Lev D. Landau and Lyman Spitzer Jr. Award for Outstanding Contributions to Plasma Physics

Recognizes outstanding theoretical, experimental, or technical contribution(s) in plasma physics and for advancing the collaboration and unity between Europe and the United States of America by joint research or research that advances knowledge which benefits the two communities in a unique way.

The award may be given to a team or collaboration of up to four persons affiliated with either European or United States institutions.

The award consists of $4,000, a certificate citing the contributions made by the recipient, and a registration fee waiver to attend the meeting at which the award is to be presented.

The person or team receiving the award will be offered an invited talk at the forthcoming annual conference of APS-DPP (usually early November) or EPS-DPP (usually end of June, or first week of July), depending on the affiliation of the recipient(s).

On years that DPP is hosting, in the event of a team larger than five (5), DPP may cap the number of registration waivers.

Dr. Donald and Ann Gleason Memorial Scholarship

Provides scholarships for qualified Shasta County students with financial needs seeking a college education in the medical field.

Dr. and Mrs. Gleason had no heirs but still had a strong desire to help students with a financial need who were seeking a degree in the medical field. The Dr. Donald and Ann Gleason Memorial Scholarship will assist those pursuing an education in mental health, psychiatry, or pre-med studies.

The Ethel Zwiebel Scholarship, managed by the Community Foundation of the North State, supports Shasta County students majoring in music who demonstrate financial need. This award is open to graduating high school seniors and Shasta College students completing their two-year music program. By fostering educational goals, this scholarship aims to empower young musicians to pursue their passion for music in higher education.

Glen Hawk Sr. Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship benefits a Shasta County graduating high school senior who is pursuing a vocational or technical certification at an accredited technical school or community college.

The Glen Hawk Sr. Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by Helen Hawk, in memory of her husband. Glen Hawk Sr. served on the Shasta High School Board of Directors from 1979-1989.

Gustafson Fritz Scholarship for Women

An opportunity for female high school graduates in Shasta or Trinity County who demonstrate attributes of generosity, creativity, exemplary work ethic and kindness.

Patricia “Pat” L. Gustafson was an exceptional woman. She was known for her stewardship, generosity, creativity, exemplary work ethic and kindness. Continuing the legacy gifted to her by Pat, her “daughter”, Lynn E. Fritz, the Guftason Fritz Scholarship for Women honors her by awarding support to other women demonstrating like attributes in their journey of self-discovery, empowerment, education and community service.

Our Story

Established over 50 years ago, our founders redefined local philanthropy, fostering connections around a shared sense of place and purpose. Scholarships are offered to students living in the Richmond region and other Virginia locations. Each scholarship was established by a generous individual, family, or organization with a desire to assist high school students, recent high school graduates, and adult learners to continue their education. 

Mary Davidson Bryan Scholarship

The Mary Davidson Bryan Scholarship was established by the family of Mary Davidson Bryan to benefit academically qualified graduates of high schools in Bedford and Rockbridge Counties.

Medina County Women's Scholarship FundOriginally established by the American Association of University Women of Medina County to award scholarships to nontraditional female students. A nontraditional student is a woman whose undergraduate education has been interrupted or delayed.Amount:

The U.S. Department of Justice is inviting applications for the FY26 Coordinated Tribal Assistance Solicitation (CTAS) to streamline the grant process for federally recognized tribes. This initiative combines various competitive funding opportunities into a single application, allowing tribes to address public safety and victimization comprehensively. Eligible areas include criminal justice, substance use, and support for victims of domestic violence. The deadline for applications is October 22, 2026.

The NAWCA U.S. Standard grants provide competitive matching funds to support partnerships aimed at the long-term protection, restoration, and enhancement of wetlands and associated upland habitats in the U.S. These projects benefit migratory birds and promote ecological sustainability. A 1:1 match is required. The program seeks to improve wetland ecosystems, ensuring the conservation of waterfowl and other wildlife, while fulfilling international conservation obligations.

The Strengthening Services to Prevent the Infectious Disease Consequences of Drug Use initiative aims to enhance prevention services for infectious diseases among people who use drugs (PWUD). It encompasses two components: a biennial survey to assess service gaps and capacity, and increased support for testing and treatment services. The initiative seeks to improve data utilization in service provision, ultimately increasing testing for HBV, HCV, and HIV, and ensuring more PWUD engage in treatment and care.

The CDC is allocating funds through NOFO DD-27-0028 to enhance maternal child health surveillance and partnerships. This initiative targets public health challenges such as alcohol use during pregnancy and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs). It aims to improve clinical surveillance systems, data quality, and timely reporting, while fostering national partnerships to prevent FASDs and support affected infants and children. The approach focuses on translating high-quality surveillance data into actionable prevention strategies.

The CDC's initiative focuses on developing clinical decision support (CDS) tools for cancer screening and management, specifically for cervical, breast, and colorectal cancers. The project aims to enhance guideline-concordant screening and improve management processes through rigorous implementation and evaluation within large health systems. By integrating these tools into electronic health records, the initiative seeks to support clinicians in making evidence-based decisions at the point of care, ultimately improving patient outcomes in cancer care.

Durham Foundation Fund in Honor of Shirley O'Neall

The Durham Foundation was established in 1944 for the purpose of maintaining Durham Home as a residence for independent women. In 1937, Sarah Durham established a trust to provide a comfortable home environment for women. The Durham Foundation operates as a 501c3 organization and oversees the home located at 215 West Main Street, Crawfordsville. 

The Durham Foundation Fund was created by the Durham Foundation board of directors to honor Shirley O’Neall’s service to the organization for over 50 years. It is their wish to support local women pursuing education to better themselves and their contributions to the community.

Communities Foundation of Oklahoma

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to Cherokee Nation students pursuing college degrees in nursing no matter the residence of the student. You must currently be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program (no prerequisites). Payback period required upon program completion, in the Cherokee Nation Reservation. Established as a tribute to the late Jim Chenot, former WAPS-FM "Summit" on-air personality and business underwriting sales representative who passed away in 2016, to provide scholarships for Akron Public Schools seniors with a focus on raising awareness for those who have overcome obstacles that may have prevented them from fully realizing their healthy potential. Applicants are asked to share their stories of well-being and gratitude through essays, poetry, songs, podcasts or video.

Patricia Alleva DeHaven Scholarship Fund

Mission Statement

The Patricia Alleva DeHaven Scholarship Fund was established by the late William Thomas “Bill” DeHaven to honor his late wife after her long fight with cancer. Patricia was deeply loved by those around her as a loving wife, mother, second-mother to many of her children’s friends and husband’s coworkers, grandmother, and friend. Patricia was a biochemist for Merk & Co. while tremendously cooking and feeding anyone who came into her home. She worked as a volunteer for crime victims, raised money for veterans, and devoted much time to her church, St. Monica in Berwyn. The Patricia Alleva DeHaven Scholarship Award is presented annually in honor and memory of Patricia Alleva DeHaven who believed deeply in the value of Catholic education.

Community Foundation of Henderson County

Community Foundation of Henderson County was incorporated in 1982 by a group of fourteen dedicated and compassionate local leaders with the immediate need to manage two funds - the William C. Armstrong Scholarship Fund and the Charlie Renfrow Scholarship Fund, in addition to providing a permanent vehicle for citizens to give back to their community.

This scholarship provides financial support to a graduating senior seeking to further his or her education beyond high school. The recipient must be in the top 25% of his or her graduating class and demonstrate financial need. This scholarship is for a worthy student who has participated in sports or extracurricular activities.
