Methodist Foundation of Mississippi 

The Methodist Foundation of Mississippi was founded in 1967 to provide financial resources and expertise to Wesleyan churches and missions. Since then, we have served nearly 1,110 organizations and 3,500 accounts, while growing the collective investment portfolio to $180 million. This benchmark means more than financial success. It opens the door to a level of opportunity and security not usually available to individual churches and charities.

Thanks to this position, the Foundation is able to offer both short and long-term investment products for churches to maximize returns with greater freedom and lower fees (or no fees) than typical banks or investment firms.

Scholarships We Offer

The Foundation seeks to provide Mississippi Methodist/Wesleyan Heritage students a financial boost to further their educational goals. Our scholarship committee awards scholarships from generous donors and endowments. Eligible students must be Mississippi residents, active in a United Methodist/Wesleyan Heritage congregation or Wesley Foundation in Mississippi. Non-seminary graduate & undergraduate students are eligible for up to four(4) scholarship awards.

College Scholarship 

To be considered for a scholarship through the Methodist Foundation of Mississippi, applicants must meet at least one of the eligibility criteria listed below and submit all required documentation.

All college applicants must submit a Pastor Certification Form signed by a pastor from one of the eligible churches or ministries listed below.

The Early Career Conference Grants support emerging researchers at ACU member universities, providing up to GBP 2,000 to attend conferences in Commonwealth countries. This funding covers essential expenses such as registration fees, flights, accommodation, visa costs, and health insurance. These grants aim to enhance professional development, foster networking opportunities, and facilitate knowledge sharing among early career academics. Eligible applicants must be within 7 years of starting their academic careers and actively participate in the conference.

The grant must be used for children’s educational programming. 

The Climate Smart Agriculture Program (CSAP) facilitates a streamlined application process by merging various grant categories, including Food Safety, Environmental, and Energy. This initiative aims to enhance climate resilience among farmers, promote renewable energy, and improve food safety practices. By simplifying access to funding, the program empowers agricultural operations to adopt sustainable practices, thereby safeguarding natural resources and boosting economic resilience within the farming community.

The Kiwanis Club of Marietta has proudly established and contributed to several scholarship endowments over the years to support deserving college students in our community. These scholarships are made possible through our club's Flag Project, which places over 1,300 American flags in front of homes and businesses five times each year.

Turner-Howard Scholarship

This is a memorial scholarship established in 1988 by Mr. and Mrs. James L. Howard in memory of their late mothers, Mary Miller Turner and Ellie Morris Howard. 

This undergraduate or graduate scholarship is available to a student who is entering or attending an accredited college or university AND who is either a staff member of the Cobb County Schools or the Marietta City Schools or who is a dependent of such a staff member. Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement and character.

The Valley Community Grants Program offers funding ranging from $250 to $2,500 to volunteer and nonprofit groups serving Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour, and Shelton. These grants support new or recurring civic and community engagement programs, with a total budget of up to $30,000. Eligible organizations must have limited staff and demonstrate a commitment to non-discrimination in their operations. The program encourages community-driven initiatives that enhance local engagement.

This scholarship was established in 2024 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation and created to encourage applicants entering occupations in the skilled trades. 

The scholarship may cover tuition or recognized associated educational needs, with funds still dispensed through the program or school.

This is a memorial scholarship established in 1993 by the Marietta Kiwanis Foundation. 

Selection emphasis will be placed on academic achievement with priority given to current or former Cobb or Marietta students.

Funded through local fundraising events, this grant aims to address basic needs, particularly for children. With no fixed grant amounts, typical awards are around $2,500, and applicants can reapply annually, ensuring ongoing assistance for those in need in the greater Portsmouth area.

The Rotary Club of Portsmouth's Helping Professions Grant provides essential financial support to residents of the Seacoast looking to enter or advance in direct care professions. With scholarships and grants of up to $5,000, this initiative aims to address the growing shortage of skilled caregivers, ensuring quality care for families and individuals in the community. Eligible applicants can pursue training in various in-demand roles, enhancing their skills and career prospects.

Selkirk Pickleball Growth Program

At Selkirk, we are committed to growing the sport of pickleball by making it accessible to everyone. The Selkirk Growth Program enables schools and community programs worldwide to access Selkirk equipment.

Our original goal was to give away 3,000+ paddles a year; we have now given away more than 40,000 paddles since we started in 2019. As part of our Growth Program, we are donating gently-used paddles to:

Schools.

• First responders.
• Senior centers.
• Churches.
• Parks & recreation departments.
• Other community organizations looking to expand their programs.

We will also provide a discount on additional paddles, balls, and nets for schools and charities involved in the program.

Youth Empowered Philanthropy (YEP) is a transformative program offered by the Community Foundation that teaches students in grades 10-12 about charitable giving. By empowering youth to make impactful decisions with real funding, YEP fosters a vibrant community in Allen County. Participants learn about nonprofit organizations, grantmaking, and develop essential skills like public speaking and critical thinking. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, and applications are reviewed by YEP members, ensuring youth engagement in philanthropy.

Carolyn L. Ballard & Beverly J. Schoch Scholarship

Graduating senior from a high school within the Community Foundation’s primary service area.

