Tim Akers Memorial Scholarship Fund

A scholarship fund in memory of Tim Akers to support post-secondary education opportunities for Alaska Native students in the field of technology, education, or engineering.

The Tim Akers Memorial Scholarship supports outstanding Alaskan students in the pursuit of technology education and/or training. Tim Akers played an influential role in the development and production of the Prudhoe Bay Oilfield. Mr. Akers served as a mentor and role model for many young Alaskans with little or no experience working on the North Slope. His guidance helped to establish a solid core of exceptional Alaskan talent in the Prudhoe Bay workforce. Mr. Akers also served as President of the Chuloonawick Native Corporation.

The Scholarship Program

The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers over 160 scholarships. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds.

• Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, fees, room and board, and other items included as part of the cost for attending the institution. 
• Most scholarships are for students who live in Franklin, Hampshire, and Hampden Counties. However, some are also available to students who live in Berkshire County and Hartford County in Connecticut.
• We offer scholarships to those who attend on either a full-time or part-time basis. 
• Any student who plans to enroll for the upcoming fall semester, in any year of college as an undergraduate or graduate student and who will attend an accredited post-secondary school in the United States may apply.
• Scholarships are provided for one academic year and are not automatically renewed each year. You can reapply to our program every year you are going to attend college, and the application you submit that year will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

Ruth L. Brocklebank Memorial Scholarship Fund

Supporting African American graduates of Springfield high schools.

The Industrial and Management Engineering Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree in this field. Established as part of the institution's commitment to education and community transformation, this scholarship is available to full-time students. MSU, founded in 1893, continues to provide access to impactful educational opportunities. Eligible applicants can benefit from this scholarship, enhancing their academic and professional journey in engineering.

The PBnJ Youth Philanthropy Board in Jackson County offers grants to empower youth-serving organizations. These grants aim to support programs that foster leadership and essential life skills in young people. Eligible organizations include 501(C)(3) nonprofits, schools, and community groups with a fiscal sponsor, ensuring they operate without discrimination. Applications open from January 15 to February 28, with presentations scheduled for March 10. This initiative aligns with priorities such as STEM, healthy living, and civic engagement.

The Pittsburgh Foundation

Established in 1945, The Pittsburgh Foundation is one of the nation’s oldest community foundations and as of 2022 is the 18th largest of more than 750 similar foundations across the United States.

As a community foundation, its resources comprise endowment funds established by individuals, businesses and organizations with a passion for charitable giving and fulfilling the Foundation’s mission of improving quality of life for all in the region. The Foundation currently manages about 2,500 individual donor funds and, together with its supporting organizations and its affiliate, The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, has assets of $1.386 billion (2022). Grantmaking benefits a broad spectrum of basic needs and development opportunities within Pittsburgh and beyond.

Scholarships

The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County provide scholarship opportunities for local students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors, undergraduates, graduate, medical and professional school students who are attending community colleges, four-year universities and career/technical schools.

Westmoreland Education Fund

The Westmoreland Education Fund was created at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County to provide scholarships to traditional and non-traditional students who reside in Westmoreland County.

Valley Community Foundation

Valley Community Foundation's mission is to inspire philanthropic growth, provide and foster leadership, engage donors, and strengthen the Valley community both now and for future generations. Its vision is a vibrant inclusive Valley that is thriving, collaborative, generous, with a shared sense of community and opportunity.

Valley Needs and Opportunities Grants

It has been the policy of the Valley Community Foundation to make grants in a range from $250 to $10,000 to contribute to and support innovative programs and the urgent needs of our local nonprofits serving the towns of Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and/or Shelton, Connecticut.

About Wavemaker Grants

WaveMaker at Locust Projects supports Miami’s visionary artists with INCUBATOR grants for innovative PROJECTS that  are shared with the public in Unconventional Spaces.

