The Healthcare Expansion Loan Program II (HELP II) offers low-interest loans to California's non-profit small or rural health facilities. With loan amounts ranging from $25,000 to $1.5 million, borrowers can utilize funds for property purchases, equipment, and renovation projects. To qualify, applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including being a licensed health facility and demonstrating fiscal soundness. Creating Health Access for Next Generation Equity (CHANGE) Grant Program

Launched in 2023, the AstraZeneca Foundation’s signature Creating Health Access for Next Generation Equity (CHANGE) program works to improve access to quality healthcare.

Beginning April 1, 2026, the AstraZeneca Foundation will accept grant requests of $200,000 - $220,000 for review and consideration for its next cohort of CHANGE grant awardees. Organizations receiving funding in 2026 may be considered for renewed funding on an annual basis for two additional years, contingent upon meeting objectives, funding availability and approval by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

The intent of the grants is to provide general operating support for organizations working in innovative, collaborative ways at the community level to help improve access to quality healthcare in their community during the grant year and beyond. Our aim is for funded organizations to maximize the benefit to community members and community-based organizations and to work toward continuing their services beyond potential AstraZeneca Foundation funding.

HAF+WRCF grant funding supports charitable programs and projects in our region (Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties in California, and Curry County, Oregon). 

Angel Fund

Grant Details

The Angel Fund provides small grants to support the unmet health needs of Humboldt County residents. Grants are made on a one-time basis, per person, per 365-day period. Items that are of a recurrent nature are generally not funded.

Average grants range in size from $50 – $250 (grants in excess of $500 are seldom approved). Decisions to grant funds are contingent upon funding criteria and the availability of funds at the time of review. 

There is a two-week turnaround processing time required for application review and check processing. The committee meets every Tuesday, with the exception of holidays. Occasionally the committee will ask for additional information before making a decision. This will often result in a longer turn-around time.

The Kei Lin Foundation Grant, established in 2012 by Margaret Tsai, honors her mother, Kei Lin. This grant supports charitable organizations that provide essential services such as housing, food, and medical assistance to senior citizens and veterans. Priority is given to tax-exempt organizations under 501(c)(3) status. Applicants must adhere to specific guidelines and provide regular reports on fund usage to ensure transparency and accountability in their operations.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America Monthly Grant provides essential financial assistance to broadcasters facing acute hardships due to serious illnesses or accidents. The HEAL Initiative aims to address the significant overlap between chronic pain (CP) and opioid use disorder (OUD), with 40-75% of individuals affected by both. The IMPOWR project focuses on testing innovative interventions and implementation strategies to integrate care for CP and OUD across various health systems. The BEACON Center will enhance network coordination, build capacity, and develop resources to address barriers in service delivery, ultimately improving sustainability and scalability of evidence-based practices.

Team Schnak Strong Fund

The purpose of the Team Schnak Strong Fund is to provide funds to qualified individuals to cover expenses related to the treatment of childhood Type I Diabetes. Grant requests will be considered for children up to the age of 21. Full time students at Emporia State University or Flint Hills Technical College are eligible until the age of 24.

The nccPA Health Foundation: Kathy J. Pedersen Grant aims to promote equitable health care by providing up to $5,000 for innovative projects that address health disparities. With a focus on addressing health disparities, applicants can receive up to $2,500 to fund innovative initiatives.
