John Kepner Seva Award 

The annual Seva Award recognizes yoga therapists who bring yoga to those who have not had full access to these practices. This award was named in honor of Executive Director Emeritus John Kepner and his tireless efforts to advance the field and give back to the yoga therapy community.

Intended to help support and significantly advance the work of C-IAYTs or yoga therapists in training, the John Kepner Seva Award offers seed funding and publicity for well-defined and well-planned service projects.

IAYT and co-sponsor, the Give Back Yoga Foundation, commit annual support to these awards. 

What projects will be considered?

We’re seeking to support active and ongoing projects that benefit a population that may not otherwise be able to access yoga therapy. We're looking for innovative work that fosters accessibility, inclusivity, diversity, and social justice in yoga therapy, including initiatives focused on overcoming systemic barriers to accessing or training in yoga therapy. Positive consideration is given to yoga therapists from historically underresourced, underserved, marginalized, minoritized, and underrepresented backgrounds. Your application should include specifics about how your project will be communicated to and integrated into the community.

One winner will receive:

• $1,008 (US) prize for project facilitation
• Registration for one person to attend IAYT's Symposium on Yoga Therapy and Research (SYTAR),
• Three nights at the conference hotel
• $400 toward travel to the conference
• Up to 20 yoga mats from Give Back Yoga Foundation to facilitate project classes (if applicable)
• Opportunity to tell the project's story in IAYT’s magazine Yoga Therapy Today

The Marie Ooley Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, awards $3,000 to a graduating high school senior from a Springfield public high school with a GPA of 3.5 or above. Applicants must demonstrate financial need through FAFSA-SAI, describe their community service and activities, and submit an essay and a letter of recommendation. This scholarship is part of a larger initiative that allocates $1.7 million annually to support educational pursuits.

The Washington Red Raspberry Commission offers research grants to support the advancement of red raspberry cultivation. These grants focus on innovative farming practices, pest management, and cultivar development, aimed at enhancing grower productivity and sustainability. Proposals are evaluated based on their potential impact on the industry, with an emphasis on practical applications. The Joan Robinson Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides a $1,900 scholarship to graduating high school seniors from Perry County, MO. Applicants must submit a transcript, an essay detailing community service and work experience, and a letter of recommendation. Preference is given to those pursuing degrees in Environmental Science. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life through education, aligning with the foundation's core values of integrity, respect, and leadership.

The Edna Mae Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico, aims to support women from rural communities in their pursuit of higher education at vocational community colleges or universities. This scholarship is open to applicants actively enrolled in any form of higher education, including undergraduate and vocational programs, with a special focus on assisting those in need. The Shelby Estep Memorial FFA Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides a $700 scholarship to graduating high school seniors from the Southwest FFA District in Missouri. Eligible applicants must have a GPA of 2.0 or above and plan to attend an accredited college or vocational school. An essay and financial need documentation via FAFSA-SAI are required for consideration.

The Gage County Agricultural Society Evie Crawford Scholarship, managed by the Beatrice Educational Foundation, offers a $500 scholarship to a graduating senior pursuing higher education at a two- or four-year college. Applications are available at local offices or online. The scholarship emphasizes integrity, requiring that applicants complete their applications personally and without using handwritten methods. Spencer Educational Foundation: Risk Manager on Campus Grants

Spencer’s Risk Manager on Campus (RMOC) Program has been praised by both universities and risk managers as a rewarding educational experience for students and a chance to give back to the profession. The grant program brings a practicing risk manager to the university to present and engage with students about the Risk Management profession and the Insurance industry. Since 1997, Spencer has awarded over 500 RMOC Grants totaling $1.7 million to universities & colleges across the United States and Canada.

Spencer’s Risk Manager on Campus program offers grants of up to $5,000 to universities and colleges in the United States and Canada to host a practicing Risk Manager on its campus for a 1–3-day residency. The grant award is to be used to:

• Reimburse the risk manager for travel, housing, and incidental expenses incurred from the visit.
• Coordinate class visits, campus-wide lectures, panel discussions, meals, student club/organization meetings, senior administration visits, and/or receptions for students to network with and learn from the visiting risk manager, thereby exposing students to careers in Risk Management and Insurance (including Actuarial Science) and cultivating excitement about the industry.

Through our Internship Grant Program, Spencer aims to support tomorrow’s Risk Management and Insurance leaders through experiential learning opportunities. 

Spencer provides internship grants of up to $7,500 to Risk Managers to hire interns in the risk management function of their organizations. Employers apply for grants from Spencer, and students then apply directly with the companies for internship opportunities.

Since 1999, Spencer has awarded $3.5 million to create over 650 risk management internships. Through the internship program, students learn about the field in a real-world business setting where they can quickly apply what they know, respond to new experiences, and begin to develop contacts in the industry. 

The Dr. Fred Enloe Dental Scholarship, administered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, offers a $3,000 scholarship for postgraduate students enrolled at the UMKC School of Dentistry. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, submit a letter of good standing, and provide an essay along with a letter of recommendation. Preference is given to students who graduated from specific high schools in Southern Missouri, ensuring support for local talent in the dental field.

The Dorothy Chestnut Harman Elementary Education Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides a $500 award for graduating high school seniors from Springfield, MO, or undergraduate students at select universities. Applicants must demonstrate financial need, submit a FAFSA-SAI, and provide an essay. Eligible students should be majoring in Education with a minimum GPA of 3.0, aiming for enrollment in accredited two-year or four-year colleges.

The Clyde R. Alleman Memorial Scholarship, offered by the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, provides a $575 scholarship for postgraduate students from Greene County, MO. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and submit a FAFSA-SAI. Preference is given to those pursuing a Medical degree. This scholarship aims to enhance educational opportunities and support students committed to their academic and professional goals.

The Ron and Suzanne Borto Scholarship, administered by the Crown Point Community Foundation, provides financial assistance to adult learners residing in Lake County, IN, who are over the age of 25. This non-renewable scholarship aims to support individuals pursuing educational opportunities, helping to enrich the quality of life in South Lake County. With a focus on meeting community needs, the scholarship reflects the Foundation's mission to maximize charitable gifts and direct resources effectively.

The Renewal Bee Grant, offered by the Whole Kids Foundation, provides $500 to support educational bee programs for K-12 schools and non-profit organizations that have previously received a Bee Grant. Eligible applicants must have submitted their progress report from their last grant and can receive additional resources such as consultations and educator packs. This grant aims to enhance pollinator education while fostering community engagement in conservation efforts.
