The DCLA Art Fund Grants, offered by Staten Island Arts, support individual artists and collectives in creating culturally significant work. Open to all artistic disciplines, projects must include a public component. Emphasizing community engagement, the grants prioritize under-resourced disciplines and communities. The NYSCA Encore Grants are designed to support returning Staten Island-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in presenting significant artistic and cultural programming across various disciplines. Eligible projects must focus on cultural expression and be accessible to the community, emphasizing artistic significance and addressing under-resourced disciplines. The grant is funded by the New York State Council on the Arts and aims to enhance local cultural production and community engagement.

Our Story

The IBMA Foundation was created by the International Bluegrass Music Association in 2007 with a bequest from the Richard Barnhart estate. Mr. Barnhart was a musician from northern Virginia who loved bluegrass and wanted to support educational programs for children. Since the beginning, our goal has been to support bluegrass-music-related educational, literary, artistic and historic preservation activities.

In our early years we produced Discover Bluegrass, an educational video that has been used in thousands of classrooms and libraries around the world. We have hosted dozens of teacher workshops and artist trainings. We created a bluegrass lesson plan competition and provided a network for leaders of after-school bluegrass programs.

Our project grants, which now total $25,000 a year, support bluegrass-related initiatives throughout the world. We also fund Bluegrass in the Schools Mini-grants ($7,000/year) which help schools to hire bluegrass bands for school programs. The Rosenberg Bluegrass Scholar Award recognizes excellence in academic research. Six college scholarships are granted for students working in various areas of the bluegrass music industry. The Arnold Shultz Fund supports increased participation of people of color in bluegrass music with grants that total $30,000/ year. Fletcher Bright Memorial Grants for Young Musicians (age 18 and younger) help young people go to bluegrass music camps and workshops, take lessons, and purchase educational materials.

IBMA  Foundation Project Grants

The IBMA Foundation awards project grants each year, usually in amounts between $1,000 and $2,500. The deadline to apply is December 2, 2024. Projects must align with the Foundation’s mission in one of the following areas

• Arts & culture
• Education
• Literary or academic programs
• History preservation

The Lane and Elizabeth C. Dwinell Charitable Trust Grant aims to strengthen communities and foster positive social change in New Hampshire. The WMU College of Arts and Sciences offers the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities Grant to support undergraduate students in hands-on research with faculty. This grant encourages academic excellence by providing funding for materials, stipends, travel, and project-related expenses. Students must have a declared major in the college, complete at least 9 credit hours, and maintain good academic standing to be eligible. Funds are disbursed under faculty supervision, ensuring proper use according to university procedures.

The Omaha Venture Group (OVG) Grant supports innovative nonprofits in the Omaha metro area with funding up to $8,000 aimed at fostering growth and community engagement. With over $700,000 awarded since 2002, OVG focuses on arts, health, safety, and education initiatives. Nonprofits must be 501(c)(3) organizations with a budget of $500,000 or less to qualify. This grant cycle emphasizes impactful projects that can make a difference in local communities.

The Caroline Peine Charitable Foundation Grant aims to enhance the quality of life in Manhattan, Kansas, focusing on projects that benefit the KONZA Prairie and promote recreational development in Keats. The Foundation welcomes applications from local nonprofits addressing various community needs, including the arts, historical preservation, and recreational services. The McMillen Artist Community Reverse Scholarship Program supports visual artists in Washington State by offering competitive grants aimed at fostering artistic excellence and community engagement. With a focus on debt relief, the program helps artists achieve their creative career goals while building a vibrant artistic community.

The Irma L. and Abram S. Croll Charitable Trust, established in 2001, supports charitable causes primarily in New York City. With a focus on arts, education, and health, the foundation continues the philanthropic legacy of the Croll family. Administered by Wells Fargo Bank, it awards 3 to 5 grants annually, typically ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, to organizations that qualify as 501(c)(3) entities.

The Farrington Historical Foundation Grants support 501(c)(3) organizations in Santa Clara County, California, focusing on arts, animal protection, environmental conservation, and historic preservation.
