The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Open Access Publishing Fund Grant supports research that enhances animal welfare. This grant covers article processing fees for open access, peer-reviewed publications up to $5,000. Eligible applicants include U.S. citizens, residents, and researchers in animal welfare. The fund prioritizes submissions in areas such as cruelty prevention, animal sheltering, and veterinary care access, promoting impactful and innovative research.

The scholarships we award vary each year based on the unique criteria of each scholarship. In 2025, we awarded over $3 million in scholarships to over 500 students, including $1.3 million to 110 students in western NC through our Disaster Relief and Resilience Scholarship.

The McBryde Scholarship Endowment

Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic performance, character and demonstrated need. Consideration also may be given for extra-curricular activities and service to others.

Depending on the scholarship, it may pay for tuition, room and board, books, fees and/or other related educational expenses. This will be outlined in your award notification. The minimum scholarship award amount is $1,000.

NCCF scholarship awards are only issued to not-for-profit institutions and government entities such as public colleges or universities.

The HOME Investment Partnership Program, administered by the City of Indianapolis' Department of Metropolitan Development, provides federal funding to support the development of affordable housing for low-income individuals. It focuses on building, rehabilitating, and purchasing housing, as well as tenant-based rental assistance. Funding is awarded to partner organizations competitively, ensuring that resources effectively address local housing needs. For funding inquiries, individuals must contact designated partner organizations directly.

Ralph Edwin and Ruby Irene Holloman Davis Scholarship Endowment

Applicants are graduating seniors from high schools in Johnston County who are continuing their education at a college, university, community or junior college, technical school, nursing school, or other post-high school training leading to a degree or associate degree, with preference to those who have financial need.

Helen Tomlinson Hobart Scholarship Endowment

Graduates of a public high school in Johnston County with plans to attend an accredited university or community college with a career objective to become a public-school teacher. “Public high school” does not include schools that are considered or classified as charter schools.

The Bennie & Martha Benjamin Foundation offers a Medical/Health Equipment Grant aimed at supporting hospitals, public health clinics, and non-profit service providers in the Virgin Islands. Established in 1991, the Foundation seeks to fulfill unmet health equipment needs through grants. Eligible organizations must demonstrate financial solvency and provide a history of successful health service delivery. The Foundation encourages partnerships with NGOs and aims to improve health care services in the Territory.

The B.A.A. Gives Back Grant Program, established by the Boston Athletic Association, supports nonprofit organizations in Massachusetts that promote health and fitness through running. Grants ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 are awarded annually to initiatives that enhance community engagement and wellness. Eligible organizations must be 501(c)(3) registered or public agencies and align with the B.A.A.’s mission to foster healthy lifestyles. This initiative plays a crucial role in expanding access to sports and building vibrant communities across Greater Boston.

The Jon Grove Memorial Scholarship, valued at $2,500, supports Howard County Public High School seniors whose lives have been affected by cancer. Offered by the Community Foundation of Howard County, this scholarship encourages students with a minimum 2.0 GPA to pursue further education at a college, university, or trade school. It aims to recognize and assist those who have demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, fostering hope and opportunity for impacted families.

The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) Veterinary Pharmacology Fellowship Grant supports graduate students pursuing careers in veterinary pharmacology research. Funded in collaboration with the Veterinary Pharmacology Research Foundation, this grant offers up to $10,000 for a one-year fellowship. It covers expenses related to training, professional travel, stipends, and scholarly activities, aiming to enhance the number and quality of skilled researchers in the field.

The American Urological Association offers Medical Student Fellowships to enhance urological research. This program allows exceptional medical students to engage in mentored research with leading urologic scientists, receiving a stipend of $4,000. The initiative aims to cultivate the next generation of urologic researchers. Importantly, research projects no longer require a full 10-week commitment during summer, providing greater flexibility for participants. This fellowship is a significant opportunity for young investigators to contribute to advancements in urological care.

The American Urological Association's Residency Research Award supports urology residents in their research training, aimed at fostering future leaders in urologic research. Each award provides $10,000 for essential research supplies and resources for projects lasting 3-12 months. Recipients must dedicate 80% of their time to research during this period, ensuring they build a strong foundation for their research careers.

The PLTW Launch program, funded by the Arthur Blanchard Charitable Trust, aims to enhance access to STEM education for K-12 students in Massachusetts. Grants are available for under-resourced schools to implement or expand PLTW programs, covering expenses like training and necessary materials. This initiative not only supports educational growth but also empowers teachers and students, fostering a stronger foundation in science and technology. Schools can apply to benefit from this valuable resource for educational enhancement.

