Scholarship Eligibility

• Graduating senior from any Martin County high school.
• Top 25% preferable unless student has an outstanding extracurricular or if student worked to support him/herself or family, then can be selected from the next quartile.
• Prefer minority student, but not eliminating white students.
• Prefer a student who has participated in school athletics.
• Demonstrate financial need.

Lawrence A. Sanders Foundation Vo-Tech Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Eligibility

The Donor hereby designates and the Foundation accepts the following guidelines and criteria for the granting of awards from this Fund. Recipients will:

• Reside in Palm Beach or Martin Counties
• Hold a high school diploma or GED
• Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a Career Certificate Program at Palm Beach State College or another accredited vocational, technical, or trades-training institution(s)located in Palm Beach or Martin Counties, and be deemed eligible for training in one of the following: HVAC Technology; Electrical Apprenticeship/Electrical Technology; Welding Technology; Automotive or Diesel Technology; Industrial/Mechanical Technology; Other approved technical/vocational programs aligned with workforce needs
• Demonstrate a commitment to complete the training
• Demonstrate financial need

Kim Love Sartory Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

Kim was born in Milan, Tenn., and moved to Jupiter in her preschool years when her father accepted a position at Pratt and Whitney. Kim began her banking career at 1st American Bank, later moving on to charter the opening of Admiralty Bank. She left the finance world in 1992 to work with her husband, Larry in the family business. She was dedicated to advancing the careers of women, serving on the board of Executive Women and as an active committee member of the Business Development Board and North Palm Beach Chamber. She passed away unexpectedly, and this scholarship serves to perpetuate her memory and spirit.

Julian and Eunice S. Cohen Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

Julian and Eunice Cohen believed deeply in the power of giving back. After moving to Palm Beach in the 1970s, they became devoted supporters of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties, establishing both a Donor Advised Fund and a scholarship fund to help local students achieve their dreams.

The Cobleigh Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree in the College of Engineering. Established as part of MSU's commitment to educational excellence since 1893, this scholarship is available to incoming juniors and above, aiming to empower future engineers. By providing necessary financial assistance, it helps transform lives and communities through education, aligning with MSU's mission to foster innovation and leadership in engineering.

The Col. Arthur C. and Shim Post Scholarship at Montana State University supports students pursuing a degree while demonstrating financial need. Established as part of MSU's commitment to higher education since 1893, this scholarship reflects the university's dedication to transforming lives and communities. With limited availability for incoming students, it encourages academic advancement and helps alleviate financial burdens, enabling recipients to focus on their educational journey.

The Simon and Anna Kirk Memorial Scholarship, established by Michael Kirk at the Juneau Community Foundation, awards $1,750 annually to one male and one female senior from Juneau Douglas High School or Yaakoosge Daakahidi High School. The scholarship supports students demonstrating dependability, effort, and financial need, providing up to $7,000 over four years for tuition and necessary academic supplies. Recipients must maintain good standing and will receive funds sent directly to their educational institution.

Community Foundation of Greater New Britain

Since 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has been the area’s signature resource for those who, like us, aspire to make our community a better place.

The Foundation has been at the forefront of positive community change and charitable impact since The Stanley Works and New Britain Machine pooled $30,000 in gifts before World War II to begin what was then called the New Britain Foundation for Public Giving. Primarily a grant maker for many years, providing funding to support New Britain non-profits and their programs, our Foundation today is leading and collaborating to shape the Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington of tomorrow.

First Years First Early Childhood Grants

The goal of the Initiative is to support optimal learning and development of children, birth through preschool so children enter kindergarten ready to learn. 

First Years First Strategies

Increase Social Emotional Learning (SEL) among young children to support school readiness, success and outcomes. Support SEL training for parents/caregivers, teachers and other adults that work with young children.

Strengthen Parent/Caregiver Education by building skills, knowledge and relationships in one or more of the following ways: 1) increase knowledge of child development, early brain development and the lasting impact of high quality early childhood education, 2) support deepening relationships among caregivers, educators and young children that increase and incorporate Social Emotional Learning, 3) strengthen parenting and caregiver skills so that children are supported and ready to learn and succeed in school.

Support Foundational Skill Development that is age appropriate in math, pre-writing, and pre-literacy among young children and families.

Support teacher training that increases skill, knowledge and expertise and teachers’ ability to support the optimal learning and development of children birth through preschool.

The Alma Harris Scholarship Fund, established by Don Harris at the Juneau Community Foundation, honors his wife Alma Harris, a dedicated English teacher for over 20 years. This $10,000 scholarship supports one graduating senior from a Juneau High School pursuing higher education. It can cover tuition or necessary educational expenses such as books and supplies. Selection is based on the application, personal essay, and recommendation letter, ensuring that all eligible seniors have an opportunity to apply.

Steuben County Community Foundation

Substance Abuse & Recovery Grants

These grants are available to nonprofits, healthcare providers, and government agencies. 

The Bob and Darlene (Phelps) Stutte Family Scholarship Fund, established by Bob Stutte through the Juneau Community Foundation, offers two $2,500 awards for eligible high school seniors or recent graduates from specific local schools. This scholarship supports students pursuing higher education, covering tuition and necessary academic materials. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and provide a personal essay along with two letters of recommendation, ensuring that those with a GPA of 3.5 or lower can also apply.

The Hather Family Scholarship, established by Don and Betty Hather through the Juneau Community Foundation, aims to support Skagway High School graduates in their pursuit of higher education. Open to the 2025 graduating class and past graduates, the scholarship offers awards ranging from $1,000 to $3,000, totaling up to $15,000 for the year. Applicants will be evaluated based on their application, personal essay, and letter of recommendation.

