EDUC8 Awards: Umbrella for CIRM Bridges and COMPASS Funding Opportunities

Objective:

Prepare undergraduate through master’s level students for career-entry opportunities in regenerative medicine by identifying and supporting untapped talent and producing well-trained, adaptable, and committed professionals for the regenerative medicine workforce.

Scope:

EDUC8 enables training programs that provide relevant coursework, instill key competencies, and support paid, hands-on internships to produce technically skilled individuals who can deliver on CIRM’s mission. An EDUC8 Award may be structured to support a COMPASS Path, a Bridges Path, or both (Dual Path). All paths include patient engagement, community outreach, and strategic mentoring practices for efficient transition of trainees to careers in the life sciences. Innovative recruitment and retention strategies will broaden the participation and perspectives of Californians in the regenerative medicine workfoce.

EDUC3: Funding Opportunity for Summer Programs to Accelerate Regenerative Medicine Knowledge (SPARK)

Objective 

To inspire, educate, and motivate high school students to become involved in CIRM’s mission to accelerate world-class science and deliver transformative regenerative medicine treatments in an equitable manner to a diverse California and world

To provide summer training opportunities and broaden participation in stem cell, gene therapy, and related research to high school students, including those who might not otherwise have opportunities for summer research internships due to social, geographic, or other constraints

Scope

SPARK Awards support mentored, hands-on summer internships for high school students in regenerative medicine related science. Each program is led by a qualified program director who is responsible for coordinating all activities supported by the program, including recruitment and selection of qualified trainees and tracking program alumni. Additional activities include educational enhancements, patient engagement, community outreach, and participation in a culminating summer conference. To broaden internship possibilities, an applicant institution may collaborate with other organizations to provide broader program access to candidate trainees/interns.

The Coachella Valley Mountains Conservancy Proposition 4 Grant Program aims to enhance climate resilience through nature-based solutions in conservation lands. It supports projects focused on habitat restoration, wildfire risk reduction, and improving public access to outdoor recreation. Priority is given to initiatives benefiting disadvantaged communities and those that align with California's 30x30 conservation goals. Funding is provided through the Safe Drinking Water, Wildfire Prevention, Drought Preparedness, and Clean Air Bond Act of 2024.

The Valley Water Community Partnering Sponsorship Program supports local organizations and events that align with its mission of providing safe and clean water in Silicon Valley. This program encourages civic engagement and environmental stewardship by offering sponsorships to public agencies, nonprofits, schools, and community groups. Eligible applicants are those that demonstrate a commitment to regional water policy and positive environmental impact. This initiative underscores Valley Water's dedication to collaborative efforts in fostering a sustainable community.

The California State Nonprofit Security Grant Program (CSNSGP) provides essential funding for nonprofit organizations at high risk of violent attacks and hate crimes. With a maximum of $250,000 available per location, nonprofits can submit up to two proposals to enhance their physical security. This initiative, funded by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services, aims to strengthen safety measures and support vulnerable communities across the state.

Eligible applicants include registered non-profit food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in 13 U.S. states. The grant focuses on direct services, ensuring that all funds are used for food and shelter, not for operating expenses, thereby promoting effective community support for vulnerable populations.

Statewide Wildfire Safety & Preparedness Grant

The California Fire Foundation is pleased to announce the 2026 Statewide Wildfire Safety & Preparedness Grant application cycle for California-based fire departments, firefighter associations, nonprofit organizations, and tribal entities.

Focus Areas 

Applicants whose projects focus on wildfire and other climate-related prevention and preparedness efforts are eligible to receive up to $25,000, with requests outside of this range considered on an as-needed basis.

The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) Fellowship: Brave Heart empowers Native youth leaders aged 18-24 to engage in environmental justice and advocacy. Through tailored training, mentorship, and community projects, CNAY fosters skills in leadership, stewardship of lands, and food sovereignty. This fellowship addresses the representation gap for Indigenous Peoples in climate justice, promoting cultural preservation while mobilizing youth to protect sacred sites and waterways. Applications are open to eligible Native youth residing in specific regions.

The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) Fellowship: Remembering Our Sisters program empowers Indigenous women and femme-identifying youth, aged 18-24, to advocate against the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit+ (MMIWG2S+) crisis. Participants receive resources and training to honor lost relatives through storytelling and digital arts while promoting policies to increase visibility and end violence against Indigenous sisters. This fellowship fosters leadership and cultural grounding for impactful community change.

The Center for Native American Youth (CNAY) Fellowship empowers Native youth leaders aged 18-24 through tailored training in sovereignty, leadership, and advocacy. It provides resources for community action projects and fosters intergenerational learning. The program includes three distinct cohorts focusing on environmental stewardship, advocacy for missing and murdered Indigenous people, and policy networking. Over nine months, participants enhance their skills and amplify their voices, becoming engaged community advocates while forming a supportive network.

