greene County community. A volunteer Board of Directors, whose makeup reflects the diversity of the communities it serves, governs the Foundation. The Foundation annually awards over a quarter million dollars in grants through fund payouts, competitive grants, and student scholarships and has made an impact in every school, town, city, and informal community in Greene County.

Faith Christian Scholarship

The Faith Christian Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors who attended any Greene County high school at the time of graduation; it is also open to home-schooled students who are graduating. Applicants must be planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited post-secondary institution in Indiana. The Faith Christian Scholarship is a donor-advised scholarship established by the deacons of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield as a result of a bequeath by Francis Gainey. Ms. Gainey understood the importance of education and wanted to help students attend college, who might not otherwise have the family support or means to attend. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years, based on academic performance. Students will need to show proof of their academic progress each spring semester to be considered for scholarship renewal.

The CHCF Innovation Fund Grant aims to enhance healthcare access and quality for Californians by investing in early- to growth-stage companies. It focuses on technologies developed by diverse founders who understand community challenges, particularly in California's Medicaid ecosystem. The fund seeks partners committed to improving care quality, reducing costs, and ensuring access for low-income populations. The CMAB/McKnight Individual Artist Award offers up to seven grants of $5,000 each to exceptional artists residing in Benton, Sherburne, Stearns, or Wright counties in Minnesota. This program aims to recognize and support artists at various career stages, providing them with financial assistance to further their creative endeavors. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and have lived in the designated counties for at least six months.

The Transformational Partnerships Fund offers catalytic grants of up to $100,000 to support partnerships among degree-granting institutions, focusing on student-centered solutions. These grants aim to explore innovative collaborations that enhance stability and success for students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. Eligible institutions must demonstrate a commitment to transformational partnerships, with priority given to those serving diverse populations and improving educational outcomes. The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) Fund, established by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, aims to support initiatives that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion across five counties and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Grants of up to $2,500 are available for organizations led by marginalized communities, including people of color and LGBTQ+ individuals. Priority is given to projects promoting awareness, education, and equitable access to resources, fostering a more inclusive future.

The Jim Tompkins Endowment, established by the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation in 2018, aims to support youth in Traverse City through grants for programs and projects. This initiative is part of a broader mission to enhance community welfare across various sectors, including education and health services. Since its inception, the Foundation has awarded over $69 million in grants, fostering lasting impacts for local youth and the community.

Dr. A.I. Slagle Medical Educational Scholarship

The Dr. A.I. Slagle Medical Education Scholarship is for students entering their first year at an accredited medical school in the US to obtain an MD or DO. This is a 4-year renewable scholarship if the student remains in satisfactory academic standing.

• May be renewable up to 4 years - must reapply each year in order to be eligible
• Approximately $72,800 available (which may be split into multiple awards)

The Greystar Scholars Fund, managed by Communities Foundation of Texas, offers scholarships up to $5,000 for high school seniors and college students who are dependents of Greystar team members. Eligible applicants must maintain a GPA of 3.0 and be pursuing a degree at accredited institutions in the U.S. Notably, dependents of high-ranking executives are excluded from eligibility. This initiative aims to support education and empower families within the Greystar community.

Jones Metal Products Company Adult Legacy Scholarship

Scholarship will be awarded to adults (minimum age of 21) who are residents of Coshocton County, Ohio, who desire to advance their education and/or training at COTC Coshocton Campus by pursing a two-year degree or certificate.

Kenneth Berry Memorial Adult Scholarship

Scholarship grants will be awarded to adults (minimum age of 21) who are residents of Coshocton County, Ohio, who desire to advance their education and/or training at a two or four-year degree or certificate-granting school.The award is $1,000.00 and is renewable for a second year.

Scholarship grants will be awarded to adults (minimum age of 21) who are residents of Coshocton County, Ohio, who desire to advance their education and/or training at a two- or four-year degree-or certificate-granting school.

Ruth Schooler Memorial Adult ScholarshipScholarship grants will be awarded to adults (minimum age of 21) who are residents of the area in and around the Village of Frazeyburg, Ohio, who desire education and training for career or advancement in a career in business, nonprofit organizations or government as an executive, administrative or personal assistant; executive secretary, business or office manager, operations manager, chief of staff, clerical assistance, operations manager, information manager or similar position.

In order to qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria and submit the following:

• Proposed curriculum and plan of study in one or a combined of two or more education institutions and degree(s) sough if any;
• Career plan, including objectives, description of positions(s) sought;
• Evidence of a commitment, intention and abilities to complete the chose course of study and succeed in the planned career and; information about financial needs, if any.

Teacher Mini-Grants allow K-12 teachers to pursue innovative ideas outside the scope of school budgets. All grants are geared towards encouraging the design of innovative projects, activities or events in any academic subject to impact any segment of the school and may be used for supplies, equipment or any other expense related to a special project. 

Teacher Mini-Grants are available for all academic areas.

• Ashland City Schools Foundation teacher mini-grants are awarded only to Ashland City Schools teachers grades K-12. Maximum grant is $2,000.

• Ashland County Community Foundation teacher mini-grants are awarded to teachers grades K-12 in all accredited Ashland County public and private schools. Maximum grant is $2,000.

The Flick Emergency Medical Fund, established by Kevin and Mindy Flick, provides financial relief for families facing medical emergencies or crises. Grants assist with medical, living, and utility expenses, promoting support from faith-based organizations. Priority is given to Monroe County applicants from the Evangelical Community Church and families with dependent children. This initiative reflects the impact of community support during difficult times, helping individuals regain stability and quality of life.