All projects must engage or be shared with the public in unconventional spaces in Miami-Dade County. This may include exhibitions, performances, events, workshops, screenings, programming at alternative or artist-run-spaces. Projects can not be presented at art museums or commercial galleries.

Criteria

All proposals will be considered based on criteria including but not limited to:

• Overall idea, vision, and artistic innovation
• Relevance to the local social, cultural, and/or geographic context
• Accessibility of the project to the public outside of a museum or gallery
• In person gatherings in free, publicly accessible spaces are an essential requirement.
• Capacity of the applicant to realize the project on time and within budget
• Potential impact on the local community, the arts and culture landscape, and/or the artist’s growth

Grant Categories:

Each year, WaveMaker at Locust Projects awards a total of $60,000 in grant funding to artists across Miami-Dade County in the following three categories:

New Work / Projects

• Grants up to $6,000 each to support the creation and presentation of visionary, artist-driven new work / projects.   

Long-Haul Projects

• Grants up to $6,000 each to support launching, sustaining, or completing long-term projects. This category recognizes the time and commitment required to pursue long-term artistic endeavors.

R&D + Implementation

• Grants up to $2,000 each to support research and development for ambitious new projects that take creative risks or benefit from a longer planning period. After the R&D phase, grantees are encouraged to submit a short-form proposal for an additional $4,000 to implement their projects.

John DiNapoli Memorial Scholarship Fund

Supporting Hampden County high school seniors; preference for residents of Holyoke.

THRIVE Grants provide up to $10,000 to support innovative, artist-led visual arts projects in Oklahoma. These grants encourage impactful initiatives that engage the community and push traditional exhibition boundaries. Projects must be open to the public and occur within the funding period. The program, in partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation, emphasizes collaboration and creativity, prioritizing new projects that have not previously received funding.

The Zach Gordon Youth Scholarship Program aims to provide financial assistance up to $300 per child annually for disabled youth under 20 years old, enabling participation in various activities. Due to Covid-19, the program has expanded funding to include necessary supplies for healthy engagement. Applications must be submitted during the designated registration period, and recipients are notified by Parks & Recreation to ensure proper usage of funds.

Agility Grants, initiated by the National Council on Problem Gambling, aim to minimize gambling-related harm through funding nonprofit organizations for innovative prevention programs. These grants focus on addressing gaps in services and enhancing existing initiatives. Eligible applicants include U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations, with priority given to projects targeting at-risk populations. The program emphasizes community impact and requires evaluations to assess effectiveness, fostering collaboration and awareness within diverse communities affected by gambling.

The Virginia Agricultural BMP Cost-Share (VACS) Program offers financial assistance for conservation practices on agricultural lands, significantly reducing landowner expenses. Eligible participants can receive up to $300,000 annually to implement practices that enhance water quality and farm productivity. Applicants must apply through local soil and water conservation districts, with priority given to plans that align with local water quality guidelines. This program aims to promote sustainable agricultural practices across Virginia.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Madison County is administered by the Madison County Community Foundation.

Madison County's Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is awarded to two students, who will be provided eight semesters of full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private college or university accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

In our selection process, applications will be reviewed by a committee of community members. Reviews are completed anonymously without disclosure of student or parent identity. Each Lilly finalist who is not selected as a recipient will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Madison County Community Foundation.

The primary purposes of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program are:

to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana;

to increase awareness of the beneficial roles Indiana community foundations can play in their communities; and

to encourage and support the efforts of current and past Lilly Endowment Community Scholars to engage with each other and with Indiana business, governmental, educational, nonprofit and civic leaders to improve the quality of life in Indiana generally and in local communities throughout the state.

San Patricio/Aransas County A&H Scholarship

Purpose:

Established by San Patricio and Aransas County to encourage students to complete high school and attend college.

