Kiwanis Club of Allentown

The Kiwanis Club of Allentown was chartered on May 14, 1918 with one hundred members. It is one of the oldest Kiwanis clubs in Pennsylvania. One of the club’s first service projects was the establishment of a shelter for children from homes with Spanish Influenza. By 1921, the club grew to 118 members.

Each fiscal year, beginning October 1, our Foundation awards grants to worthwhile projects and programs in our community. Individual grants usually do not exceed $1,500, although periodically we have awarded grants of a more substantial nature for special projects of significant value to the local, as well as global, community.

We offer grants from our Foundation to non-profit organizations that serve children in the Lehigh Valley. We give preference to those who serve Allentown, PA. Grants are generally kept to $1,500.00 or less. If you have received a grant from us before, you must complete a Grant Feedback Form.

The Sullenberger Award for Courage, presented by the U.S. Air Force Academy Association & Foundation, recognizes exemplary acts of bravery by graduates of the Academy. This prestigious award honors those who demonstrate outstanding leadership and service, reflecting the core values of integrity, service before self, and excellence. Nominations can be submitted by anyone, and the award celebrates acts that positively impact the Academy and its legacy.

Literary Arts Fund

Grants Overview

The Literary Arts Fund will award at least $50 million in grants to the nonprofit literary arts field over the next five years, concluding in 2031.

With a short timeline, the fund’s grantmaking has a strategic focus on the areas of the literary arts ecosystem where it determined it could have the greatest impact— that is: supporting independent U.S.-based literary arts nonprofits whose primary mission is directly serving adult writers of creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and hybrid works in making their artistic work and sharing it with readers outside of school and academic settings. General Operating Grants Applications 2026 Guide

Background

The Literary Arts Fund was established in 2025 to dramatically increase funding for and the visibility of the nonprofit literary arts field toward ensuring a healthy and more robust U.S. literary culture in support of creative writers. The fund will award at least $10 million in grants to the nonprofit literary arts field in each of the next five years, concluding in 2031. The first open call is for 2026 general operating grant applications.

The U.S. Air Force Academy Association & Foundation's Leadership Achievement Award recognizes alumni who have exemplified exceptional leadership, integrity, and character in their professional endeavors. This prestigious honor is awarded to graduates who have achieved notable accomplishments 16 to 39 years post-graduation, thereby enriching the legacy of the Long Blue Line. Nominations must be submitted by fellow graduates and reapplication is necessary for previous nominees.

The PLTW Gateway program, supported by the Arthur Blanchard Charitable Trust, aims to enhance educational opportunities for K-12 students in Massachusetts. Grants are available to assist schools in implementing or expanding PLTW programs, which are designed to foster hands-on learning in STEM fields. Eligible public and charter schools can apply for funding to cover essential program costs, ensuring more students have access to innovative educational experiences.

The U.S. Air Force Academy Association & Foundation honors exceptional graduates with the Distinguished Graduate Award, recognizing their significant contributions to the nation and communities over the past 40 years. The Arthur Blanchard Charitable Trust collaborates with PLTW to enhance the accessibility of PLTW Gateway programs for K-12 students in Massachusetts. This grant aims to address drug shortages by exploring the landscape of products susceptible to health fraud and finding ways for outsourcing facilities to fulfill these needs. By funding research and development, the initiative seeks to enhance the production of critical medications, thereby stabilizing the drug supply chain and protecting public health from fraud-related risks.

The Change Lab Research Fellow - Civic Engagement position at Forecast Public Art invites talented individuals to explore the intersection of public art and civic engagement. This six-month fellowship offers a $5,000 stipend for research aimed at fostering democratic participation through public art. The selected Fellow will conduct in-depth research, develop a public-facing report, and contribute to a national public art policy platform focused on justice and human dignity.

The George & Elizabeth Davis Trusts Grant provides funding for Protestant charitable and religious institutions in Kansas City, Missouri. It supports general operating and program needs, but not capital requests. Grants last for one year, ensuring that organizations can sustain and enhance their services. This grant aims to promote the development of community-focused initiatives in the region, fostering a stronger support network for local religious institutions.