The Active Transportation Grant Program aims to promote increased use of active transportation modes, such as biking and walking, throughout California. This program consolidates various federal and state transportation efforts and allocates significant funding annually to enhance safety and mobility for non-motorized users. The ATP also focuses on advancing public health and ensuring that disadvantaged communities benefit from transportation improvements, ultimately striving to make California a leader in active transportation initiatives.

RFQ-25-401 - Energy Code Compliance Evaluation Support

Purpose

The purpose of this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to select a Prime Contractor to lead a team of professional architectural and engineering consultants to provide technical support for:

• The California Energy Code compliance evaluation program, including the design and execution of methodologically defensible evaluations to address critical statewide data gaps and improve the CEC’s understanding of both process-based and energy-based compliance.
• Improving the State’s intelligence regarding Energy Code compliance through evidence-based identification of systemic challenges, regional variations, and root causes of noncompliance, informed by empirical field data rather than program attribution or advocacy-focused analyses.
• Establishing a technical foundation for future statewide Energy Code compliance rates analyses, including the development and validation of evaluation methodologies, sampling frameworks, data collection instruments, and analytical approaches that can be replicated and scaled in subsequent studies.
• Supporting implementation of recommendations from the “California Energy Code Compliance Gap Analysis” staff report by providing technical evaluation, feasibility assessment, and empirical evidence to inform enforcement strategies, compliance improvement priorities, and future policy development.
• Conducting comprehensive field studies across defined building categories and compliance definitions, recognizing the performance-based nature of the Energy Code, the existence of multiple compliance pathways, construction-phase access limitations, and the inherent complexity of evaluating energy-based outcomes at scale.
• Identifying and supporting technically grounded compliance implementation solutions, including evaluation-informed recommendations, pilot concepts, workforce-related technical assistance, and implementation-ready tools or frameworks that enable State, regional, and local partners to improve Energy Code compliance outcomes based on documented findings from the evaluation activities. The Vertebrate Pest Control Research Program aims to fund research and education initiatives that improve control measures for vertebrate pests impacting California's agriculture, infrastructure, and public welfare. Proposals can originate from outside California, provided they address relevant pest concerns within the state. Projects that include additional funding sources are particularly encouraged. The Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship, awarded by Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, supports first and second-year medical students conducting research over 2 to 12 months. With a total funding of $7,000, students can receive reimbursement for travel expenses up to $1,000 for presenting their findings at national conferences. Eligibility requires enrollment in schools with active AΩA chapters, while those taking a year off for research or holding a PhD are ineligible.

The Local Parks Grant: Implementation Grants program by Arts in California Parks aims to foster community ties by enhancing local cultural history through art and nature in parks. Eligible projects must engage the public and contribute to community health and well-being, with grants awarded for initiatives in local parks across California. Projects are expected to be executed within a 12-month period, starting in October 2025, and should focus on creating sustainable connections to local heritage.

The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program aims to support large-size law enforcement organizations in California, focusing on training and enforcement related to impaired driving laws, including those pertaining to cannabis. With approximately $13 million available, each grant can reach up to $1 million, requiring applicants to justify their budget requests and demonstrate measurable goals. This initiative seeks to enhance public safety by addressing the challenges posed by drug-impaired driving.

The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program aims to enhance data collection in Medical Examiner and Coroner's offices regarding DUI/DUID incidents. With approximately $11 million available, each grant application can request up to $2 million. The funds will support new initiatives or expand existing activities to ensure thorough investigations when fatalities occur due to vehicular incidents involving impaired drivers. Applicants must demonstrate a clear need and measurable goals for the proposed budget items.

The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program supports small and mid-size law enforcement agencies in California, providing approximately $13 million in funding for training and education on traffic laws related to driving under the influence of drugs, including cannabis. With a cap of $500,000 per application, the program aims to enhance enforcement efforts and improve community safety. Agencies with 100 to 500 employees are eligible to apply, emphasizing the need for measurable goals and justifications.

The Victim Offender Dialogue Program Grants aim to provide funding for nonprofit organizations facilitating restorative justice dialogues between crime victims and offenders. With a total of $2 million available over two years, these grants support the creation of safe environments for personal healing and accountability. By empowering victims and encouraging offenders to express remorse, this initiative fosters empathy, responsibility, and healing within California's justice system.

The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program supports California's Toxicology Crime Laboratories in enhancing DUI/DUID enforcement. With approximately $11 million available, grants aim to improve practices and provide necessary resources for testing and analysis of substances, including cannabis. Applicants are encouraged to propose measurable goals and justify their funding needs, with a maximum of $2 million per application to strengthen public safety and uphold traffic laws.

The AW Environmental Grant Program, backed by American Water Works Company, Inc., aims to support community-driven projects focused on water conservation and the protection of vital water resources.
