Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri

The Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri Inc. was established in 2009 as a 501(c)3 public charity to help donors support their favorite charities while receiving maximum tax advantage.

We serve as a vehicle for charitable giving, helping donors give to the causes they care about. Donor gifts will strengthen nonprofits increasing programs and services. 

Connors, Helen L Memorial Scholarship

This fund was established in memory of Jim and Helen Connors by their family to provide academic scholarships to graduating seniors attending public and private schools in St Joseph, MO or Mid-Buchanan High School, majoring in nursing, music, law enforcement or theatre. Jim had many occupations throughout his life including actor, weatherman for KQ2, wresting announcer, but most notably retiring from the St Joseph Police Department as Commander after 33 years. Helen was a CRNA for 40 years and a lifelong musician. She specialized in piano and voice but also played the trombone.

Scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis and disbursed in August.

The Juliette Low’s Amazing Girls Scholarship, established in 2011 by the East Texas Communities Foundation, is aimed at female graduating seniors from Smith County who have been active in Girl Scouts. This scholarship supports educational pursuits for students attending any college in the U.S. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 3.00. The award amount is $1,000, and preference is given to recipients of the Girl Scout Gold Award. Reapplication is encouraged.

The Tree Equity RI Grant Program offers funding of up to $25,000 for tree planting projects in Rhode Island, focusing on communities disproportionately affected by environmental hazards. Funded by the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the program encourages local governments, educational institutions, and non-profits to enhance urban greenery. A total of $120,000 is available, requiring a 75/25 match of non-federal funds. This initiative aims to improve tree equity and mitigate extreme heat impacts.

New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH)

The New Jersey Department of Health leads the state’s response to public health challenges and works to improve health outcomes for all New Jersey residents. Through its three primary branches—Public Health Services, Health Systems, and Integrated Health—the Department collaborates across programs and partners to strengthen New Jersey’s health system. Guided by its mission to protect public health, promote healthy communities, and improve the quality of health care, the Department supports initiatives that advance prevention, system integration, and equitable access to health services statewide.

Special Child Health Services, Newborn Screening and Genetic Services Grant Program

Partial support to regional agencies providing pediatric specialty care for infants/children identified via newborn screening to ensure access to confirmatory testing, comprehensive treatment, counseling services and professional/patient/community education/information.

The Partners in Arts Scholarship, administered by the East Texas Communities Foundation, supports graduating seniors from Smith County who have engaged in performing or visual arts and plan to pursue a related major in college. This scholarship highlights the importance of arts education and aims to empower students to achieve their academic goals. Eligible applicants must demonstrate a commitment to the arts and meet specific criteria, ensuring that funding is awarded to deserving candidates.

The Migrant Education Program-Continuation supports eligible children of migratory farm workers and fishers in Gloucester County. This program aims to provide educational resources and services to reduce learning gaps caused by frequent relocations. Key services include student identification, record transfers, and supplemental instruction. The program is a continuation grant, with funding available for the second year of a three-year initiative, running from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025, with a maximum funding amount of $960,825.

The Migrant Education Program - Continuation aims to provide educational support for eligible children of migratory farm workers and fishers in Essex County. This program ensures these children receive necessary services, such as identification, record transfers, and supplemental instruction. As a continuation grant, it serves Gloucester County Special Services and Essex County Educational Services Commission, with funding of $269,031 available for the period from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

The scope of work for the public health system is ever-expanding, and the Department is on the frontlines in leading the response to public health challenges. The Department has three primary branches – Public Health Services, Health Systems, and Integrated Health. All work collaboratively toward improving health by strengthening New Jersey’s health system.

Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Program

Purpose for Which the Grant Program Funds Shall be Used

The Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program supports pregnant people and parents with young children who live in communities that face greater risks and barriers to achieving positive maternal and child health outcomes. Families choose to participate in home visiting programs and partner with health, social service, and child development professionals to set and achieve goals that improve their health and well-being.

This funding opportunity aims to address health disparities in non-communicable and chronic diseases in Latin America. The initiative encourages collaborative research that evaluates public health policies and improves health outcomes among U.S. Hispanics/Latinos. Applications are welcomed from multi-disciplinary teams, with a requirement for collaboration with Latin American institutions. Key deadlines for submission are outlined, with a focus on innovative approaches to tackling critical health issues across the region.

The CBT Youth Environmental Education Grant Program aims to enhance youth engagement in environmental education in Maryland and surrounding areas. This program funds projects that allow students to explore local environmental issues through hands-on research, leading to actionable solutions. Grants support various initiatives, including outdoor investigations and educator training, with funds available up to $10,000 for selected projects. This initiative seeks to foster sustainable practices and environmental stewardship among young learners.

The PB&J Fund, established by the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, aims to empower children and families through culinary education and improve access to nutritious food for under-resourced community members. By valuing respect, learning, caring, and collaboration, the Fund seeks to foster food sovereignty within the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations and public schools, with an emphasis on innovative proposals that address food insecurity.

The Pasadena Community Foundation offers Animal Welfare Grants on even years to support nonprofits focused on wildlife welfare and habitat conservation in the greater Pasadena area. Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 for organizations that create conservation corridors, protect species, and enhance biodiversity. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt and serve areas defined by the Pasadena Unified School District. This initiative aims to foster a compassionate community for all animals through impactful projects.

The Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program, previously known as the RI America the Beautiful Grant Program, supports projects enhancing urban and community forest management. This initiative aims to promote sustainable practices, protect trees from various threats, and improve public awareness of the importance of tree cover. Eligible applicants include local and state governments, educational institutions, and certain non-profits. The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region

The Community Foundation is a devoted advocate for the vitality and well-being of the Rappahannock River Region. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages and distributes charitable giving in the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline, and the City of Fredericksburg.

Scholarships

One of The Community Foundation’s strategies for preserving and growing the quality of life in our region is supporting higher education for area students. Generous individuals and families, companies and organizations establish endowed scholarship funds and the proceeds from these funds benefit deserving students. Donors work with foundation staff to determine appropriate criteria for each fund. The Community Foundation currently administers more than fifty scholarship funds.

The Peter D. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is in memory of Peter D. Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a loving husband and father, a concerned and giving member of the community, and had a passion for enjoying all the benefits of water-skiing.

This scholarship is intended to promote the pursuit of excellence in youth and encourage mental and physical development through involvement in community, academics, employment, water ski clubs and other social activities.

The Bernice Ash Memorial Award honors the legacy of a retail music visionary by providing a $5,000 grant to mid-career professionals employed by NAMM member companies. This award aims to support emerging leaders in the music industry through professional development opportunities and a one-year mentorship with NAMM Young Professionals. Eligible applicants must have at least five years of experience and agree to use the funds for professional training, enhancing their leadership skills and career growth.

The Region 12 Opioid Abatement Council Emergency Fund aims to support organizations focused on opioid and substance use disorder (OUD/SUD) prevention, intervention, treatment, recovery, or harm reduction. Eligible applicants include non-profits, governmental bodies, academic institutions, healthcare providers, and businesses. This funding addresses financial hardships caused by unexpected budget shortfalls or increased service demand due to crises in the community, ensuring continued support for those affected by OUD/SUD.

The Tick-borne Pathogen Award, sponsored by Bay Area Lyme Foundation, offers $150,000 to support innovative research on non-Borrelia tick-borne pathogens. This grant aims to attract scientific talent to explore co-infections with Lyme disease and other related infections. Eligible candidates include researchers from academia or the private sector at the post-doctoral level or higher, with a focus on improving diagnostics and therapies for tick-borne diseases. Applications must present a viable proof-of-concept project.

The Downing-Nix Trust Grant provides funding for organizations engaged in research on muscular dystrophy, maintaining treatment wards in Atlanta hospitals, offering veterinary medicine scholarships, and supporting shelters for small animals. Organizations must qualify as 501(c)(3) charities. Applications are accepted year-round, but submissions by April 15 are required for annual meeting reviews. Priority may be given to hospitals and veterinary schools within Atlanta, GA.

The Charles B. Mathis Memorial Trust Grant supports residents of Ocean County, NJ, focusing on the elderly, poor, sick, and handicapped. Established by Henry C. Mathis, the trust promotes education, good government, and morals. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) exempt and operate locally to qualify. Preference is given to educational initiatives and assistance programs. Applications are accepted year-round, with a submission deadline of April 15 for annual reviews.

The M&M Area Community Foundation's Women's Giving Circle focuses on empowering women and girls in Marinette and Menominee Counties. Through funding projects that directly address their unique challenges, the Circle aims to inspire and support initiatives that create lasting change in the community. By connecting donors with impactful opportunities, the Foundation fosters a culture of giving that enriches local lives and strengthens community ties.

The Make it Minnesota Cost-Share Program, administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, offers financial assistance to Minnesota-based consumer packaged goods companies. By reimbursing 50% of eligible marketing investments, the program supports businesses in enhancing their market presence. Eligible entities can receive up to $4,000 annually for Minnesota-manufactured brands and $3,000 for those made elsewhere. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until the deadline or funds are exhausted, with the final application date set for July 10, 2026.

Betenbough Homes offers a marketing sponsorship to organizations that align with their mission and help engage potential home buyers. As a leading home builder in West Texas, they aim to support events, organizations, or sports teams in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa. Sponsorship requests should not exceed $2,500, and applicants must provide demographic details and marketing benefits. Applications should be submitted at least five weeks ahead of the funding deadline for consideration.

Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy Proposition 68 Grant Program

The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy is pleased to assist non-profit organizations, local public agencies, and tribes by providing grant funding for projects that preserve open space and habitat, increase public access to it, and help create healthy and climate resilient communities.

Funding for Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grant programs is periodically authorized by the California State Legislature. During the pre-application consultation, Conservancy staff will discuss current opportunities. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Wayne Rush Scholarship, established in memory of Wayne Rush, supports North Montgomery High School graduates pursuing agriculture studies at Purdue University. This scholarship reflects Wayne's commitment to community service and agriculture, offering financial assistance to eligible students who demonstrate need. Priority is given to those involved in 4-H. The scholarship is available annually, contingent on funding, ensuring that future generations can benefit from Wayne's legacy of education and community engagement.

The Michigan Professional Insurance Agents Scholarship (MIPIA) is offered by the Four County Community Foundation to seniors and recent graduates in Michigan planning to major in Insurance/Risk Management. This scholarship provides up to four awards and aims to foster education in the insurance field. Award recipients will be honored at the Foundation Scholarship Celebration in May, ensuring recognition of their achievements and contributions to the community.

The Laura Hare Charitable Trust is dedicated to enhancing Indiana's natural environment through the preservation of ecologically significant lands and promoting environmental education. Grants are available for not-for-profit organizations focused on land acquisition, environmental restoration, education, and stewardship. The Trust aims to maintain the integrity of natural habitats while supporting initiatives that foster public awareness and engagement in environmental conservation. Funding is targeted towards projects that align with these core values.
