The Jean Griswold Foundation (JGF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Caregivers through educational opportunities and scholarships. 

Our Mission

The mission of the Jean Griswold Foundation is to support Caregivers by providing educational scholarships* to enable them to further their training, enhance their careers, and better assist the clients they serve.

By offering educational scholarships*, our Foundation will not only make a positive impact on the Caregivers themselves, but also the clients they assist and the home healthcare agencies where they are employed, as well as help advance the overarching home-care industry.

Scholarships will be paid directly to the federally accredited educational institutions of the winning Scholars’ choosing.

Empowering Caregivers Through Education

The Jean Griswold Foundation Scholarship Program awards scholarships to deserving Caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold in any way, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

PLTW Biomedical Science (Career Readiness Starting in High School)

PLTW Biomedical Science students have experience with state-of-the-art tools and techniques that are used by professionals in hospitals and labs every day.

By immersing students in activities like practicing suturing and constructing body structures from clay, PLTW Biomedical Science empowers students to build knowledge and skills in biomedical science, as well as in-demand, transportable skills like problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, and collaboration.

Program Expansion (Launching STEM Atlanta)

Public schools, including charter schools, that meet the 10-county geographic requirement that are interested in expanding their existing PLTW Biomedical Science program are eligible for consideration to support program expansion.

About PLTW Biomedical Science

PLTW Biomedical Science students have experience with state-of-the-art tools and techniques that are used by professionals in hospitals and labs every day.  By immersing students in activities like practicing suturing and constructing body structures from clay, PLTW Biomedical Science empowers students to build knowledge and skills in biomedical science, as well as in-demand, transportable skills like problem solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, and collaboration.Public schools, including charter schools, that meet the 10-county geographic requirement that do not yet offer PLTW Biomedical Science are eligible for consideration to support program implementation. PLTW will disburse grant funds over two years and require two years of reporting from awarded schools. Program Requirements

• Grantee must offer at least one PLTW Biomedical Science course in the 2027-2028 academic year and must offer one additional course in the 2028-2029 academic year (two different courses in two years)
• Grantee may implement any PLTW Biomedical Science courses of their choosing.

Grant Award and Distribution Schedule:

• Total Award: $35,000
  • 2027-2028: $20,000
  • 2028-2029: $15,000

Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta

Since its inception in 1951, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta has focused, however imperfectly, on improving the lives of those throughout our region by giving to programs that help it thrive.

For its first 65 years, and in collaborations with a growing cohort of philanthropists, the Foundation invited donors to invest in the causes and opportunities that resonated with them most. In 2018, as a result of globally-regarded Brookings Institute naming Atlanta the #1 city for income inequality in the country, the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors made the decision to turn its focus to this critical community need, and work began that year on fostering equitable outcomes.

Today, the Community Foundation exists to inspire and lead our region toward equity and shared prosperity for all.

Nonprofit Sector Sustainability Fund

Nonprofits across metro Atlanta are facing growing challenges due to rising costs, delayed or decreasing government funding, and increasing demand for services. Many organizations are navigating difficult decisions around staffing and programs while continuing to serve vulnerable communities.

In response, the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, in partnership with local philanthropic organizations and donors, has established the Nonprofit Sector Sustainability Fund. This support will be coordinated through our partner, Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF). With 45 years of experience, NFF’s Consulting team is uniquely equipped to help nonprofits navigate changing funding scenarios impacting their business models, cash flow and sustainability. The Nonprofit Sector Sustainability Fund will provide multi-year, general operating support grants to nonprofits experiencing the combined challenges of increasing need, increasing costs, and decreasing resources.

The fund aims to help nonprofits strengthen financial sustainability, explore new operating models and build capacity through multi-year, general operating support grants and targeted technical assistance based on the needs of nonprofits in this moment. By combining financial and non-financial resources, the fund aims to support a resilient nonprofit sector both now and in the long term.

Capacity Building and Technical Assistance

The selected applicants will also have the opportunity to build their capacity and receive technical assistance through:

• Monthly in-person or virtual cohort convenings
• Regular coaching, training, and support from a consultant with expertise in identified organizational challenges, such as scenario planning, diversification of funding, and strategic partnerships
