The PDF Travel Award to the Annual CSZ Meeting is designed to support post-doctoral fellows in attending the Canadian Society of Zoologists' Annual Meeting. Community Foundation Competitive Grants: The Boon House Legacy Fund Grant Opportunity

The Boon House Legacy Fund Grant opportunity is available for nonprofits seeking support for projects that address prevention, treatment, and recovery of substance abuse and substance use disorders. Nonprofits interested will complete the same application and choose “The Boon House Legacy Fund Grant” option in the strategic goal section of the application.

The Ford Transfer Scholars Program provides scholarships of up to $40,000 per year for community college students from Oregon and Siskiyou County, California. Aimed at those with financial need, this program supports students ready to transfer to four-year colleges. Selection is based on resilience and academic potential, with no minimum GPA requirement. Scholarships are renewable and cover tuition, living expenses, and other necessary costs to help students achieve their bachelor's degrees.

The Mick Burt Award, presented by the Canadian Society of Zoologists, honors the best student poster presentation in the PIE section at the Annual Meeting. This $300 cash prize encourages students to excel in scientific research and communication. To qualify, students must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, be members of the PIE Section, and present their posters at the conference. The award is given annually, contingent on the quality of submissions.

Technical Assistance Navigating Culturally Specific Substance Use and Recovery Programs

Scope of Work

The purpose of the RFP is for technical assistance navigating culturally specific and responsive SUD programs. STATE has identified three categories of activities to meet this goal:

• Licensure, Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP) Enrollment, and Rate Enhancement: The purpose of this category is to support culturally specific or culturally responsive SUD programs in developing long-term sustainability through obtaining licensure, enrolling in MHCP, or applying for the Medical Assistance (MA) Rate Enhancement as a Culturally Specific or Culturally Responsive Program.

• Grant Writing and Management: The purpose of this category is to increase the knowledge, skills, and capacity of culturally specific or culturally responsive programs to apply for, receive, and successfully manage grant funding from the STATE.

• Technical Assistance and Training: The purpose of this category is to provide an opportunity for culturally specific or culturally responsive SUD programs to support each other in a consulting or training capacity. 

The F. E. J. Fry Medal honors Canadian Zoologists who have significantly advanced knowledge in zoology. Awarded by the Canadian Society of Zoologists, this prestigious recognition requires recipients to deliver a plenary lecture at the annual conference. The medal not only acknowledges remarkable contributions but also covers full travel expenses for the awardee. One medal is awarded each year, emphasizing the importance of impactful research and outreach in the field of zoology.

The Glenn Foundation for Medical Research Discovery Award, in partnership with the American Federation for Aging Research, aims to fund innovative research that explores the biological mechanisms of normal aging. This award supports projects with a strong potential for groundbreaking discoveries, particularly from researchers new to the aging field. Up to two awards of $525,000 over three years will be granted, promoting scientific collaboration at designated conferences.

The Leifur Eiríksson Foundation Fellowship supports U.S. and Icelandic scholars in graduate research or study exchanges between the two countries. Applicants must be enrolled in accredited institutions and demonstrate a well-defined research project. The fellowship covers up to $25,000 in costs, including travel. The program promotes academic collaboration and cultural exchange, helping scholars enhance their education while fostering international relationships. Applications must be submitted by the deadline with all required documentation.

The ASM Minority Travel Award aims to enhance diversity in microbial sciences by supporting faculty from underrepresented institutions, including community colleges and historically black colleges. This initiative ensures that diverse perspectives are included in the field, fostering a richer academic environment. Awardees receive complimentary registration and housing for ASM Microbe 2026, promoting professional development and networking opportunities in microbiology.

Ray Howland Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

The Ray Howland Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the life, values and passions of Ray Howland, the former village manager of North Palm Beach and a dedicated advocate for bicycle safety. A sports enthusiast and community leader, Ray tragically lost his life in 1998 during the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival while doing what he loved most — cycling.

Following his untimely death, Ray’s widow, Edie, together with family members, friends and fellow cyclists, established the scholarship to not only memorialize Ray’s life but also to teach future generations the importance of bicycle safety. 

Applicant must submit an essay or poster on bicycle safety.

The American Philosophical Society offers the David Center for the American Revolution Research Fellowships for International Scholars, aimed at supporting foreign scholars researching the American Revolution and Founding Era. With a competitive stipend of $5,000, fellows can access APS resources and archives in the U.S. Fellowships begin on June 1, 2026, and conclude by May 31, 2027, allowing flexibility for travel arrangements amid ongoing global conditions.

Rear Admiral Philip A. Whitacre Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Eligibility

• Limited to PBC residents under 25 years old for undergrad.
• Strong evidence of community service.
• Scholarship will cover educational expenses including tuition and books but excluding living and transportation expenses.
• Not for Tech or Trade schools.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Preference giving to applicants who have served or parents have served in the Navy with honorable discharge.
• Must be willing to speak as a volunteer (at least 10 hours) at one of the following: Planned Parenthood PBC, Max Planck, PB Opera, PB Fellowship of Christians and Jews, Historical Society of PBC, PBC Chamber of Commerce, or PB Rotary.

