Shirley Lewis McCune Memorial Scholarship

The Shirley Lewis McCune Memorial Scholarship was established at The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County in memory/honor of Shirley Lewis McCune. Her family chose to honor Shirley, who worked for Columbia Gas for many years and was the first female District Manager for the company here in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Award Type: Single-Year award. Previous recipients are encouraged to re-apply in consecutive years provided they maintain full-time enrollment.

Eugene J. Andolsek Memorial Scholarship

Eugene Andolsek was a gifted artist who used the medium of drawing to convey his struggles and insecurities, spending hours at the kitchen table with a compass, ruler, inks and graph paper creating intricate and complex pieces of art. Unable to pursue his education at a higher level due to family circumstances, Eugene felt he was denied the opportunity to reach his potential and be valued in life. Eugene was a quiet, frugal man who spent many years of his life creating pieces of art which on the surface communicate order and uniformity, whilst giving you a glimpse of the many complexities that must have existed in Eugene’s thoughts. Art was quite simply his escape. In 2005, when Eugene was 84 years of age, his work was featured in the exhibition ‘Obsessive Art’ at the American Folk Art Museum in New York, his work garnered much critical acclaim and proved to Eugene that despite being an untrained artist he was remarkably gifted and much sought after.

The Eugene J. Andolsek Memorial Scholarship is a lasting tribute to a man who valued education above most other things. From the proceeds of Eugene’s vast portfolio this memorial scholarship will enable a young student to continue their education in a way he was never able to. This scholarship has significant value and is renewable for up to 4 years of post secondary education.

The PDF Travel Award to the Annual CSZ Meeting is designed to support post-doctoral fellows in attending the Canadian Society of Zoologists' Annual Meeting. Paul J. Falco Scholarship

The Paul J. Falco Scholarship provides a scholarship opportunity to high school level students from the Village of Marble Cliff who demonstrate outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities. The late Paul J. Falco, who served as Mayor of the Village for 36 years, was an ardent supporter of the Village, its residents, and the pursuit of life-long learning. The generosity of this endowment by Mayor Falco and his wife Bobbie Hall Falco provides the opportunity to recognize the talented youth of the Village of Marble Cliff. In its 20 years of existence the Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to residents of the Village of Marble Cliff.

The Western History Association/Huntington Library Martin Ridge Fellowship offers a $3500, one-month research opportunity at The Huntington Library. Established in honor of Martin Ridge, it supports scholars with a Ph.D. or those at the dissertation stage. The fellowship encourages exploration of western history topics, utilizing specific materials from the library's collections. Recipients are expected to reside continuously at the library during the fellowship, fostering academic collaboration and public education on the diverse histories of the North American West.

The Indian Student Conference Scholarship offers two annual awards of $500 each to Native American students pursuing undergraduate, M.A., or Ph.D. degrees. The Hennepin County Healthy Tree Canopy Grant supports community efforts to protect, restore, and strengthen urban and community tree canopies while engaging residents in tree stewardship. The program assists eligible recipients with planning and managing threats from invasive insects and diseases (such as emerald ash borer and Asian long-horned beetle), implementing tree care activities including planting and pruning, and increasing tree diversity.Grant goals also include educating students and community members about the importance of trees and mobilizing action to protect them, as well as building a more diverse and climate-resilient canopy by introducing well-adapted species. The Thomas M. Colella & Florence M. Colella Scholarship Fund was created at The Pittsburgh Foundation to provide a full tuition, multi-year scholarship for a student from Western Pennsylvania, specifically for a student entering Grove City college for undergraduate studies. The award is a “last-dollar award,” which means the funding released each year will take into account any additional public funding, grants or scholarships for which the student is eligible in that given year.

Award Type: Multi-Year (up to 4 years). Recipients must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and degree enrollment at Grove City College.

The David Center for the American Revolution offers a nine-month residential postdoctoral fellowship for graduate students focusing on the American Revolution and Founding Era (1750-1800). Phyllis Toby Genszler Memorial Scholarship

The Phyllis Toby Genszler Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at The Pittsburgh Foundation in memory/honor of Phyllis Toby Genszler. Phyllis was a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University and spent her 40-year professional career working in various computer-related roles at PPG until she retired. She was passionate about helping others along their life journey which is why her husband Jack Philips established this scholarship to honor her legacy and provide awards to students who may not be at the top of their class but still show great potential.

Award Type: Multi-year award for up to two years. Recipients may be enrolled full time or part time.

The John J. and Martha A. Hucko Scholarship fund was created to provide scholarships for graduating seniors in good standing from Allegheny, Washington or Westmoreland counties who will attend Duquesne University.
