The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts administers over 160 scholarships. Some of the funds help students from a particular school or area; others provide financial assistance to those pursuing a specific field of study; still others assist students that are most in need. Students who apply to the Scholarship program may be eligible for many of these funds. 

Scholarships are provided for one academic year and are not automatically renewed each year. You can reapply to our program every year you are going to attend college, and the application you submit that year will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible.

Frank W. Jendrysik, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund

To support residents of Chicopee, Holyoke and Springfield.

The Edward and Belle Rudoy Endowment Fund, established by the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, aims to recognize and promote excellence in teaching within the Winneconne Community School District. This fund supports K-12 educators who demonstrate dedication and commitment to education, with recipients nominated by their school principals. Since its inception in 1928, the Foundation has been dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in local communities by uniting resources for impactful projects.

The Gartner Fund – Child Medical Assistance, facilitated by the Three Rivers Community Foundation, aims to provide medical assistance to children under 12 in Benton and Franklin counties. This fund supports children who have not previously received aid, have a reasonable chance of recovery, and face documented financial needs. The application must be submitted by a medical professional, ensuring that grants are directed to medical providers or for necessary adaptive equipment.

The PFC Shane W. Cantu Grant, established by the Shiawassee Community Foundation, honors the memory of PFC Shane W. Cantu, who died in Afghanistan in 2012. This fund supports the community by providing flexible giving options, ensuring that donations enhance lives in Shiawassee County while maintaining responsible stewardship of charitable funds. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to fostering strong community relationships and making a lasting impact.

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation offers STEM Grants aimed at supporting 501(c)(3) organizations that enhance opportunities for African American middle and high school students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The grants focus on creating a pipeline of talent for college readiness, aligning with the foundation's mission to invest in programs that benefit children and families. Eligible organizations must adhere to specific funding priorities and are encouraged to submit impactful proposals.

The Rotary Club Scholarship, administered by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, offers two $750 scholarships annually to assist deserving students in pursuing higher education. Established in 1987, this nonprofit organization has provided over $55,000 in scholarships each year to Beatrice High School seniors. Priority is given to students exemplifying Rotary's ideals, while children of Rotary members are ineligible. This scholarship supports undergraduate studies, ensuring financial assistance is accessible when needed.

The Writer in Residence Grant, offered by the Idaho Commission on the Arts, is a prestigious biennial award recognizing literary excellence among Idaho writers. This grant not only provides financial support but also encourages engagement with the community through workshops and readings. Applicants must be practicing writers, at least 18 years old, and Idaho residents for one year prior to applying. The grant aims to foster literary appreciation and support arts jobs across the state.

The West Wind Fund Grant, provided by the Boreal Waters Community Foundation, aims to support the preservation of historic sites in Bayfield. This grant encourages innovative restoration projects and co-funding partnerships with organizations and individuals. Eligible applicants must be charitable organizations or have a fiscal sponsor, and they should serve the Bayfield community. Oklahoma Poetry Out Loud Partnership Grant

Through the Oklahoma Poetry Out Loud Partnership Grant, one organization is selected to partner with the Oklahoma Arts Council in coordinating and implementing the annual state Poetry Out Loud competition in high schools statewide. The competition is part of the national Poetry Out Loud program administered by the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Poetry Foundation, encouraging the nation’s youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. Launched in high schools nationwide in 2006, Poetry Out Loud helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage. The program has grown to involve millions of students across the country annually.

Program Objectives

The Greenbrier Valley Community Fund Mini Grant offers up to $250 for enrichment projects in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties. This funding supports local nonprofits aiming to enhance community programs within the upcoming year. Eligible applicants include any nonprofit organization located in these counties, making it an accessible opportunity for those looking to contribute positively to their communities.

MacIntyre Family Scholarship Fund

To support residents of Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire Counties

The Cleopatra Fund provides grants to support animal welfare organizations in the Greater Hudson Valley. With a funding range of $500 to $2,000 and a maximum award of $3,000, the fund prioritizes programs benefiting cats, dogs, retired circus animals, and retired farm animals. Eligible applicants include tax-exempt organizations within the Hudson Valley region, which encompasses nine counties. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for animals and the community.

The Bureau of Victim Assistance (BOVA) was established to provide statewide assistance to victims of crime. The journey through the justice system can be traumatic, especially for victims of crime. BOVA offers victims and their loved ones a single point of contact they can turn to before and after their offender is sentenced.

Victim Compensation

The Victim Compensation Program provides financial assistance to innocent victims of violent crime and their eligible family members. The Program helps to reduce the financial burden resulting from a violent crime by reimbursing eligible victims/family members for their crime-related expenses not covered by any other benefit source (insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, disability/death benefits, Workers’ Compensation, etc.). Eligible applicants may be reimbursed for crime related expenses associated with:

• medical/dental treatment
• rehabilitation
• mental health services
• lost wages
• loss of support (dependent[s] of homicide victim)
• tuition loss
• funeral costs
• limited transportation costs
• repair/replacement of exterior windows, doors, and locks damaged during a crime,
• domestic violence temporary housing and relocation
• crime scene cleanup

Markus J. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund

Graduates of Springfield public high schools. Markus Johnson was the first Springfield resident to die while serving in Iraq.