The Keep Maryland Beautiful Grant Program, led by the Maryland Environmental Trust and partners, offers Community Stewardship Grants of up to $5,000. These grants focus on empowering schools and nonprofits to engage community members, particularly youth, in environmental education and stewardship. By fostering citizen involvement and innovative solutions, the program aims to address local environmental issues, promote awareness, and enhance community well-being through hands-on projects.

Shasta Health Rock Stars Scholarship Fund

The Shasta Health Rock Stars Scholarship Fund benefits and supports students who are actively pursuing a career in health and are currently enrolled in college or graduate programs. Health is broadly interpreted as the fields of medical, dental, behavioral health, addiction treatment services or public health. An ideal applicant will have an interest in staying in or returning to Shasta County after program completion to work in a health career supporting the medically underserved.

The Women in Philanthropy Grants, awarded by the Madison County Community Foundation, support nonprofit projects that benefit women and children in Madison County. Established in 2005, this initiative fosters collaboration among women philanthropists and has grown its endowment fund to over $175,000. Participation is open to all women in the county who wish to enhance the quality of life for women and children. Finalists must attend a luncheon on April 11 to celebrate impactful grantmaking.

The Planning and Service Grants to Area Agencies on Aging provide essential funding for community-based services for older adults in Illinois. These grants support initiatives addressing social isolation, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia-friendly programs. Eligible applicants include government and nonprofit organizations that serve aging populations. By facilitating access to vital resources, these grants aim to enhance the quality of life for seniors statewide, ensuring they receive the support and services they need.

The Doris Betts Fiction Prize, administered by the North Carolina Writers’ Network, fosters literary talent by awarding a $250 prize and publication in the North Carolina Literary Review. Open to legal residents of North Carolina and members of the Network, it encourages previously unpublished short stories up to 6,000 words. Finalists also receive consideration for publication and monetary awards ranging from $50 to $150. This initiative highlights the importance of writing in nurturing community and civic discourse.

Adam E. Huelskamp Scholarship

A college student who resides in school districts in Shelby, Auglaize or Mercer County, Ohio.

Selection based upon:

Demonstrated community and school service, financial need, employment history, and an additional essay of no less than 100 words and no more than 200 words on a designated topic.

The Golden Trowel Award, presented by the Archaeological Institute of America, recognizes the local society with the highest proportional membership increase over the past year. This prestigious award highlights the vital role that local societies play in promoting archaeology and supporting the AIA's mission. By fostering community engagement and growth, the award encourages societies to enhance their programs and initiatives, ultimately enriching the field of archaeology.

The CFGM: Muscatine Health Support Fund Grant aims to enhance community health by supporting projects that improve the health care system in Muscatine and its surrounding areas. This grant encourages the development and maintenance of health initiatives that address local needs and foster growth in health care services.

The Helen & Howard R. Marraro Prize in Italian History, awarded annually by the American Historical Association, honors exceptional works in Italian history, cultural history, or Italo-American relations. Established in 1897, this prestigious award recognizes books published in English by North American historians. Currently valued at $1,000, submissions for the 2025 award must have a copyright of 2024. Winners will be announced in October 2025, with a ceremony at the January 2026 AHA annual meeting in Chicago.

Top of the State Scholarship Endowment Fund

Two different application opportunities available to 1) college or university bound Shasta & Tehama county high school students who have played golf in high school or junior golf programs and 2) previous award recipients from this fund.

The mission of the Top of the State Board of Directors is to provide educational scholarships for Shasta & Tehama county high school students who have played golf in high school or junior golf programs, and are planning to pursue degrees at two or four year universities and colleges. The Top of the State Scholarship Endowment Fund is made possible primarily from the proceeds of the SJ Denham Scholarship Golf Classic in August of each year.

The Renaissance Scholars Program, established by The Renaissance Foundation in 2000, aims to support high achieving, low-income students who are the first in their families to pursue a bachelor's degree. Offering renewable scholarships up to $5,000 annually, the program emphasizes educational access and equity. Scholars benefit from mentoring, growth opportunities, and resources to enhance their college experience. The foundation seeks applicants who demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to academic achievement.

The Community Foundation’s scholarships are for Arkansas students pursuing education at two- or four-year colleges or universities, vocational schools or technical training programs. Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria. Some scholarships are designated for graduates of a particular high school or those who plan to attend a particular college. Others are based on extracurricular activities or intended college majors.  

The Foundation has a scholarship portal with a quiz to help applicants determine scholarship eligibility. 

“Since 1976, the Community Foundation has partnered with individuals and organizations who want to support our state’s students in their pursuit of higher education,” said Heather Larkin, Community Foundation president and CEO. “These generous people provide the funding and determine the size and eligibility criteria of each scholarship, while we oversee the application and awarding process on their behalf.” 

Arkansas Service Memorial Scholarship

For students who are children of Arkansans who lost their life in service in the state, nation or community.

The Simons Postdoctoral Fellowships in Plant Biology, offered by the Simons Foundation, aim to support early-career researchers pursuing fundamental studies in plant biology. Candidates with diverse backgrounds, including engineering and computational modeling, are encouraged to apply. This flexible program enables collaborations between disciplines, fostering innovative approaches to plant science. Eligible applicants should have obtained their Ph.D. within the last three years and may include both U.S. citizens and foreign researchers. Awards will be granted to nonprofit research institutions.
