Arts in Community Grants

Program Description

Arts in Community Grants are designed to support deeper engagements between Southern communities and artists. Through these grants supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, we aim to increase access to the arts, expand audiences for artists, and broaden our reach. Eligible projects require a Southern artist/company visiting another Southern state for public activities, offering access to arts programming by professional artists. Funding supports Southern film directors, traditional artists, visual artists, performing artists, or writers:

• film (documentary, fiction, experimental, and animation),
• traditional arts (music, dance, storytelling, and visual arts/crafts),
• visual arts (crafts, drawing, experimental, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media),
• performing arts (theater, music, opera, musical theater, and dance), and
• literary arts (fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry).

Projects require an artist or artist ensemble and a host or partner organization. Project must include at least two in-person or live, virtual public activities – both a public presentation (a film screening, performance, reading, or exhibition) and an educational/community engagement activity (a workshop, demonstration, lecture, facilitated discussion, or master class). The grant requires a dollar-for-dollar cash match.

The Florida Civil Money Penalty (CMP) Funds program, managed by the Agency for Health Care Administration, aims to enhance the quality of care and life for nursing home residents through innovative projects. Funded by monetary penalties imposed on non-compliant nursing homes, these funds support initiatives that exceed minimum standards, including resident relocation assistance and improvements in facility operations. Foothills Community Foundation

Scholarships

Several different scholarship funds have been established by individuals, companies, and organizations wanting to assist individuals with furthering their education. All qualified applicants will be graduating high school seniors except for renewal options specifically noted.

Irvin Cauthen Scholarship

Seniors from Anderson, Oconee, or Pickens County who plan to major in business or engineering at Anderson University, Florida State University, Clemson University or Georgia Tech are qualified. This scholarship is renewable.

Scholarship funds are awarded for one academic year. A renewal application is required for each academic year with demonstration of being in good standing at their school of choice.

The LBK Garden Club, established in 1969, is dedicated to promoting gardening and environmental conservation. Each year, they award grants to tax-exempt organizations focused on these areas, with amounts ranging from $100 to several thousand dollars. Applications are due by March 15th, with recipients announced in early April. Grant winners are recognized at the Club’s Annual Meeting on Earth Day. Previous recipients must submit an Annual Report detailing grant usage by March 1st.

The NRCS' Feral Swine Eradication and Control Pilot Program for FY 2026 aims to combat the environmental and agricultural threats posed by invasive feral swine. With over $3.4 billion in annual damage attributed to these species, the program seeks to mitigate their impact on ecosystems and human health. Project Lead The Way is offering a rolling grant opportunity for schools to implement the PLTW Engineering program for the 2025-2026 academic year and beyond. Eligible institutions include public, private, and charter schools located in the US. Grant recipients will receive funding to cover participation fees and training costs. Total funding amounts to $16,000, distributed over three years. Schools are encouraged to create pathways for students in engineering through this initiative.

The Encova Foundation of West Virginia is dedicated to improving communities by supporting local causes that align with the values of its associates and policyholders. They focus on health, education, and wellness, emphasizing the importance of children's success. Organizations applying for grants must be U.S.-based and verified as charitable. Preference is given to initiatives impacting health and education, especially those involving Encova associates as active participants.

The FBA Community Organization Grant Program, established by the Florida Beverage Association, aims to enhance community health and sustainability. This initiative supports grants that focus on promoting nutrition, physical activity, and environmental sustainability. By fostering comprehensive programs, the FBA is dedicated to creating healthier citizens and communities, recognizing the vital connection between business success and community well-being. This is the ninth year of the program, reflecting a strong commitment to community improvement.

The Southern Scholarship Foundation offers rent-free housing to students in Florida who demonstrate financial need, academic merit, and good character. This initiative supports students at various universities, encouraging a cooperative living environment, community events, and leadership development. With a commitment to transforming lives through education, the Foundation aims to empower students to thrive academically and personally. Applications are open until April 1, 2025, for Fall consideration and November 1, 2025, for Spring.

The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation (FBCF) offers the Scientific Research Grant - Pilot Program, providing up to $100,000 for innovative breast cancer research. The Sea Turtle Grants: Emergency Fund, supported by Florida's Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate revenues, provides vital funding for sea turtle conservation and research. This program allocates funds to address emergency situations affecting Florida's sea turtles, including mass strandings and illnesses. Eligible applicants include local governments, non-profits, and educational institutions in Florida. The Sea Turtle Conservancy administers the program, ensuring effective support for marine turtle protection efforts.

The Sea Turtle Grants Program, funded by Florida's Sea Turtle Specialty License Plate revenues, supports ongoing research and conservation efforts for Florida's sea turtles through non-competitive mini-grants of $1,000. The Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) is the major federal grant program for libraries. The LSTA program, administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services:

• Emphasizes public libraries but encourages interlibrary cooperation and partnerships among all types of libraries.
• Increases emphasis on accountability and evaluation.

Florida Kiwanis Foundation

The Florida Kiwanis Foundation was created in 1971 by Former Kiwanis Governor Robert Thal. Since 1971, Florida Kiwanis Foundation has been supporting Kiwanis Clubs, Divisions, and students make a real impact in the state of Florida.