$4,000 over 4 years/several available

The Zach Gordon Youth Scholarship Program provides financial assistance of up to $300 per child per fiscal year to help youth participate in activities they might otherwise miss. In response to COVID-19, the program has expanded to cover essential supplies for engaging in healthy activities. Applications must be submitted during the designated registration period, and the scholarship must be used within 90 days to avoid returning funds to the general scholarship fund.

The Rocinante Scholarship, established by the family and friends of Eric Zentner, supports undergraduate single mothers at the University of Alaska Southeast. It honors Eric's legacy of helping others and is available for part-time or full-time students in any discipline. Applicants must provide a 200-300 word essay about their life journey and goals. The scholarship funds cover tuition and necessary expenses, awarded before the winter term.

The Community Foundation of Washington County, MD offers more than 100 scholarships for graduating high school students and non-traditional students in continuing education. Adna B. Fulton Family Scholarship Fund

Established by Mr. Fulton to provide scholarships to Washington County students pursuing a post-secondary education, with preference given to employees of AC&T and their children/grandchildren.

The AAUW (American Association of University Women) Hagerstown (MD) Branch created this scholarship to financially assist deserving female students living in Washington County, MD. Preference will be given to non-traditional/post-secondary students.

The Names Family Foundation, established by Scott and Sis Names in 1996, is dedicated to enhancing community health and wellness through sports and physical education. Inspired by their humble beginnings, the foundation supports nonprofit organizations that promote healthy lifestyles and athletic opportunities, primarily in the Pierce County region. Dr. Charles H. Glatfelter Scholarship Application

For any descendant of Casper Glattfelder who was the first of his family to arrive in the United States in 1743. Students are not required to be residents of Adams County, Pennsylvania. This award is open to all descendants nation wide.

The Community Arts & Culture: Performance Series Grants provide vital support for local arts organizations and performers. Offered by the City of Hillsboro, these grants allow selected groups to showcase their talents at the Walters Cultural Arts Center from October to May. Recipients benefit from production support, marketing, and ticket sales revenue, fostering growth and opportunities in the performing arts community. This initiative aims to ensure equitable access to the arts for all local performers.

The Summer Studentship offers undergraduate students the chance to engage in hands-on research experience in genetics during the summer before their final year. With a weekly allowance of £300 for up to 8 weeks and funding for laboratory expenses, participants also gain access to a student Summer School Workshop at the University of Cambridge. This program encourages diversity and welcomes applications from all individuals, fostering a supportive research environment.

Briggs Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Briggs Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to residents of Chugiak and Eagle River who demonstrate financial need.

The Briggs’s had a long affiliation with Chugiak High School and its graduates. During the early 1970’s, the Briggs family provided financial assistance to Chugiak graduates who, without their assistance, would not have had an opportunity to earn a college education. The only request attached to the “scholarship” was a Christmas card report on their progress and achievements. The intent of this scholarship is to provide assistance where there is definite financial need.

Leonard and Annette Silverman PITT Pharmacy School Fund

The Leonard and Annette Silverman University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide scholarships to students who are currently enrolled in the Doctoral program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy. The Fund is in memory of Leonard Silverman, a graduate of the School of Pharmacy in 1951.

Award Type: Single Year. Previous recipients are encouraged to re-apply in consecutive years.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation's Family Innovations Scale Grant supports grassroots projects led by parents and caregivers. This grant aims to enhance and expand initiatives that engage families, particularly those facing systemic barriers. Eligible groups must have a proven track record of delivering projects for over two years, demonstrating their commitment to improving community well-being. By providing funding, the OTF seeks to empower diverse communities, fostering stronger relationships and cultural connections among families.

The 4Culture Landmark Nomination Support Grant provides funding for individuals and organizations in King County, Washington, to prepare landmark nominations for historic sites. The program aims to promote the preservation of underrepresented aspects of local history. Grants range from $1,000 to $10,000 and are available to applicants with property owner consent. Priority is given to projects that engage diverse communities. Applications are due in 2025, with a focus on completed nominations that deliver public benefits.
