Norm & Marilyn Leven Challenge Scholars Scholarship

Preference for Challenge Scholar students through 2032.

The Empowering YOU Scholarship, launched by the Tulsa Community Foundation in 1998, supports adults pursuing higher education at accredited institutions in the Tulsa area. The Limited Competition grant supports High Impact Specialized Innovation Programs to enhance clinical and translational science capabilities at UM1 CTSA Program Hubs. Eligible applicants include primary UM1 CTSA hub organizations, aiming to address significant gaps in research and development. Successful proposals will foster foundational innovations for broader dissemination among CTSA hubs, paving the way for future advancements in clinical practices and research methodologies.

The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Buddhism Public Scholars Fellowships offer recent PhD graduates in Buddhist Studies the opportunity to work at host institutions such as museums and libraries. Scholars will engage in meaningful roles, receiving competitive compensation and health benefits. Starting in September 2026, this initiative aims to foster partnerships that enhance the understanding and dissemination of Buddhist traditions, benefiting both scholars and cultural organizations globally.

The District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE) is inviting applications for projects aimed at restoring publicly-owned parks and natural areas. With a funding pool of $184,000, the initiative seeks to engage eligible entities in removing trash and invasive species while enhancing community involvement in preserving these green spaces. Awards will range from $50,000 to a maximum of three grants, promoting sustainable practices within local urban environments.

Youth Empowered Philanthropy (YEP) is a transformative program offered by the Community Foundation that teaches students in grades 10-12 about charitable giving. By empowering youth to make impactful decisions with real funding, YEP fosters a vibrant community in Allen County. Participants learn about nonprofit organizations, grantmaking, and develop essential skills like public speaking and critical thinking. Grants range from $1,000 to $5,000, and applications are reviewed by YEP members, ensuring youth engagement in philanthropy.

Michael J. Wolf Scholarship

Open to high school seniors graduating from a high school in the City of Grand Rapids and residents of the City of Grand Rapids, attending University of Michigan full time, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Adult Education Scholarship

Awarded to a GED graduate who has completed his/her GED requirements over the previous 12 months through the John Wood Community College Adult Education Program. The course taken must be a college credit course. The student receiving this award must exhibit dedication to education, helpfulness with other students, and a desire to continue his/her education at John Wood Community College. This scholarship is awarded at GED Graduation in the spring; final selection is made by the Adult Education faculty and staff.

Melbourne & Alice E. Frontjes Scholarship

Open to students who are residents of Kent County for 3+ years, attending CMU, WMU, GRCC, MSU or U-M and with a minimum 2.75 GPA.

The Folk and Traditional Arts Community Projects Grant, offered by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, supports projects that enhance traditional arts and cultures in the mid-Atlantic region. The Golden Trowel Award, presented by the Archaeological Institute of America, recognizes the local society with the highest proportional membership increase over the past year. This prestigious award highlights the vital role that local societies play in promoting archaeology and supporting the AIA's mission. By fostering community engagement and growth, the award encourages societies to enhance their programs and initiatives, ultimately enriching the field of archaeology.

The Mid Atlantic Tours Grants program supports presenters in the mid-Atlantic region who engage Roster Artists during their project periods. Eligible presenters can receive up to a 50% subsidy for artist compensation, which includes fees, housing, and travel. The application process is straightforward and non-competitive, but early engagement with the artist's tour manager is advised due to limited funding. This initiative fosters a diverse range of performances and community engagement.

The Girls with Goals Fund, established by Women Lead Change, aims to empower girls in Iowa from Kindergarten to 8th Grade. This fund supports non-profit organizations that inspire girls to recognize their strengths, celebrate individuality, and stimulate interest in traditionally male-dominated fields. Organizations with 501(c)(3) status are eligible to apply for funding to foster mentorship and leadership skills among young girls, ensuring they have the resources needed for personal and academic growth.

The Doris Betts Fiction Prize, administered by the North Carolina Writers’ Network, fosters literary talent by awarding a $250 prize and publication in the North Carolina Literary Review. Open to legal residents of North Carolina and members of the Network, it encourages previously unpublished short stories up to 6,000 words. Finalists also receive consideration for publication and monetary awards ranging from $50 to $150. This initiative highlights the importance of writing in nurturing community and civic discourse.

THRIVE Grants provide up to $10,000 to support innovative, artist-led visual arts projects in Oklahoma. These grants encourage impactful initiatives that engage the community and push traditional exhibition boundaries. Projects must be open to the public and occur within the funding period. The program, in partnership with The Andy Warhol Foundation, emphasizes collaboration and creativity, prioritizing new projects that have not previously received funding.

