Ohio Department of Public Safety
The Ohio Department of Public Safety (“ODPS”) strives to fulfill its mission to save lives, reduce injuries and economic loss, administer Ohio's motor vehicle laws, and preserve the safety and well-being of all citizens with the most cost-effective and service-oriented methods available.
Motorcycle Ohio
To provide an affordable motorcycle rider training course to reduce fatalities and injuries on Ohio’s roadways through the three major components: rider education, public information campaigns, and licensing improvement.
Motorcycle Ohio Grant Funding to Conduct Motorcycle Rider Training
Established through the Ohio Revised Code, the motorcycle safety and education program has trained over 100,000 riders since its establishment in 1988. While focused at providing training for minors who are required to complete the course to be eligible to receive a license, the program is available to anyone wanting to learn to operate a motorcycle or improve their riding skills. The Motorcycle Ohio (MO) program, under the direction of the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS), is announcing opportunities for government agencies and not-for-profit organizations to offer certified motorcycle rider training.
Priority will be given to applicants serving areas of the state with the demonstrated greatest training needs, as identified by OTSO/MO.
Reimbursement Only Policy
The Motorcycle Ohio training grant operates on a reimbursement basis. Grantees must first incur and pay the cost for approved budget items before requesting reimbursement. Appropriate and accurate documentation will be required for each expense.