Agility Grants, initiated by the National Council on Problem Gambling, aim to minimize gambling-related harm through funding nonprofit organizations for innovative prevention programs. These grants focus on addressing gaps in services and enhancing existing initiatives. Eligible applicants include U.S.-based 501(c)(3) organizations, with priority given to projects targeting at-risk populations. The program emphasizes community impact and requires evaluations to assess effectiveness, fostering collaboration and awareness within diverse communities affected by gambling.

The Yappers Grant, provided by the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, aims to empower youth aged 0-25 by funding nonprofit organizations that create opportunities and raise awareness for local issues. Eligible organizations must operate for at least a year and comply with anti-discrimination laws. The grants focus on improving health, stable living, effective education, and career advancement for disadvantaged youth, promoting sustainable solutions and community participation.

The Lucia C. Harrison Endowed Memorial Geography Scholarship at Western Michigan University supports exceptional juniors and seniors majoring in community and regional planning, geography, teaching geography, and tourism. Each scholarship is awarded based on the availability of qualified applicants, with a junior award of $1500 and a senior award of $500, both credited directly to the student’s tuition account.

The Simons Postdoctoral Fellowships in Plant Biology, offered by the Simons Foundation, aim to support early-career researchers pursuing fundamental studies in plant biology. Candidates with diverse backgrounds, including engineering and computational modeling, are encouraged to apply. This flexible program enables collaborations between disciplines, fostering innovative approaches to plant science. Eligible applicants should have obtained their Ph.D. within the last three years and may include both U.S. citizens and foreign researchers. The Preservation Planning Grants by LCHIP aim to safeguard New Hampshire's vital historic resources through financial support for preservation plans. The Northern Colorado United for Youth - Impact Grants offer significant financial assistance to 501(c)(3) organizations focused on benefiting youth in Larimer and Weld Counties. With funding ranging from $20,000 to over 20% of an organization's annual budget, these grants support major capital projects, infrastructure improvements, and collaborative efforts that enhance community impact. This initiative aims to address one-time funding needs arising from organizational growth and expansion.

The Society of Family Planning aims to document the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of medication abortion up to 97 days, addressing a critical gap in abortion care. With medication abortion comprising 63% of all abortions in the U.S. in 2023, this funding opportunity seeks to generate vital data beyond the FDA's 70-day approval, promoting evidence-informed and person-centered clinical practices for those needing abortion care later in pregnancy.

The T32 Institutional Pediatric Research grant at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia aims to enhance the training of pediatricians in research methodologies. Preston Coiner Scholarship

The Preston Coiner Scholarship is a multi-year award administered through the Charlottesville Scholarship Program. Based on funding availability, the award may be used for a two or four year undergraduate program. Only one award is given every four years.

ASPCA The Rescue Effect Campaign Grants

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®) is offering up to $2 million in grants to support adoption at shelters and rescues during the 2026 “The Rescue Effect”, a nationwide campaign that highlights the positive chain of events that occurs when people adopt, foster, volunteer, advocate and donate.

The Rescue Effect will run through the months of August, September, and October 2026, during which grantees must offer a minimum of two (2) fee-waived adoption days/events each month. 

Restrictions and Parameters

Grant funds may be used for any of the following:

• make-ready costs for cats/dogs available for adoption during the Campaign months covered by the grant term (e.g., s/n surgery, microchips, vaccinations, testing, dewormer, flea-tick treatment, heartworm preventative, bloodwork)
• marketing/advertising costs (e.g., adoption promotions, volunteer/foster recruitment)
• waived adoption fees for adoptions occurring during the Campaign months covered by the grant term
• foster program expansion/ramp up
• operating costs related to supporting participation in The Rescue Effect campaign

The DDAF Oral Health Education Grants aim to enhance oral health awareness among underserved Arkansas residents through community partnerships. By funding innovative educational programs, the initiative promotes essential habits like brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits. Grants range from $2,500 to $30,000, prioritizing projects that demonstrate a clear oral health focus, collaboration, and inclusion of diverse communities. This effort seeks to prevent severe oral health issues and improve overall community well-being.

The Families Invested in Reforming Education (FIRE) Fellowship is a six-week virtual training program designed to empower advocates committed to enhancing the education system for PreK-12 students in the U.S. Participants will engage in eight interactive sessions, focusing on advocacy skills and community networking. Graduates will benefit from ongoing support and training from the 50CAN team to further their advocacy efforts. This volunteer-only program does not offer stipends, emphasizing a commitment to educational reform.