Terry Darby Memorial Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

Soccer was more than a game to Terry, it was his passion. Through his involvement as coach, referee, booster and administrator, he shared his passion with the youth of Northern Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. Born in England, Terry immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950s and settled in Riviera Beach. He graduated from Suncoast High School, worked his way through college and became a Certified Public Accountant, opening his own practice in North Palm Beach.

Sunburst Foundation Community Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Eligibility

• Graduating high school senior from Palm Beach or Martin County.
• Students graduating from Atlantic, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth, Olympic Heights, Spanish River, and West Boca High School are not eligible to apply for this scholarship through the Community Foundation but may apply through the Sunburst Foundation by contacting their school guidance counselors for application information.
• Must declare a major in engineering, computer science, chemistry, physics, biology, botany, mathematics, oceanography, geology, pre-dental, pre-medical, pre-veterinary, nursing, astronomy, ecological sciences, pharmacy or zoological sciences.
• Must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in college.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Preference to those who self-identify as a member of a minority group.

Robert P. Koch Memorial Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

Robert P. Koch achieved greatness throughout his lifetime. Bob often said, “Know what you are and know what you’re not”. He was respected by all who knew him in his private life as well as in his professional life in law enforcement and as an attorney. To honor his memory, his widow Jean B. Gutkin established a scholarship fund in his name.

Robert Glen Stern Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

The Robert Glen Stern Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 by Annette and Harold P. Stern, along with Steven B. Stern and Eric K. Stern, in memory of their beloved son and brother.

Born in New York City and raised in Westchester County, Robert graduated from Harrison High School and attended college in Massachusetts. He was known for his happy disposition, hearty laugh and deep sensitivity toward others. A lover of music and poetry, Robert cared deeply for his family and his fellow man.

The scholarship supports outstanding graduating seniors from Palm Beach County who demonstrate financial need, dedication to education and active participation in extracurricular activities, continuing Robert’s spirit of kindness, passion and commitment to others.

Scholarship Eligibility

• Limited to PBC residents under 25 years old for undergrad.
• Strong evidence of community service.
• Scholarship will cover educational expenses including tuition and books but excluding living and transportation expenses.
• Not for Tech or Trade schools.
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Preference giving to applicants who have served or parents have served in the Navy with honorable discharge.
• Must be willing to speak as a volunteer (at least 10 hours) at one of the following: Planned Parenthood PBC, Max Planck, PB Opera, PB Fellowship of Christians and Jews, Historical Society of PBC, PBC Chamber of Commerce, or PB Rotary.

Ray Howland Scholarship Fund

About the Fund

The Ray Howland Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to honor the life, values and passions of Ray Howland, the former village manager of North Palm Beach and a dedicated advocate for bicycle safety. A sports enthusiast and community leader, Ray tragically lost his life in 1998 during the Mount Dora Bicycle Festival while doing what he loved most — cycling.

Following his untimely death, Ray’s widow, Edie, together with family members, friends and fellow cyclists, established the scholarship to not only memorialize Ray’s life but also to teach future generations the importance of bicycle safety. 

Applicant must submit an essay or poster on bicycle safety.

Ralph O. Wood Memorial Scholarship Fund

Scholarship Eligibility

• Graduating high school senior from any Palm Beach or Martin County high school.
• Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA while in high school.
• Must participate in extracurricular activities and show financial need.

The Dowdy Scholars Enrichment Program offers a prestigious scholarship for incoming freshmen at North Carolina A&T State University, emphasizing academic excellence and leadership. Established in 2008, it provides a full four-year renewable scholarship, covering tuition, fees, and room and board. Scholars engage in enriching co-curricular activities, fostering skills in leadership, research, and social awareness. This highly competitive program aims to cultivate transformational leaders and is open to all disciplines, ensuring access to unparalleled opportunities for talented students.

The SSG & AC Edwards Fellowship, established by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, supports female-identifying visual artists, particularly Native Americans. This fully-funded, two-week residency provides artists with private accommodations and studio space, encouraging creativity and diversity in the arts. Emerging and established artists can apply in various disciplines, including painting, sculpture, and music composition. The fellowship aims to foster artistic development and community engagement within the vibrant environment of VCCA.

The Richard S. and Julia Louise Reynolds Poetry Fellowship, offered by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), provides fully-funded three-week writing residencies for poets. This fellowship supports both emerging and established artists, fostering creativity in a vibrant community. Poets enjoy private accommodations, meals, and dedicated studio space at the picturesque Mt. San Angelo. Applications are encouraged from diverse backgrounds, enhancing the fellowship's commitment to artistic expression and collaboration.

The Alison Lurie Memorial Fellowship for Female-Identifying Fiction Writers, offered by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, provides a two-week residency for a female-identifying fiction writer. This fully-funded opportunity includes a private bedroom, individual studio, and meals in a creative community. Supported by Edward Hower in memory of his wife Alison Lurie, a Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, this fellowship aims to foster artistic growth and diverse perspectives in writing.

The Smithsonian Biodiversity Genomics Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (BioG) offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to engage in collaborative research in biodiversity genomics. The fellowship supports projects involving phylogenomics, population genomics, and bioinformatics analysis, with a stipend of $62,000 per year. Applicants must have completed or be nearing completion of their Ph.D. and propose to conduct research at Smithsonian facilities for 12 to 24 months, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Jacques and Natasha Gelman Fellowship, hosted by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, offers fully-funded two-week or one-month residencies for African American and Latin American visual artists. This opportunity provides artists with personal studios, private accommodations, and meals in a collaborative environment. The fellowship aims to support diverse perspectives in the arts, encouraging applications from both emerging and established artists across various disciplines, including painting, sculpture, and photography.
