PLTW Engineering (Career Readiness Starting in High School)

PLTW Engineering students adopt a problem-solving mindset, are engaged in compelling, real-world challenges that help them become better collaborators and thinkers, and are prepared with skills to step into any career path they take.

Each PLTW Engineering course engages students in interdisciplinary activities like working with a client to design a home, programming electronic devices or robotic arms, or exploring algae as a biofuel source. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance.

New Program (Launching STEM Atlanta)

Public schools, including charter schools, that meet the 10-county geographic requirement that do not yet offer PLTW Engineering are eligible for consideration to support program implementation. PLTW will disburse grant funds over two years and require two years of reporting from awarded schools.

PLTW Gateway (Middle School STEM Curriculum)

Through explorations of skilled trades, coding and robotics, flight and space, human body systems, and more, PLTW Gateway fuels students’ passion for discovery. As they engage in hands-on, collaborative problem solving focused on real-world challenges, students use and stretch their imaginations in brand-new ways that connect their learning to life. All the while, students step into roles spanning the career landscape—a crucial experience during this transitional time in their lives, long before they enter their degreed or skilled trade professions. 

To ensure that more middle school students have equal access and opportunities to engage and be empowered through the PLTW experience, we offer all PLTW Gateway units and teacher resources in both English and Spanish.

About PLTW Biomedical Science

PLTW Biomedical Science students have experience with state-of-the-art tools and techniques that are used by professionals in hospitals and labs every day.  By immersing students in activities like practicing suturing and constructing body structures from clay, PLTW Biomedical Science empowers students to build knowledge and skills in biomedical science, as well as in-demand, transportable skills like problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, and collaboration.Public schools, including charter schools, that meet the 10-county geographic requirement that do not yet offer PLTW Biomedical Science are eligible for consideration to support program implementation. PLTW will disburse grant funds over two years and require two years of reporting from awarded schools. Program Requirements

• Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Biomedical Science course in the 2027-2028 academic year and must offer one additional course in the 2028-2029 academic year (two different courses in two years)
• Grantee may implement any PLTW Biomedical Science courses of their choosing.

Grant Award and Distribution Schedule:

• Total Award: $35,000
  • 2027-2028: $20,000
  • 2028-2029: $15,000

PLTW Computer Science (Career Readiness Starting in High School)

PLTW Computer Science students are technology trailblazers who are empowered through transportable skills and prepared to start their career, whether that is in computer science or not.

Empower your students to become creators of the technology all around them. PLTW Computer Science engages students in collaborative projects that help them develop in-demand computer science knowledge as well as transportable skills like creative thinking and communication. And whether they’re creating an online art gallery or using automation to process and analyze DNA-sequence data, PLTW Computer Science students are seeing how their learning connects to the real world.