The Greenbrier Valley Women's Fund Grant, established in 2006, supports local nonprofit organizations in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties by empowering women. Grants, awarded annually in September, provide funding for personnel, projects, materials, and capital improvements, ensuring impactful initiatives in the community. This donor-advised fund at the Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation focuses on enhancing the lives of women and promoting gender equity in the region.

The Serena Scholarship Fund, administered by the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts, supports graduating high school seniors from Springfield, Holyoke, Northampton, Amherst, or Greenfield, with a preference for those pursuing careers in addiction and recovery. Students complete one online application, and the Foundation matches them to various scholarships based on their eligibility. Scholarships can cover tuition, fees, and other educational expenses, promoting educational access for students in the region.

September 11th Remembrance Scholarship Fund

To support graduating high school seniors who reside in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden and Hampshire Counties.

The DCCF: Women's Fund Grants provide essential support to initiatives that address issues affecting women and children in Decatur County. With a rolling deadline, these grants focus on empowering young girls through self-confidence, financial literacy, healthy lifestyles, and exposure to engineering fields. Funded by the Decatur County Community Foundation Inc., this initiative aims to create lasting change in the community by fostering the development of future leaders.

Who We Are

The Tennessee Department of Veterans Services (TDVS) operates 14 field offices, four Tennessee State Veterans Cemeteries, serves as liaison for three Tennessee State Veterans Homes, assists with active duty casualties and hosts outreach events across the state to raise awareness and assist Veterans as well as their families.

Veterans Resource Coordinators at the 14 TDVS field offices help Veterans and their families to file claims for federal benefits and connect customers with federal, state and local resources. TDVS also trains County Service Officers to effectively and efficiently file claims for Veterans across the state.

TDVS also monitors and assists with state legislation focused on Veterans and their families. Legislation resulting in state benefits can be found on the State Benefits page.

Who We Are Not

TDVS is not the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The VA manages VA Hospitals, Medical Centers, National Veterans Cemeteries, approves or denies claims for federal benefits and makes decisions regarding service-connected disabilities.

Honor Guard Grant Program (HGGP)

The Honor Guard Grant Program (HGGP), administered by the Tennessee Department of Veterans Services (TDVS), is dedicated to ensuring that every qualifying Tennessee veteran receives a dignified and honorable burial service. Through state-funded grants, the HGGP supports Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) in providing these essential ceremonial services.

Dr. John V. Shea, Jr. Scholarship Fund

To support graduates of Springfield high schools.

The Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) provides tax credits to businesses that contribute to approved Opportunity Scholarship Organizations in Pennsylvania. Businesses can receive a tax credit of up to 75% of their contribution, with a potential increase to 90% for two consecutive years of support. Applications for new and renewal opportunities are reviewed by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, ensuring eligibility to maintain their status on the approved list.

William J. (Bill) and Loretta M. O’Neil Scholarship Fund

To support residents from western Massachusetts pursuing English, journalism or a related field.

Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency

Established by law in 1978, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) serves as the justice planning and policymaking agency for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. By bringing together a wide range of experts in the fields of criminal and juvenile justice, victim services, and related professions, PCCD coordinates the collective examination of problems, proposes solutions, and evaluates the impact of those solutions.

Nonprofit Security Grant Fund Program

Act 83 of 2019 directs PCCD to administer grants to nonprofit organizations which principally serve individuals, groups, or institutions that are included within a bias motivation category for single bias hate crime incidents as identified by the FBI’s 2017 Hate Crime Statistics publication. The categories include race/ethnicity/ancestry; religion; sexual orientation; disability; gender; and gender identity. Applicants were eligible for security enhancements designed to protect the safety and security of the users of a facility located in the Commonwealth that is owned or operated by the nonprofit organization.

On November 24, 2025, PCCD released the solicitation under this program via SurveyMonkey with the application period being closed on January 12, 2026. Priority consideration in the application review process was given to those nonprofit organizations that indicated that their organization or membership was the victim of a hate-crime and clearly articulated a credible hate-crime threat to their organization or served a population clearly susceptible to a hate-crime.

Funding under this non-competitive announcement is limited to supporting the 191 Nonprofit Security Grant Program applicant agencies as identified in Appendix A (of atteched PDF document).

The CFNA: Elk County Society for Special Services offers funding to nonprofit organizations focused on enhancing Pre-K education programs within Elk County and surrounding areas. This grant aims to improve existing initiatives or develop new programs, ensuring support is directed toward community needs rather than individual requests. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations dedicated to serving diverse populations without discrimination.
