The community foundation is like the community’s charitable savings account. We pool resources from community members, invest them and then use them to make grants for the betterment of the entire community. We exist to serve donors, nonprofit organizations and the community as a whole. 

We fund programs and projects that improve the quality of life in Ashland County by educating and developing youth and talent; promoting arts, culture and recreational opportunities; meeting needs of Ashland County residents; and positioning our county as a desirable place to live and conduct business.

Quick Action Community Grants

Quick Action Community Grants are competitive grants awarded to 501(c)(3) and other qualifying charitable organizations. These grants support programs and projects that benefit any population in Ashland County.

What it's for: Projects, programs, or equipment needs of $10,000 or less.Limits: Up to two Quick Action Community Grant applications per fiscal year, July 1 through June 30.

The PLTW Engineering program, in partnership with Burns and McDonnell, aims to enhance STEM education by providing grants to public and charter schools in specific counties. The Bascom Little Fund Grant supports Northeast Ohio composers by funding the performance and recording of contemporary music. Established in memory of architect Bascom Little, the fund aims to promote new works through concerts and publications. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) public charities, and composers must reside in Northeast Ohio. The fund does not support the commission of new works or operating expenses. The scholarship may be renewed for up to three additional years, contingent upon maintaining a 2.0 GPA and continuous enrollment. Applications open on December 16, 2025, and close on March 3, 2026.

Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to individuals seeking financial support to obtain a certification or degree in the nursing field, including a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or a Registered Nurse (RN), Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN), or nurse educator.

The Peoples Security Bank and Trust Company Scholarship Award consists of ten $1,000 scholarships awarded annually to graduating high school seniors who are customers of Peoples Security Bank and Trust Company, or who have a parent or guardian who is a customer, and who plan to pursue postsecondary education.