About Wavemaker Grants

WaveMaker at Locust Projects supports Miami’s visionary artists with INCUBATOR grants for innovative PROJECTS that  are shared with the public in Unconventional Spaces.

All projects must engage or be shared with the public in unconventional spaces in Miami-Dade County. This may include exhibitions, performances, events, workshops, screenings, programming at alternative or artist-run-spaces. Projects can not be presented at art museums or commercial galleries.

Criteria

All proposals will be considered based on criteria including but not limited to:

• Overall idea, vision, and artistic innovation
• Relevance to the local social, cultural, and/or geographic context
• Accessibility of the project to the public outside of a museum or gallery
• In person gatherings in free, publicly accessible spaces are an essential requirement.
• Capacity of the applicant to realize the project on time and within budget
• Potential impact on the local community, the arts and culture landscape, and/or the artist’s growth

Grant Categories:

Each year, WaveMaker at Locust Projects awards a total of $60,000 in grant funding to artists across Miami-Dade County in the following three categories:

New Work / Projects

• Grants up to $6,000 each to support the creation and presentation of visionary, artist-driven new work / projects.   

Long-Haul Projects

• Grants up to $6,000 each to support launching, sustaining, or completing long-term projects. This category recognizes the time and commitment required to pursue long-term artistic endeavors.

R&D + Implementation

• Grants up to $2,000 each to support research and development for ambitious new projects that take creative risks or benefit from a longer planning period. After the R&D phase, grantees are encouraged to submit a short-form proposal for an additional $4,000 to implement their projects.

Mac's Toy Fund has been a beacon of hope for families in Raleigh County for 93 years, providing essential items like toys, coats, and bikes during Christmas. In 2024, rather than distributing toys directly, the fund will award grants to charitable organizations dedicated to helping low-income children in the area. This initiative ensures that the spirit of giving continues, allowing local groups to directly support families in need during the holiday season.

Eligible entries must be original translations published by U.S. trade publishers within the calendar year. The award not only recognizes the art of translation but also promotes cultural exchange and literary diversity.

The PEN/John Kenneth Galbraith Award for Nonfiction, offered by PEN America, recognizes a distinguished book of nonfiction published annually. This prestigious award, which includes a $10,000 prize, honors works that exhibit notable literary merit and critical perspectives on contemporary issues. Eligible authors, regardless of citizenship, must have published their book in the previous calendar year. This award highlights the importance of intellectual rigor and stylistic elegance, echoing the legacy of economist John Kenneth Galbraith.

The PEN/Jacqueline Bograd Weld Award for Biography, presented by PEN America, recognizes outstanding literary works in biography published in the U.S. during the previous year. With a prize of $5,000, this award celebrates authors who demonstrate exceptional narrative and artistic merit through scrupulous research. Since its inception, PEN America has awarded over $370,000 annually, supporting diverse voices in literature and promoting the freedom of expression.

The PEN/E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award honors outstanding writing that effectively communicates complex scientific ideas in an accessible manner. Established by Dr. Edward O. Wilson and supported by notable figures, this award recognizes a single, living author for their work published within the calendar year. The winner receives a $10,000 cash prize, celebrating excellence in the literature of the physical and biological sciences.

The MEM Safety Grants program, offered by Missouri Employers Mutual, provides critical funding to enhance workplace safety. With one-to-one matching funds available from $500 to $10,000, it supports policyholders in acquiring necessary safety equipment. Applications are accepted year-round, with decisions made monthly. To qualify, applicants must maintain an active policy and clearly demonstrate the need for safety improvements. This initiative aims to foster safer work environments across Missouri, reflecting the company’s commitment to worker safety.

The PEN/Diamonstein-Spielvogel Award for the Art of the Essay, established by PEN America, honors a distinguished writer whose collection of essays expands their body of work. This prestigious award, with a cash prize of $15,000, recognizes books of individual essays that can explore a specific theme or a variety of subjects. Eligible candidates must be U.S. residents and cannot be debut authors, ensuring the award celebrates established voices in the literary community.

The PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry Collection, established by a bequest from Hunce Voelcker, is presented annually by PEN America to recognize a distinguished collection of poetry published in the calendar year. This award honors the importance of poetry collections as an art form and is open to all U.S. residents or citizens, regardless of age or poetic style, with a cash prize of $5,000. It aims to celebrate and expand the scope of American poetry.