Robert Glen Stern Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

The Robert Glen Stern Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 by Annette and Harold P. Stern, along with Steven B. Stern and Eric K. Stern, in memory of their beloved son and brother.

Born in New York City and raised in Westchester County, Robert graduated from Harrison High School and attended college in Massachusetts. He was known for his happy disposition, hearty laugh and deep sensitivity toward others. A lover of music and poetry, Robert cared deeply for his family and his fellow man.

The scholarship supports outstanding graduating seniors from Palm Beach County who demonstrate financial need, dedication to education and active participation in extracurricular activities, continuing Robert’s spirit of kindness, passion and commitment to others.

Robert P. Koch Memorial Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

Robert P. Koch achieved greatness throughout his lifetime. Bob often said, “Know what you are and know what you’re not”. He was respected by all who knew him in his private life as well as in his professional life in law enforcement and as an attorney. To honor his memory, his widow Jean B. Gutkin established a scholarship fund in his name.

The A.J. Ladman Exemplary Service Award, presented by the American Association for Anatomy, recognizes members who have demonstrated exceptional service and mentorship in anatomical sciences. With a funding of $2,000 towards travel to the AAA Annual Meeting, this award aims to honor individuals who have significantly contributed to the association and the discipline. Nominations must include a nomination form, a letter of recommendation, and the nominee's CV.

The Henry Gray Scientific Achievement Award, presented by the American Association for Anatomy, honors outstanding contributions to anatomical sciences by AAA members. Nominees must be full-time or emeritus faculty at accredited institutions and active AAA members. The award includes a $2,000 funding for travel to the AAA Annual Meeting. Nominations require a completed form, a letter of recommendation, and representative papers, ensuring a thorough review by the Nominating Committee.

R. Kubly Family Foundation

The goal of the R. Kubly Family Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in Monroe, Wisconsin by empowering educated and leadership-focused individuals who live and work in the Monroe area.

Scholarship Loan Program

The R. Kubly Family Foundation makes low interest loans to qualified individuals for use in paying their school tuition for graduate, professional, or certain undergraduate degrees through the Scholarship Loan Program. The Foundation will forgive those loans if the individual lives and works in the Monroe, Wisconsin area for five years after graduation. See the Program Detail & Policies PDF for more information. 

Scholarship Loan Program applications are accepted throughout the year.

The Early-Career Anatomist Publication Award, presented by the American Association for Anatomy, honors exceptional publications by early-career anatomists in three prestigious journals. Each year, up to three awards are given, accompanied by a $1,000 honorarium and $1,750 for travel to the AAA Annual Meeting. Eligible candidates include students, postdocs, and assistant professors without tenure, who must be first or last authors on a paper published in the previous calendar year.

The American Association for Anatomy offers Student/Postdoc Travel and Competition Awards to support attendance at the annual meeting, Anatomy Connected. Over $60,000 is awarded to eligible student and postdoc members who submit abstracts by December 15. Travel awards of $350 are available for the first 150 applicants, and early career members can apply for up to $1,000. Competition awards feature prizes up to $500, promoting excellence in research presentation.

The applicant must demonstrate reasonable need; must demonstrate the capacity for pursuing the advanced education; must be a resident of Henderson County; must have attended public schools in Henderson County beginning no later than the fourth grammar grade continuing through high school; and must graduate from a public high school in Henderson County.This is a renewable scholarship.

About the Scholarship

Melida Patterson was a dedicated volunteer and leader who became a vital part of the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi. She was recognized for her efforts and commitment to the mission of the club, which aimed to provide innovative and high-quality programs that empower young people to excel in school and lead productive lives. Melida was even named Volunteer of the Year and served as Chairman of the Board. Her family has now created a scholarship in her honor, which will be awarded to students who demonstrate both financial need and motivation to achieve their potential through higher education. This scholarship is a lasting tribute to Melida, who was a wonderful mother, wife, friend, and advocate, particularly for the less fortunate.

Scholarship Eligibility

• Graduating high school senior from Palm Beach or Martin County.
• Students graduating from Atlantic, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Olympic Heights, Spanish River, and West Boca High School are not eligible to apply for this scholarship through the Community Foundation but may apply through the Sunburst Foundation by contacting their school guidance counselors for application information.
• Must declare a major in engineering, computer science, chemistry, physics, biology, botany, mathematics, oceanography, geology, pre-dental, pre-medical, pre-veterinary, nursing, astronomy, ecological sciences, pharmacy or zoological sciences.
• Must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in college.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Preference to those who self-identify as a member of a minority group.

The JJF Grants for Youth Programs, established by the James Joseph Ford Foundation, aim to empower underserved youth through educational, social, and cultural initiatives. Since its inception in 2003, the foundation has prioritized equal opportunities for children, supporting various programs that enhance their potential. Annual grants are awarded based on applications, focusing on both capital and operational funding to foster impactful youth-centered services.