The Arthur Blanchard Charitable Trust collaborates with PLTW to enhance the accessibility of PLTW Gateway programs for K-12 students in Massachusetts. Grants are intended for the implementation or expansion of these programs in under-resourced schools, covering costs related to launching or expanding PLTW initiatives. Eligible applicants include public and charter schools in Massachusetts, and the grants support various allowable expenses, ensuring equitable access to quality education.

Bob and Valerie Valaas Health Sciences Scholarship

Bob and Valerie Valaas recognized the need for well-trained medical personnel in the Wenatchee Valley. Bob served on the Central Washington Hospital board of directors for many years, as had his father before him. They also had several children and grandchildren who served the medical community in a variety of roles including physicians, nurses, and radiology technicians. In 2007, Valerie established a scholarship fund at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington to benefit students entering the Allied Health program at Wenatchee Valley College.

Cascade and Chelan School Districts ELL Scholarship

The Cascade and Chelan School Districts ELL (English as a second language) Scholarship provides financial support for students who have passed the Washington Language Proficiency Test (WLPT) and are pursuing further education.

Cathryn "Kate" George Frechen Scholarship

The Cathryn “Kate” Goerge Frechen Scholarship Fund was established in 1999 by Kay Sparks, niece of Cathryn “Kate” Goerge Frechen in her aunt’s memory. This scholarship supports graduating seniors from Pewamo-Westphalia Community Schools seeking further education in an accredited educational program in the US. The committee seeks to award a promising student who demonstrates financial need and potential scholastic ability (not necessarily demonstrated solely by grades).

The Limited Competition grant supports High Impact Specialized Innovation Programs to enhance clinical and translational science capabilities at UM1 CTSA Program Hubs. Eligible applicants include primary UM1 CTSA hub organizations, aiming to address significant gaps in research and development. Successful proposals will foster foundational innovations for broader dissemination among CTSA hubs, paving the way for future advancements in clinical practices and research methodologies.

Bob and Nita Paine Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Paine Family in 2012 to support graduating seniors from Wenatchee or Eastmont High Schools who plan to attend Washington State University. The ideal candidate is an engaging individual with capable communication skills who has been, and continues to be, involved in school activities and the community, and who demonstrates financial need..

The Biomedical Research Environment and Sponsored Programs Administration Development (BRE-SPAD) Program, funded by the NIH, aims to enhance the biomedical research landscape by supporting resource-limited organizations. It targets domestic institutions with limited research resources and few doctoral students in biomedical fields, promoting broader participation in research and boosting administrative capacities for sponsored programs. Applications are due by 5:00 PM local time of the applicant organization, ensuring timely submissions.

The Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation invites applications for the RFP- Improving Instructional Quality in Hawaii’s Independent Preschools. This initiative seeks to enhance early education quality through adherence to NAEYC standards, focusing on relationships, curriculum, teaching, and assessment. Established by generous donations, this fund assists eligible veterans, including those enrolled in local colleges, with housing, utilities, medical costs, and textbooks. Applicants must meet specific criteria, including residency and service requirements, to qualify for this one-time grant. The PLTW Launch - New Program grant, provided by the EQT Foundation, aims to support schools in implementing PLTW Launch programs for the upcoming academic year. Eligible public and charter schools in Greene and Fayette Counties, PA, and Marshall and Wetzel Counties, WV, can apply for funding to cover participation fees, required technology, and necessary training expenses. This initiative will enhance STEM education and prepare students for future careers.

The EQT Foundation offers the PLTW Launch grant to support schools in expanding their existing PLTW Launch programs. Eligible schools must actively participate in PLTW Launch and can utilize the funds for program enhancements, such as adding new modules or training more teachers. This initiative aims to enhance educational opportunities in STEM for students in specific counties of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, ensuring broader access to innovative learning.

The Excellence in Medicine Awards, presented by the AMA Foundation, honor exemplary physicians and medical advocates committed to volunteerism, community engagement, and leadership. Since 2005, this prestigious program has celebrated over 100 honorees, recognizing their vital contributions to underserved populations. Awardees receive a $2,500 grant honorarium to support a nonprofit health organization of their choice, collectively awarding over $250,000 to enhance community health and promote equitable care across the nation.
