Children’s Justice Act Grant

PURPOSE:

The New Mexico Children’s Justice Act Advisory Group (CJAAG) provides expert guidance and oversight for the distribution of federal Children’s Justice Act (CJA) funds managed by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD). Comprised of multidisciplinary leaders, including representatives from the courts, law enforcement, child welfare, and medical fields. CJAAG directs these resources to improve the investigation, prosecution, and judicial handling of child abuse and neglect cases.

The primary mission of the CJAAG is to foster a system that minimizes additional trauma for child victims, particularly in cases of sexual abuse, exploitation, fatalities, and cases involving children with disabilities.
